Discussion Phys 115 midterm 1
Did anyone else find Phys 115 Midterm 1 incredibly hard and long? I felt well-prepared for the material, but I ended up having to rush through all of the FRQs.

Just transferred with no set Halloween plan + no solid friend group
What are some well known things to do for Halloween? Especially for someone who's new to UW?
Or any activity in U District/U Village atp 😭

Has anyone taken hybrid math 224 or math 224 in general? I was wondering how hybrid changes it cause on my plan there is no difference, and how difficult the class is with Naehrig.
Any help in prepping for midterm 1 with Colleen Craig? What should I specifically review and find past midterms?

hii, i’m a third year who (because of a friend group breakup and some other things) doesn’t really have any close friends this fall and because of that i have no halloween plans!!! i’m kind of unsure what to do, i’m debating going to a party i know about but i don’t really have anyone to invite and i think it might be weird/unsafe to go alone? i just already have a costume i really like and i don’t want to spend the night at home like i did last year…
maybe this is the wrong place to post this, but does anyone have any advice? i’ve been feeling pretty sad this week at the thought that i might end up not doing anything and wasting my costume!

I am very interested in Scandinavian Studies/History along with the Swedish and Icelandic languages. I have also looked over the BA credit requirements and they line up with my interests. I'm interested in hearing from people who are actually in the program about their experiences with the faculty and classes.
Background: This would be my first time ever applying to university. I have all my credits for an AA Transfer degree.
I plan on attending one of the Transfer Thursdays soon. Do you have any advice on this specific BA program?

Hi all, ECON 200 midterms are coming up and I’m reaching out to those who have taken it before (preferably with Knox)
I’ve seen a lot of different responses to how I can succeed on the midterm mainly because it’s worth so much of my grade, and I keep finding varying answers on RMP and here on Reddit
Some people say to just read the textbook and do the practices tests, while others say that the practice test is nothing like the real test and that you should go to lectures and quiz sections, etc etc
It would be amazing if somebody could just give me a straightforward answer!
Thank you

Anyone have tickets to the volleyball game on Nov 8 vs Nebraska?
Hey everyone, I'm a UW senior studying in ECE.
Parents around Seattle kept asking me what UW is really like: dorms, majors, clubs, essays. Some were paying counseling companies thousands for answers any of us could give better.
So I built MatchMark, where local families or younger students can book one on one time with current UW students.
You could offer campus tours, real talk about dorms, clubs or your major, or college app help like essay feedback and interview prep. You set your own rate, families pay you directly, and MatchMark takes nothing.
Families or students always reach out first, and I review every request before anyone is connected. You just need a UW email.
And yes, there is no catch, it is really completely free as I just built this as something that could help us out to make a little bit of income in our free time. Only fee is that you would have to pay a one time fee of background check before being connected with a family or student, which most of the time would be covered in one session.
Questions welcome in the comments or DMs!

Hello! I'm a UW student volunteering as an RA for the Brain Environment Alcohol Research study. We're currently looking for participants to wrap up our study this fall. If you love grabbing a couple of drinks each week or going out, you should definitely fill out our interest form! You could earn up to $260 and get a free MRI scan; the best part is that it's right on campus.

Are student ambassadors paid? How much do they make and are there student leaders too?

Hi! I'm considering taking CFRM 440/540 (along with 410) winter quarter. How have people's experiences been with the workload of the class? John F Stewart and Winston Pun are teaching it if that adds any helpful context!

Less a discussion and more just requesting some opinions/advice!
Let me (F24) preface this by saying: Over the past couple of years I kinda went through something traumatic and dont want to talk about it too much, but ultimately Im back from the dumps and trying to get back into the swing of things at UW! Its been rough and I know Im going to need help since a lot has changed in my life, which is why Im even talking to the OMAD counselors, but Im kinda unsure about what to do next regarding how I present at UW.
Ive been getting decent advice and help as a returning student, so I trust them enough to talk about the technical details but I wanted to ask: should I inform my OMAD counselor about my transition (mtf)? I hear a lot of transphobia on different socials coming from UW faculty and staff, and wouldnt want it to get in the way of me returning to classes, but also kinda assume that if there was anyone outside of typical trans-groups to be ACTUALLY supportive of a transition (and even give solid advice) then it would be the people who are literally just offering free advice.
I may just go ahead and inform them anyway, since maybe itll open me up to different scholorship opportunities (which I definately need right now) AND I have a meeting with them soon, but I wanted to get some differing/varying opinons on the matter before I do. And if everyone's pretty much in agreement as to what I should do, then Im also always happy to hear how I should approach (or any alternatives)!

Has anyone done a consortium agreement with financial aid? How was that process? I'm looking into it and one of their requirements is that the class isn't offered at UW and/or degree deployment + prerequisite needed.

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone who applied to the University of Washington Seattle for Winter Quarter 2027 has received an admission decision yet.
If you applied last year when did you get your decision, since I haven’t seen many updates about Winter Quarter admissions. I know decision timelines can vary, but I’m curious whether decisions have started coming out yet or if most applicants are still waiting.
I wanted to track how much money I was spending at the dining halls, but I was too lazy to track it myself, so I made Dining Pace, a chrome extension that allows you to easily track your spending.
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/dining-pace/iehighhhdjkhajddbngcifbkcnnlnlkj
it’s free, no login, and everything stays in your browser. just open up the view transaction history button under residential dining account. then click on the chrome extension and it will automatically organize all of your data into clean graphs. not affiliated with UW, just something i built. i hope you guys like it!

Please tell me there are others out there waiting for Winter 2027 transfer decisions lol...
I applied as a Comm major and I know decisions are expected sometime in November, but holy cow, this waiting game is frustrating lol. Especially as im coming from out of state and im trying to figure out housing and moving arrangements before January.
I've already been accepted to other universities and I'm honestly getting to the point where I'm considering moving forward with those options bc the anxiety is eating me up.
Has anyone heard anything yet or have any intel on when decisions might start rolling out? I just need to know im not alone at this point lol

Can someone please drop some Domingos lores?

As a second year, I’ve started to see no one wants to make new friends and let alone relationships too. Idk why people here are really closed minded bc you could just say even hi we don’t gotta be friends but ignoring them is like a whole new level. idk if it’s this generation with social media and whatnot but I’ve started to accept that id probably be alone for a long while unfortunately.
Id love to hear anyone’s thoughts on this!! FYI: I am in clubs and have been trying to make friends when I was a freshman.
