Insurance Diagnosis code that made my bisalp 100% covered
This code was a bitch to get. It may already be out there, but it took me months to navigate the fact that any ACA compliant insurance (in my case, blue cross blue shield of Texas, PPO, but that part doesn't matter) has clauses that will cover what they label to be permanent birth control at 100%. Sometimes they have a preference that will make one type of surgery covered at 80 and another at 100, but in almost all cases, a bilateral salpingectomy will be the one covered at 100% for ACA compliant insurance plans
I was only able to hold this piece of paper in my hand that had the code on it for all of 3 minutes while walking down a hallway, and it was the work of four months of phone calls, in-person visits, emails, and doctors visits to get. Other people might be able to get it more easily, but BOY HOWDY did Texas NOT want me to get sterilized even though I'm older with multiple kids. The hoops I had to jump through to make this happen were insane, and someone far younger than me would have given up (If anyone wants a picture of the paper with redacted info, I'm happy to DM)
PRINCIPAL ADMITTING DIAGNOSIS CODE Z30.2 58661
I did not pay a dime for the bisalp, not to the OB, not to the anesthesiologist, not to the medical facilities where the surgery took place. And now I'm sterilized in this cursed state, yay!
good luck ladies!
