Does anyone know anything about the new 28 Days opshop on Greenwood St?

Kia ora e te whaanau, this just popped up on my fb feed and I'm wondering if anyone has more info about this opshop/charity?? It feels fishy af, like one of those trojan horse 'pro-life' charities that guilt trip or delay pregant women so they don't seek abortion. My spidey senses are tingling!! I ADORE opshopping so would like to be assured if I shop there my money is not going to those types of people. Thanks for any info!!

Warning: Gross. Woolworths Te Rapa putting visibly mouldy expired products in click and collect orders.

Staying home with a nasty bug at the moment, so tried click and collect for the first time. This is the kind of thing they’re picking.

How this was even still on the shelf, I have no idea. It expired in January and is VISIBLY nasty as fuck. Gross. Sure I can get my $1.20 refunded, but that doesn’t help much when you’re just trying to make some noodle soup and would need to make a trip to get it. Fucks me off, man.

Noticed these signs go up a month ago and wondered how long they'd last — only looked at them again today.

The kids are alright.

Hamilton council just voted for FPP

From Sarah Thomson's FB:

Yesterday the council voted 9-6 to change the voting system for the next election from STV (Single Transferable Vote) to FPP (First Past the Post) with no consultation.

The motion also included holding a poll on the voting system at the next election, but that would be AFTER it’s already been changed to FPP.

Fellow people diagnosed with ADHD

I am a full time solo parent who has been diagnosed with ADHD quite late who is feeling very isolated. I seem to struggle with friendships with neurotypical people just simply because of having to mask and then eventually it becoming to hard to maintain and the friendship is lost for whatever reason and the pattern always seems to relate to either a lack of understanding or acceptance or a perceived lack of understand/acceptance. So I am wondering if there were maybe other people in Hamilton with ADHD who are potentially in the same boat that might be interested in grabbing a coffee or something sometime. I just thought maybe I might have a better chance at making friends with people that understand what ADHD can look like and have more of an acceptance of someone who is neuro diverse however that may present because they themselves are neuro diverse.

(My RSD has me absolutely terrified of making this post but im trying to implement change)

I've been extremely curious over the years as to what sits behind this green retaining wall. It looks like a plywood shutter. I've heard stories of a tunnel connecting to the police station or the court house but nothing certain. Does anyone know?

Hospitality business advice

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been planning to open a self-serve frozen yogurt shop in Hamilton, similar to Yo-Chi in Australia and I’d really love to hear some opinions from locals.

The reason I chose Hamilton is that it’s a relatively large city and after doing some market research I found that there is demand but there isn’t currently a dedicated self-serve frozen yogurt store here. Another reason is that Hamilton is home to the University of Waikato and Wintec so there are plenty of students and young people.

My initial plan is to open the store somewhere in the CBD because of the higher foot traffic. However one thing that concerns me is that I’ve noticed quite a few vacant shops in the CBD and a good number of businesses have closed down, which makes me wonder whether the area is still a good place to open the store.

I’m from Auckland so I’d really appreciate hearing from people who live in Hamilton. Which streets or shopping areas do people actually spend time in these days and where do you want the store to be located? Any advice or local insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

I for one support more culture in the city. This piece expresses the artists feelings about the supermarket duopoly in a striking way. A nice contemplative addition to my morning walk.

My dad is on palliative care and we cant get him to the toilet anymore. Does anyone know where I can buy a bedpan TODAY in Hamilton? I've called Bargain Chemist, Chemist Warehouse and a bunch of smaller independent pharmacies and they dont sell them. Hospice Nurse and the District Nurses can't help and my dad needs to poop 🥺 help!

Anyone know of wholesalers or other options for buying black wood stain? Stuff is so expensive from Resene or Bunnings and I'm on the market for 20L+.

Armed cop in yard

There's an armed cop in my back yard. Apparently there in case a neighbor they're after hops the fence.

In Fairfield.

Anyone got any idea? I'm kinda nosey. Never actually seen an armed cop in person before. Must be a pretty dangerous person they're after if they're armed.

90’s kids - do you remember the fairy place?

I have a vague childhood memory of a place which hosted kids birthday parties in the mid 1990’s, it was like this “fairy” place and I can remember sitting in a room with all these “magical” things and a lady who we all thought was a real fairy, doing magic tricks.

Oh and she handed out film canisters with glitter inside. Does anyone else remember this or is it a fever dream?

Question :)

Hello :)

I was wondering if this was the right place to ask a question regarding prices

I'm a student at one of the highschools here in Hamilton and we are doing a project that requires information on what people are willing to spend on a product (for me it's a hot beverage such as coffee or hot chocolate )

It doesn't seem to be against the rules to ask this question and all the sources I've looked at are hiding everything behind a pay wall xd

Moldy cake new world

Bought a matcha cake ($44) from New World Rototuna and it was sour and moldy. It's best before was 07/10!
They did give me a refund, it was the decor cake brand.
When I went back inside to see the other cakes I could see mold literally on the outside of them!
Just posting so people are weary of those cakes

Nice Timber

I’m struggling to find anywhere that has nice looking/ quality timber, I find you go to mitre 10 or Bunnings and it’s the same wood laminated/glued together for the same expensive price and it’s just pine etc
Does anyone know where you can buy nicer quality wood for shelving or indoor furniture etc
