Equipment Help me find a cross string

I'm an admitted gear nerd, far too concerned about little things on the margins that don't matter. That said, we're all here for each other, right? I need help finding a good cross string. I've been through a lot of mains and am settling on Confidential 1.15 as my favorite. I generally prefer the feel and playability of hybrid stringbeds.

I was managing elbow pain for a while and running various soft poly or syn gut/multi cross strings. The elbow pain has gradually resolved, mostly through technique improvement. Most recently, I threw in some 1.30 alu power rough that I had lying around as my cross, and I'm really liking the feel and the response. I'm getting feedback without any harshness, and the right blend of pocketing, power, control, spin, and spin modulation.

The early tension loss, early dying, high cost features of alu power make me uninterested in that as a long term option, but I'm looking for some recs for something that will give me a similar response while lasting longer. 4G Soft, MSV CoFocus, Tourna Big Hitter Silver, Toroline A5, and Restring Sync are some of the options that I'm considering. Sync is a pretty popular cross for a reason

Because its a round poly with coating. The shape allow the main string to snapback easier, helping with spin and durability of other shaped poly such as tourbite, mach 10 etc

Tourna BH is pretty good but not great tension maintenance. Usually cut out after 20 or so hours, but would do another 10 if i didn’t string myself. It’s better with longer maintenance string in the mains. My go to rn is Tourna S7 Tour XBH. Sync is also good esp w another slick string

I tried A5 as a cross for a few months. It’s fine, but honestly not significantly different than a full bed of O Toro Tour, which is my main. Decided it’s not worth the cost for me, but if you like it, it will absolutely last longer than your mains and give similar feel to ALU.

I tried a hybrid of Zero and Sync and hated it. One time was enough for me there. Felt very stiff and launchy, worst of both worlds! I couldn’t tell which string was doing what, but I gave up on Restring after that experience.

Full bed of Confidential is my second favorite string of all time, so if your hybrid experiment stalls out, just string your crosses 1-2lbs lighter with a full bed and get most of the same benefits.

Coming from a 3rd world country with limited string options: try the dunlop black widow ! I find it arm friendly and it’s shaped so should bite the ball more
