I play tennis regularly and want to get my diet in order so it actually helps on court. Looking for books that cover things like eating around matches and long practice sessions, staying fueled through a three-set match, and recovery between days.
Sports nutrition books that are practical and evidence-based are ideal.

My kid is starting to get into tennis, mostly some lessons at court16 and playing off wall. I am thinking about getting some court time but since I've never done, how does reserving a court actually work?
Do all of us - me and my kids (5 year old and 11 year old) have to get permits? Do we have to get permits?
Most of the courts downtown say 1st come 1st serve, does that mean waking up early to sign up for a time slot?
I don't have to pick the 1st available time slot, I can pick a later one?
If I do get a court slot, what kind of things should I work on with my children?
I also assume I should bring a ton of balls so we don't waste time chasing after errant hits.
I guess since I'm asking for advice ... used tennis rackets are okay? like from facebook marketplace or some other source?
Thanks in advance!
As per title. It looks like a chip to me, but thought I’d confirm.

Historically used blade 100 and switched to the pure aero 98 a year ago and have loved the spin/accuracy although my previous minor elbow issues have gotten worse. What’s something comparable but softer? Thoughts on Vcore 98 on comfort relative to pure aero 98 for those who’ve dealt with elbow issues? TIA.
Edit: Using poly tour pro and have dropped to 46/44 - really like poly and feels like I’m already at a low tension but suppose could go even lower if it would have further benefits on comfort.

Has anybody experienced more shoulder/elbow pain with the 100 vs 98 Pure Aero?
Hit with my friend’s PA 98 2026 strung with RPM team 52lbs over the weekend and I didn’t feel any elbow or shoulder pain after 2 hours of hitting and point play.
I mainly use a PA 100 2026 with Head Lynx Tour 18g at 45lbs mains and Multifeel Black 17g at 48lbs, which even with that setup gives me slight elbow discomfort. Using full bed HLT here just wrecks my arm…
I know it’s mostly a technique issue and I’m working on that for sure but I do wonder why the two would feel so different from a comfort perspective.

Have you ever prepared to go crosscourt, suddenly seen the line open and changed your mind at the last second?
Sometimes it works. Sometimes the ball ends up in the net and you immediately think: “I changed my mind too late.”
But how late is actually too late?
I’ve been thinking about this because I don’t think changing your mind is necessarily a bad thing. You have to react to what’s happening on the other side of the net. But at some point your feet, spacing and body are already organized for the shot you originally chose.
You might still see the new option, but maybe your body no longer has enough time to actually play it.
I’m curious how other players experience this. Do you have a moment where you feel, “Okay, now I just have to trust the shot I already chose”?

If you’re in a doubles match and you happen to be able to hear your opponents talking to each other, do you actively listen in or do you block it out and/or move further away because it’s not fair?

2.5-3.0 level player opening myself to the possibility that I might be a one handed backhand player. Tried it out in earnest for the first time today on a wall and it just feels much better on my shoulder and clicks in terms of generating power in a way that the 2HBH does not. Not generating a ton of topspin just yet but I can hit it pretty cleanly over net level and kind of aim it. Also, can't confirm until I roll some tape but I feel like I look cool af.
Anything I should know as I attempt to pursue this awesome power?

I am looking for a low traction shoes that will slide instead of abruptly stop. Gel X was great but I do not like the design. Between the two options above, which one do you think is more slippery?

Last night the opponent hit a drop shot that landed inside the service box, I chased it down hit it back over and the opponent played the ball. After seeing it was going out he asked was it a double bounce. I said it was a double bounce but you continued to play and only asked was it a double bounce once you saw you lost the point. Am I wrong for not giving up the point?
Update. I lost the match btw.

I'm an admitted gear nerd, far too concerned about little things on the margins that don't matter. That said, we're all here for each other, right? I need help finding a good cross string. I've been through a lot of mains and am settling on Confidential 1.15 as my favorite. I generally prefer the feel and playability of hybrid stringbeds.
I was managing elbow pain for a while and running various soft poly or syn gut/multi cross strings. The elbow pain has gradually resolved, mostly through technique improvement. Most recently, I threw in some 1.30 alu power rough that I had lying around as my cross, and I'm really liking the feel and the response. I'm getting feedback without any harshness, and the right blend of pocketing, power, control, spin, and spin modulation.
The early tension loss, early dying, high cost features of alu power make me uninterested in that as a long term option, but I'm looking for some recs for something that will give me a similar response while lasting longer. 4G Soft, MSV CoFocus, Tourna Big Hitter Silver, Toroline A5, and Restring Sync are some of the options that I'm considering. Thanks!

The first clip is me serving around 3 weeks after I started playing tennis. Fast forward to 3.5 months, and the second clip shows where my serve is now.
I’m still learning and trying to improve my technique.
I’d appreciate any feedback on what I’m doing well and what I should work on, especially my toss, timing, and overall service motion.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! 🙏🏾🎾

I am a decent baseline player. I have been playing for about 2 years and I simply dont get how to get my forearm to pronate whilst hitting a flat serve. I dont really know how to hit a better serve. Any drills I could do to learn an effective and reliable flat serve? Is pronation a thing you do actively during serve or do you dont even need to think about it during it and it simply happens naturally?
