Scientists speed up tests to protect satellite chips from radiation
PNNL researchers are using a multi-agent AI system called SciLink to analyze radiation damage in satellite chips within hours, a process that can otherwise take human teams weeks. The system combines data from several instruments, debates possible damage mechanisms, and assigns confidence scores to its conclusions, while scientists still verify the findings. Could faster testing make radiation-resistant electronics practical enough to reduce the heavy shielding satellites currently carry?
