Hey! I’m working toward my associate’s degree and plan on transferring to UVA through a GAA in Fall 2027. I’m pretty set on UVA, with my only concern being meeting the GPA/course grade requirements. From what I’ve heard from friends and what I’ve read online, waiting until the spring to look for an apartment means I’ll get crappy housing, expensive housing, or a delightful combination of both. On-campus housing also isn’t guaranteed for transfers.

Does anyone who transferred or has insight into the process have any advice? Specifically, when did you start looking for housing, and did you sign a lease before or after receiving your admission decision?

I’m expecting to meet my GAA requirements, but I still have a lot of courses ahead of me, so I think it’s reasonable to be hesitant to sign a lease this early. For context, I’m in an accelerated degree program, so my “years” are condensed into semesters. Basically, I’m only 1/4 done with my associate’s degree. I appreciate any comments or feedback!

My friend and I are planning a trip down with our daughters to see a football game and to visit some of our old stomping grounds.

We plan on going to: Pippin hills, Scott stadium (game day), we have an awesome tailgate parking spot, the corner…we don’t have plans to take them to see anything downtown …but Do you have any recommendations for things to do downtown with young kids?

I’m looking into transferring to uva, I’m from nova and I had a 4.3 in Highschool but I was rejected (assuming cause I’m from nova). I currently have all A’s at JMU but I don’t like the environment here. Please if anybody has any advice or can help me I’d really appreciate it

Taking the wife and two boys aged 13 and 11 to college park MD for the game on Friday, Nov. 13. In my limited experience, Maryland fans haven’t always been the best well mannered.

I‘m a prospective first year (just submitted my ED application, fingers crossed!) and am wondering whether or not the IRC would be right for me. For context, I did an exchange year my junior year of high school and love learning new languages/about other cultures. I’m not a partier and am not planning on rushing (I’ve heard IRC/residential colleges overall is good for people not in Greek life because it provides a solid community, but of course I don’t know if this is true or not since I’m not at UVA rn). But, I am bit worried because I do want to make lots of new friends freshman year/get integrated in the class, and I don’t want this to be the reason I miss out on friends living in the regular dorms/not feel like a part of campus. Also, are the dorms themselves good quality? What are y‘all’s experiences with the IRC/what would you say for how it was as a first year?

This December, St. Anne's-Belfield is hosting two FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying tournaments, and we need 60+ volunteers each day to run them. No experience is required, and training for every role happens on-site.

• Qualifier 1: Saturday, December 12

What is FTC?
FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics competition for students in grades 7–12. Teams design, build, and program robots that compete on a 12' × 12' field, in alliances with and against other teams. Each match opens with a period where the robots run on their own, followed by a period where students drive them. This year's game, BIOBUZZ™, is inspired by the natural world.

The details:

• Both technical and non-technical roles are available.
• Most roles run from about 8:00am to between 4:00 and 6:00pm.
• Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
• Adults and high school students (15+) are welcome. Volunteers under 18 need a parent or guardian to complete their consent form.
• Registered volunteers will get a schedule and more details by email closer to the event.

For those who have taken phys 2720, how hard was this class and were there midterms and final for this? I heard it was group based on but how much of it was actually group based?

34 ACT, 5's in Calc BC, AB, and Lang, and 4's in chem & bio (we have an AP limit at our school)

I have 4 national/international awards (isef, conferences, international contests, etc.) and won my state science fair 2x

i'd say i have leadership in most my ECs too

i don't know whether if applying engineering will increase my chances so i'd love some expertise on that and if that matters bc i wanna apply for chemistry & global studies
and obvi i'd really love jefferson too so i jsut need to make sure i get in

Is there anybody who was/has been accepted and didn’t have many community service hours but instead had a lot of work experience? I am in the same boat and just want to narrow my chances lol. Any feedback I would genuinely appreciate!

If you’re taking this class as well, how on earth are you guys studying and passing his exams with at least a 70% or higher? I did poorly on the last 3 and not only am I embarrassed but just confused. As far my studying method, I answer his learning objectives with active recall and when I still don’t understand I’ll research further, and then I’ll have quizlet or something generate practice questions. I also look back on the codon assignments and do the practice test and prep questions. My schedule conflicts with p2l sessions

Ok so I’m looking to switch apartments I currently live in Lambeth and my roommate situation has just had too severe of an effect on my mental health but I hear they’re stingy on giving out room switches and don’t know if this will justify a switch in the eyes of the housing people. For anybody who’s gotten approved to move from one on grounds apartment to another can you please tell me what I need to do to get approved

After seeing all that we have from Beau Pribula and his inability to make good decisions, TE's insistence on keeping him in despite having another P4-capable QB on the roster, does it seem Eli could ditch UVA this off-season?

I know it is very early to speculate, but something in the back of mind feels he's growing frustrated with the lack of playing time and poor on-field performance from the team.

I honestly feel for the guy, because we know what he could be, but instead he's getting nothing out of standing on the sidelines.
