Crazy car accident on Columbia. Recorded from my window. Excuse the quality as this is a screen recording from me being on FaceTime lol.

I think the guy getting in the truck previously crawled out of the red car, not 100% sure about that though. Maybe was trying to get away? Evidently he did not. People held him on the ground until police arrived.

I love Waterloo sosoosososo much

Genuinely not even trying to joke or anything sorry I didn’t know what flair to use but I love this university so so so so so much and am so grateful to be here. Living alone is the best and I am so glad to be away from all the yelling and my family’s debt problems and just be on my own and focus on myself. I could have a brick fall on my pinky toe and still be happy probably

I absolutely love it here and I love the challenge and I love the difficulty and the headaches and the imposter syndrome from the cracked FAANG internship kids who know python C C++ SQL HTML and more and all about APIs like the back of their hand and grind leetcode hard every day. I am much “worse” than all of them in terms of employment but still I love those people because they all motivate me so much.

Just got 58% on one of my midterms that I barley studied for sadly I need to catch up but holy hell am I grateful and yes it’s not a good grade little less than 20% below class average but again the average person in Waterloo is CRACKED usually and even if not I am so happy I thought I did much worse.

Beyond that, every single time I write a test or quiz or a midterm in this uni, yeah I get sometimes sad when I see results and thought I did better but wow it’s actually so fun to write the assessments. No joke I had the most fun in high school when writing the Euclid and other Waterloo math contests, I did horrible on them but it was so much fun and this feels just like that feeling. I love delta and epsilon proof of limits and I love going through the entire 137 textbook and trying every single question and looking at the examples does this waste time probably but it’s so much fun. Not sure how long this will all last because I’m in 1A and have two more study terms to go (seq 4) but I am so incredibly happy this is so much better than high school where I was always stressed out. I hope everyone is having an amazing day stay blessed and curious!!!!!!!!!

Shitpost If I fail this CS midterm I will just drop out and marry Cobalt the Dinosaur

Title. I just am tired of looking at so many proposition symbols and doing Davis-Putnam procedure with n variables and thinking about Boolean algebras and Boolean rings and remembering the difference between tautological equivalence and syntactic equivalence. If I fail I will drop out and go marry Cobalt (he is clearly a professor and can thus financially support me) and we can buy a nice house or an apartment in a decent suburb like Burlington or Oakville. I think I deserve a nice life in Burlington or Oakville. I will find a job that is not evil and does not cause suffering and not vibecode solutions to a company that will try to replace minimum wage workers with AI solutions. We can go on nice brunches on Sunday and own tasteful pieces of art and perhaps adopt a human or (we use inclusive or here) dinosaur child. When he gets ragebaited by a first-year honours science student I will be there to comfort him. When I am struggling to fix our mid-range coffee machine he will hand me a screwdriver and tell me it is ok. Yes yes I know he is a dinosaur. The fact we are both male is not an issue. As an ambassador to the science faculty he will be very open-minded. Please, please. I go to this course that is 8:30 AM in the morning every Tuesday and Thursday. I attend tutorial on Friday. I answer the questions that the poor TA asks even though there is a single-digit number of people in the room. I even chuckle whenever the professor puts up a joke on the slideshow and asks why is this joke funny? in red. All I ask is that I pass the midterm or (we use inclusive or here) I marry Cobalt. I would think I deserve it.

I'm so FUCKED

Basically I'm interviewing with a couple of companies and this one company actually told me that I passed all my interviews but then they were like "ye nah we can't offer you an internship because our plans changed" and like WTF DAWG. You should've told me that BEFORE you decided to interview me.

Now I'm hella nervous cuz I only have one other company who could potentially give me an offer and if they fuck me over as well Im literally cooked and I have pull some generational comeback out of my ass to find an internship for next term.

idk why I felt like ranting on reddit, gonna kms

looking for friends at uwaterloo 🤩

hiii!! i'm hoping to meet some new people and make some genuine friendships!! uni has been a bit of a social adjustment, and i'd love to find people to talk to, study with, hang out with, or just send random nonsense to throughout the day lol

i'd especially love to meet people who are also looking to make friends and put effort into getting to know each other!! no pressure to have everything in common— i am very easily fascinated by anything anybody wants to explain or talk about. i’d love to hear about the things you're interested in ! (i get especially excited when i see somebody super passionate about their interests!!)

feel free to comment or message me if you'd like to chat!!

