How to cut up my dads train set cleanly?

Post image
642 Upvotes

When my dad was dying we decided to do one last project together. So we built a small train set. He designed each part of it with a grandkid of his in mind. One loves horses so he put in mini horses. One loved westerns so he put in a little gun battle. We spent months on it. We loved doing model building together. Rc planes, trains, model planes etc etc. now that he’s dead I want to share it with my siblings and their kids. No one is interested in keeping it intact. I want to cut it into pieces and make a diorama of different sections and give it to the sections that are about each grandkid to them in a nice wood box they can see any time they want. Any suggestions on how to cut it cleanly without distorting it? Think 8x12 sections.

[Solved] Can I safely cut this RGB strip?

We're currently assembling this, and we've noticed that the LED light strip is significantly longer than what's shown in the instructions. However, the instructions don't mention trimming it and there are no marked cutting points on the strip to indicate where it would be safe to cut. Is it safe to assume we can trim it to the appropriate length, or would doing so potentially damage the strip?

Radiator help - noise and heat

Post image
• Upvotes

I’m unable to post a video here for some reason, but my radiator is making a ridiculous amount of noise. The steam coming out is causing it. I have my radiator knob turned fully off because otherwise it’s about 95°. However, it’s still about 80° in here. My question is, is there anything I can do to make it less hot and also why is there’s so much steam coming out and it’s so noisy? It wasn’t like this in previous years and I’ve lived here for a while.

Serious Answers Only Friend drove through a “dusty” area of the highway, construction was going on. I’m assuming they were cutting the road or pouring concrete because she’s got this material on parts of the car. A car wash got a lot off but how to get rid of the rest?

As the title says, she was driving down the highway and there was construction going on. The air was dusty and when she got home she saw all of this material under the car. Nothing on the absolute bottom it’s mainly on the edges of the body and tires. She went through a car wash once and it got a good chunk of it out but there’s some remaining. She wants to hit it with a hose but I’m wondering what the best way to clean the remainder is. I’m assuming it’s like concrete dust or something in the air.

How to remove this picture from the glass

Thumbnail

I have looked at previous posts similar to this and the consensus seemed to be to go to photoshop requests, but I wanted to ask anyway just in case.

This is a high-res digital painting done by somebody on photo paper but whoever put it in the frame used double-sided tape on the back, and there is something sticky on the front that has already caused a small rip.

Is there any Safeway to remove this from the glass? My thought was to submerge in room temperature water for a bit and try to slowly separate. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows who this artist is, that would be cool.

Serious Answers Only How to clean out grime from the inside of shoes

Throwaway because Im too embarrassed to have this on main.

I have a pair of platform mary janes that I wear to work. I wore just the shoes without any kind of socks or hosery for like, a year, and my shoes smell BAD. I recently found stockings that work like socks, but everytime I take my shoes off they still stink and there is a layer of grime adhered to the bottom of my socks on the heal and ball of my foot.

Does anyone have any advice to clean these? I cant pull the sole of the shoe out.

How can I fix this discolored patch on my jacket?

Hi guys,

I recently bought this jacket from Stradivarius. It has a waxed effect finish with dark green and olive tones that change depending on the lighting.

After washing it, I noticed that one are became noticeably lighter, as if I had lost some of its color or finish. The care instructions say it’s machine washable at 30 degrees, which I had did.

I wanted to restore it, but I’m not sure how to do it without damaging the fabric further.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there any way to restore the original color or waxed effect?

Thanks in advance!!

I can't figure it out, the water pressure is off, the filter is the right size, but I can't get all the way in. We just hooked up the water so this is the first time installing the filter.

The cap just spins along with the bottom part. It’s not “tight” enough on the bottle to separate so we can’t get it open. Any recommendations?

Solved! Thanks all for your recommendations

Serious Answers Only Need help taking apart desk

I got this desk second hand recently and I really love it but I can't get it up the stairs as it is (my stairs have a narrow corner near the top) so I have to separate the top shelf part from the rest but I have no clue what I'm doing. I've tried googling and it says I need to point the cam locks towards the panel of wood im trying to disconnect it from but I've tried multiple times and tried doing it on like every screw I can but i can't get it to work, so i think i must be doing something wrong. I really need help so any advice would be appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻

How to remove super glue from clothes?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everybody , sorry if this isn’t the right sub for this.
Recently on a night out my heel broke. We purchased super glue and stuck it back together, but i accidentally got some glue on my jacket sleeve. It’s a faux leather jacket with wool sleeves (i am assuming since it was second hand) and the superglue is on both materials. Should I just accept it or is there any way to get this out or at least minimise it without damaging the jacket? I’m really hoping for the latter.
Any help is appreciated, thank you

Cutting chalky/dusty meds - help!

Hello! My dog has a pain med that needs to be cut in half. The problem is, the pill is super chalky and doesn’t cut evenly. I’ve tried a knife and a pill cutter. Both leave a mess of dust and an uneven cut.

Does anyone have any other ideas or luck using something else? If it helps, I get his meds filled through Costco.
