If Blizzard really wants the game to be about the ājourneyā and wants to extend its longevity, I genuinely think December 9th is too soon for raids to open (maybe even WAY too soon). Donāt get me wrong: I absolutely love raiding, and Iām extremely excited to dive into the new content with my raid team. But when I look at the time between release and raids opening and do some quick math in my head, the number of hours a day Iām going to need to play just to check off the boxes (farming pre-BiS gear, leveling professions, farming consumes and gold, and getting my epic mount) is kind of crazy...
And before you say, āWell, none of that is required before raids,ā or āThe raids are going to be easy. Who cares about all that?ā Iāll say this: sure, thatās fair, but I care about that... And I donāt think Iām alone in feeling that way. I like improving my character as much as possible before entering raids, for my own sake, because I like to parse, but also for my teamās sake, because I respect their time as much as I respect my own. I donāt want to be the guy holding the team back.
I personally love the expansion launch vibe more than any other point in the lifetime of a typical WoW expansion: leveling to max, grinding professions, farming gold, doing the new dungeons to get your pre-BiS gear, etc. That period is so much more fun than the āmoving from one raid tier to the nextā part of the game.
Iām even more excited this time around, given that Blizzard is making an effort to obscure the loot tables and "unsolve the game". We donāt even know what dungeons we want to run, what bosses we need to farm, or what crafted items are available. Everything will be way less streamlined, which is a good thing! The process of leveling to 60 and checking off all those endgame boxes is completely unknown with all the new content. This release timeline is pressuring a lot of people with this mindset to rush through a lot of the content instead of getting to enjoy the discovery, all the newly added content and quests, and the general vibes of the newly launched game.
Would pushing raid opening day back genuinely make anyone upset? Is this a hot take? Iād love to know other peopleās feelings. Iām sure Iām not the only person posting about this.
Cheers
