I don't know the backstory, I'm pretty sure they were rescued or surrendered, but these 4 turtles needed a place to stay for one night (30hours) and I volunteered since I had the room and I've fostered many animals before (rabbits, rodents and kittens), but never turtles. They told me they didn't need to eat for a day, and even though there's not much sunlight where they are (only a few hours in the morning) they're in direct sunlight for those hours (thus, the hidey house). I had a cardboard hidey but I replaced it with what you're seeing since I read it might be bad.

My question: there's one turtle with a bended shell (pyramid like). It's the one under the ramp, in the water. There's very little water because I wanted to avoid that one possibly drowning; they probably can't swim but can definitely move around. Do you think that turtle can get out? They were all in the towel at first but she went into the water and she's been there for almost 4hours now, so I'm worried maybe she can't get out? The others seem to be doing fine.

I know it's not a lot of space, but it's for one day. Should I change anything? Ty.

Hi! I have a painted turtle and I want to know, what's the best food to get for them? Pellets and greens.

Found last June in eastern Pennsylvania roughly the size of a US quarter at the time. Now it’s roughly the size of a silver dollar. We’ve been calling her a ‘she’ because I don’t know why.

I have had the worst luck with tank heaters, even the ones that are supposed to have the safety shut off if they are out of the water. I have replaced 3 heaters in a year for my 100 gallon tank. One actually caught on fire. Recommendations?

Just seeking advice: currently looking to set up an aquarium for a musk turtle. With mercury vapor bulb as the basking spot heat and uvb source. I’ve read if they’re not kept completely vertical in their holder, it’s reduces the life span of the bulb and it will burn out.
I bought an Arcadia holder and clamp but I can t get it vertical on my tank (no lid). Two questions:

1. your experience of mercury Vapor bulb and the vertical issue
2. handy solutions to a lamp holder if the vertical point is indeed accurate

Turtle needs help, neighbor is sick and can’t care for it. Plz help

Hello, my wife and I have had the pleasure of taking care of this handsome boy Apollo for the last couple years after “rescuing” him from someone who was going to euthanize him. He is about 9 years old and a red-eared slider who loves exploring the apartment while changing his 175 gallon stock tank. Unfortunately we have fallen on some difficult financial times and can no longer afford to continue giving him the care he deserves. If anyone is located around the Boston area and would be interested in taking him in, please send me a DM!

New to Reddit :) just wanted to say hi!

By which I mean, are they ever at risk of having something that they eat go into their lungs like humans are?

My turtle hasn't been on her basking shelf in a couple weeks, wondering why?? Any advice or opinions? Water temp or appetite hasn't changed so im at a loss.

A loggerhead and a green sea turtle were released today on Dauphin Island after rehabbing at the Mississippi Aquarium after being caught in fishing line at Gulf State Pier

One of my brothers recently got a Red Ear Slider. (His kids won it as a fair prize while they were out with their bio-dad- wasn’t his idea. Still horrible people use live animals as prizes still these days.)

The turtle is still quite young, and I know it needs Uv, hides, water and places to get out onto land to bask. I’ve been looking up diets and sending him links. (I breed mealworms so I’ll donate some for him to use from time to time to go with the greens and other things.)

What sized tank should I be looking for? I’m helping to keep an eye out for a set up for him.

I’ll also happily take any tips for raising it to pass along. Thank you for your time.

I’m a first-time turtle owner, and I’m still learning new things about my little turtle every day.
Yesterday morning, when I feed my turtle, I noticed two white spots on its claw.
One of the smaller spots was already there couple of days ago very small so I didn’t think it’s harmful, but yesterday I noticed a bigger one appeared as well.
I’m not sure what they are or whether they’re something I should be concerned about.
Has anyone seen something similar on their turtle? Could this be normal, or does it look like something that needs attention?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insight!
Thank you so much!

Hello guys, super weird thing happened. Was working when I suddenly saw this guy crawl from under a truck, have no clue how he even survived in that area with all the trucks passing and no food/greenery. Decided to take him home and feed him what I could, and a small shelter for now.

Any idea what it is, eats, or type of habitat??

I was blessed today to be able to rescue this gorgeous Green sea turtle. She has fishing line from mouth to front flipper and line around her back flipper with a bunch of tumerous growths on her. She currently in good hand at a rehab center in St.Augustine FL. Please pray that Miss Brownie(caught at Browns Creek Fish Camp in Jacksonville Florida) can be saved.

I have (kind of) figured out how to get my African sideneck turtle to eat his veggies. It's an infinite battle, but I'm trying hiding food inside the lettuce with frills (mustard greens) and it's kind of working, he's eating some of it with his food. If anyone has any more tips on getting your VEGGIE HATING turtle to eat their greens, would be appreciated 🫶

Turtle hasn't gone on her basking shelf in about 2 weeks. Water temp hasn't changed, appetite hasn't changed, i just never see her on her shelf anymore and normally I would. Any reason or advice to why?

Thanks

I have a false map, past days he wasnt able to submerge without trying hard, his bottom keeps floating him up, last time he ate was 2 days ago(he is an adult male) and he ate a guppy and a leaf of salad. What could cause this? Last night he sleept on the bottom of the tank without problem.

Found this box turtle out in my pasture today, and picked it up to move away from my dog. That was the heaviest box turtle I ever seen!