Advice math 135 midterm grades ://

im sure there's been more posts about this- but this was like my first proper midterm in college and im genuinely disappointed- For assignments W1 to W3 I was scoring in the high 90s cuz well I could do them at my own pace (made very minimal use of AI, genuinely). Even in the first proper quiz, I got an 85% which ensured me that I'm on the right track- and honestly I thought my midterm didn't go bad at all- I was expecting 70 minimum but ended up with a crazy 60.7- im a crazy 11% below the class average which is wildddd because that wasnt the case for the prev quiz and assignments- i did not expect this at all because I'd genuinely studied for it- i do believe that marks were cut for miniscule things but im sure thats how its been graded for everybody- idk if i should request a regrade (idk if there's much scope for an increase, is checking more lenient during regrading or nah?), idk how i should deal w this because im genuinely so mad-- this is especially disappointing because its literally the first one that i got back and this is really not the way i thought it would be- any advice/thoughts?

Math Waterloo Struggles

Just got my Math 135 midterm back, got a whopping 62.5. I’d like to say I’m shocked by It,
But honestly I’m not. Studied a shit ton for it as well, talking probably 25 hrs+ over the course of 4+ days. I’m in math Bba and have been doing really well on that side. Haven’t really broken a sweat there and did good on all my Laurier midterms. I wrote my Math 137 midterm last night which I also studied a lot for and got fried on that as well. I guess I’m just here to ask if it gets better? Or if anyone else has had a similar experience and what they’ve done to bounce back I guess. I really do enjoy all the classes, especially the math ones and it’s just kind of Dissapointing I’m doing so poorly. My study habits are good, I go to all my classes, do the textbook questions and try hard. Anyone have any advice?

Advice Getting a midterm deferred(?)

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well.

I have a midterm tomorrow for my 4th year bio class however I don’t think I’ll be able to take it tomorrow. Yesterday my grandmother passed away and today my family and I are holding her funeral.

To be honest, I’m in no good mental state to take that midterm. It’s worth 15 percent but it was also a class I was enjoying as well. I’ve been taking care of my family and grandma for the last two weeks, barely giving myself the time to study. I would just complete my assignments last minute.

As a 4th year, it’s embarrassing that I still don’t know the process of deferring an exam, because I never had a reason to until today. I don’t know where to start and who to contact right now.

If any of you have advice then please help me.

Short term absence issue for my course

Hello!

I am a student who don't use short-term absence a lot but I was very sick and unable to do a midterm that was on Oct 22. I submitted a short term absence the day before the midterm and notify the instructor though email that i declare short term absence and cannot do the midterm. They haven't reply because they teach at many schools so I went to them today to tell them i missed a midterm and declared a short-term absence. They said that a short-term absence is not proof of sickness, and I need to show proof that I was sick, like giving them a doctor's note. I don't get it because on their syllabus they said they follow the policies for sickness and have a website link on their syllabus, and the link I clicked says I could use a short-term absence and I can miss assessments if they were on a formal lecture period. I contacted the advisor about it, so I hope the instructor can accommodate. Should i still give a doctor's note that i was sick last week? I hate getting stuck in this, as this is my last year in university

Social Looking for a study partner

I’m taking MATH 137, MATH 135, and CS 116 this term. My grades are pretty average, and I’m looking for someone to think through problems with. Grades don’t matter to me. I mainly just want to work together to solve problems. The only issue is that my English isn’t very fluent.

Lost and Found Lost & Found Watcard

I found a lost watcard under one of the tall SLC tables, the one closer to PAC, it seems to belong to first year math student girlie, having been issued in August, if you think this is you, please reach out to The Centre in NH as I turned in there. 💛

Putnam registration

I really want to try doing the Putnam. I know I’ll probably get a 0 on it, but I’d love to try. Does anyone know how to register?
