ID Request ID request

Found last June in eastern Pennsylvania roughly the size of a US quarter at the time. Now it’s roughly the size of a silver dollar. We’ve been calling her a ‘she’ because I don’t know why.

What characteristics other than location helped you chose this ID? It’s difficult to tell from the pictures, but I don’t see any bright coloring typically associated with Easterns

Edit: I should have googled first. That’s definitely an eastern juvenile. They are protected and illegal to take from the wild

Box turtle, illegal to have in Missouri without permitting. Here’s a news article with more info. Realistically, if you willingly surrender to a wildlife rehab, no one will get you in trouble

ID requests require a general location to help properly identify species.

Example: Found in southwest Missouri.

If you have already done so or if this is a captive turtle, please report this message.
