Trying to disassemble my bed but this screw is stripped and I need a 90 degree ratchet just to reach it. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this out?

What type of weatherstripping is this??

Hello all, I’m having trouble tracking down this style of weatherstripping for the door that leads from the house to the garage. It’s t-shaped and fits into the groove cut around the inside of the frame. House was built in 1980, I had to remove the door to sand and paint and replace all the hinges and trim etc. The weather stripping looked crusty as hell so I need to replace it but all stuff I’m finding is for newer style doors and I really don’t want to just use a peel and stick. Any help to find something that is like the original would be very appreciated, tyvm

Refrigerator door cams

I purchased a floor model Frigidaire French door unit five years ago from Lowe's. The doors have never swung shut by themselves and have been driving my nuts ever since.

Although I have done many refrigerator repairs, I had no knowledge of closer cams. In researching, I see that the door lifts slightly when opening, and then the oposite to self close. I will assume that the original assembly left these out, as I see nothing like a cam in there.

Are there two halves, or what? any help with this is appreciated.

OPEN Halloween prop broken

Post image
1 Upvotes

This Halloween prop is supposed to have the skeleton pop out when a sensor goes off. A kid broke it by forcing the lid closed last year. Now, when the lid tries to open, it gets stuck in a short cycle, like maybe the teeth on a rotating mechanism can't catch. Idk if that's what's happening though; I'm going to have to disassemble it to see what's going on. Any ideas on how to fix?

Antique concealed door closure.

Im working on a Rixon number 36 concealed door closure. Which the internet says doesn’t exist. Tennant has said that one of the doors slam shuts. One of the doors doesn’t close at all. I have tried looking for any sort of closure or latch valve adjustment. Can’t seem to find one. Only things I can find is the park open mechanisms (knob and prongs with wire). I’ve done some digging on the Interwebs. I find that the adjustments could be under the rail system. so I tried to take it apart. Well the dang thing won’t come apart, even though I’ve removed the two screws holding down the top railing. I don’t want to force it apart and bend the railing.

I’m hoping for the needle in the haystack chance that someone has worked on this model before.

Window doesn't fully close

Hi everyone,

I have a tilt-and-turn window in my room, but when I close it, there’s some play on the side of the handle and the upper part, and the window doesn’t sit completely flush against the frame. As a result, more noise gets in, along with a bit of wind. Is there a way to tighten the window’s locking mechanism? (The mechanism uses a spring-loaded plate along the side, and there are corresponding plates on the frame, I’m not sure what these are called.)

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this!

Failed clear finish separating

Post image
2 Upvotes

Greetings all, currently restoring a car interior and this veneer around my radio is bothersome. You can see the separation of the clear finish from the veneer above the manual switch and I was thinking about ways to fix this without totally stripping it and putting new clear coat on. I can separate this plate from the head unit to work on, and I was planning on finding some kind of glue I could inject that would dry totally clear to bond it. The little cracks everywhere don’t bother me as much but eventually I may fix it 100%.

This door is about three years old and randomly the lock popped off? How do I fix this? It looks like it should just screw back in but it didn’t when I tried (granted it was kinda quickly as I have two toddlers running around.)

yeah we got it second hand. but its loose, like when u grip some "white things" it comes out from the nail.

i believe its made from thin plastic pipe, and iron rode as the main up to down support.

i feel like fi we proceed with nails, its not gonna stand to long since there are alot of holes in the plastic itself

Water damage in bay window

Hi all. A relative’s blinds fell down about a year back and revealed this beneath it. One thing lead to another and repairs got put off time and time again, and at this point im not sure where to start.
My question is who should I even contact to fix it, and what can I do in the meantime? Apologies if this is a no-brainer! im totally new to this and out of my depth…

open Ver long desk sagging

Good day everyone,

I just assembled this long office desk (about 87in) made from particle board from Wayfair, but I don’t want it to sag in the middle when my girlfriend and I start adding monitors and other things on top. I’ve never owned a table this long, and I’d like it to not sag in the middle. There are 4 metal beams running under the desk, 2 on each side, but there’s no metal legs. I’ve attached the pictures to this post.

My questions are:
How likely is it to sag?
What can be done? (I dont have a lot of tools beyond a drill and a handsaw)
How much time do I have before it starts sagging?

Just installed a new doorknob. Why is this happening?

Door knob gets stuck when I turn to the right, but not when I turn the left. Old door knob didn't do this. The problem seems to get better if I loosen the screws, but then it wobbles on the door. Help please!

Edit: Thanks for all the great advice! I'll look into trying it systematically tonight and report back. I love Reddit.

Thrift Furniture, Seeking Advice/Experience

Post image

Got home with a piece I really liked and found that inside one of the drawers was some unknown damage. It's warped like something spilled in it, with this white powdery crystally stuff on it, and smells like sour whiskey? Smelling it gives me a headache.

Before I start trying to clean, is this something I should be triple cautious around? Any advice on cleaning/restoring? Do I need to replace/rebuild a drawer?
