didn't read sidebar Hot One Sixty blast from the past.
Just wanted to share this morning's crazy roadside freebie. Needs a good cleaning and the bindings are completely destroyed but whatever I'm gonna clean it up and try to rip this thing. It honestly looks like a blast to ride. I'm more of a skier than a rider tbh so I have no clue but i really hope this works out because š¤ is this a terrible idea? I can literally rent boards from the mountain I work at for free and don't ride that much but my kid does and I will occasionally trade in the skis to ride with him. this board will be an East Coast ripper if that matters and I won't be pushing it hard. Am I dumb?

Gear question Superpig vs Skunk Ape Camber for 300 pound snow giant
Hi there, Iām a husky boy looking for my 2026/27 pickup. Iām about 6ā3ā , 300 Lbs , size 14 and ride mostly on the east coast in Vermont and the Adirondacks in NY.
I mostly carve corduroy at resorts like Killington, Stratton, Gore and Whiteface.
My current quiver is the Burton Free Thinker (161w), the Skunk Ape ( 170 UW - C2 Banana rocker, not camber), and a Rome Mod Rocker (162W)
I like the skunk ape because itās wide enough for my big feet but doesnāt feel as stable on edge as the free thinker which is a twin camber but requires me to have a less than ideal stance
Although I am price conscious I donāt think $100-200 is going to weigh too much on this decision so donāt worry about that in the consideration.
Would love the communityās thoughts on this choice and canāt wait to see you all on the hill this season!
Edit: I should clarify, I bought the skunk ape C2 a few years back before they introduced the camber version

general discussion Snowboarding with patella tendonopathy
Ive been trying to recover from patella tendonopathy for a couple months now using loading methods recommended by my physio, but as people who have had this injury know the progess is slow. The issue is I am going to spend an entire season working and snowboarding in Niseko starting in a month or so and am obviously quite worried about how my injury will affect this. I was wondering if anyone had any experience dealing with this injury while in the snow and had any tips on how I could still snowboard and manage the pain.

Gear question Need help deciding my next board
A little context. I am a 40-year-old male. I've been snowboarding for the last 20 years. I've been riding a Jones flagship for about the last 8 years, but I'm getting kind of tired of having to push that board so hard. I'm more into just mellow cruising at this point. I ride predominantly on the East Coast. So I need a board that can handle icy and hard snow groomers. I really like the Jones lineup and I'm interested in the Stratos, Frontier, or Rally Cat. Does anybody have some recommendations for an older dad who is just wanting to enjoy the ride down the mountain?

Gear question Vans Infuse 2026 durability
Good afternoon everyone, what is your experience with the durability of the Vans Infuse 2026? Ive been riding my thirtytwo TM-2s for the past 4 years and theyāve been severely clapped out.
I ordered a new pair of the TM-2s (laced), as well as the Vans infuse in the same Mondo size (30cm), will return one of them (with tags still on) based off what people say and which has a better fit. Both were on a great sale online, otherwise Id try them on in store.
The professional reviewers have nothing but good things to say about the infuses this year. But looking at youtube comments and reviews on store websites, people say that the Boa breaks after several months, and the boot liner claps out really fast. The professional reviewers donāt spend as much time on one boot so I worry that they donāt get enough time to accurately assess the durability of the boot. I splitboard as well, so Iām definitely worried about the boa breaking mid tour lol.
My one issue with the TM-2s is I get pretty bad heel lift with them, no matter how tight. Even with the heel rings on each side. This has only gotten worse over time. Trying on the new TM-2s, I notice this is still not great. Iām hoping the Infuses can help fix this with the boa around the ankle.
Thank you!
Hereās my board/rider info, if it helps:
Intermediate to Advanced rider, much more freeride than freestyle
6ā2ā (~185cm), 225lbs (102kg)
8 years riding experience, about 20-30 days a year.
Resort board:
Jones Ultra Mind Expander 162
Union Falcor
Splitboard:
Telos Lemurian 167
Karakoram nomad

Gear question Jones Stratos vs Flagship
Hello!!
I am a 30 yo F and have been snowboarding since I was 6 yo. I usually snowboard Tahoe area (kirkwood, North Star).
I had a Capita Birds of a Feather last year and was really not a fan. It feels too playful and flexible for me and also gives back quite some chatter.
Iāve had a Jones dream weaver before and loved it, so Iām trying to decide between the 2027 Jones Stratos or Flagship. Iām looking for something that will handle all terrain well, do well in powder and also be substantial on ice or slush, I like to do some smaller park jumps here and there but otherwise like to carve.
Iām currently leaning more towards Stratos because I fear the flagship may be a bit much board for me.
Thank you in advance!

Gear question New board advice, lots of experience not a lot of board knowledge.
Looking for advice on what the heck kind of board do I get. Iāve talked to AI and looked through many past threads and donāt have conviction about anything.
East Coast, RIāer skiing VT & NH. Hit a pretty good balance of trees, groomers, and park - probably 10ish days/year. 15 years snowboarding, Iād say very competent. Just know jack about boards, coming from a 156 lib tech cold brew. 6ā0, 180-185 lbs.
My first thought is Capita, very unclear about what would be best for my purposes though - Outerspace living, spring break, indoor survival (thinking I want something more interesting than a DOA)? Bataleon
I thought I wanted a twin but maybe a directional twin would be better if I only ride switch 10% of the time. I also thought I wanted something great for high speed carving, but in reality Iām usually riding with newer people so maybe playful is better.
Also beginning to get more sold on something like an Alchemist, Custom Camber, Hometown Hero, mountain twin. Any advice welcome. Priority to $400-$500, but Iāll ride a board for 4+ years so one and done is best.
[and apologies for being one of many kinds of these posts - didnāt have luck in the discussion thread and not finding the recās Iām looking for in other threads]

OC Video headshot update! no more power switch, double tap to wake.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
quick update on the helmet sensor i posted about yesterday. got a ton of good feedback and testers from you guys, so hereās what i got done today:
- no more power switch. it turns itself off 5 min after you stop riding, and a double tap wakes it back up. car rides and bags wonāt wake it.
- pairing. every sensor has its own name now (mineās HeadShot-8304), and the app only connects to yours, so it never grabs your buddyās.
- size. a lot of you said it needs to be smaller, so the next version is about 30% smaller.
thanks to everyone who commented, a lot of what iām building now came straight from you guys. if you have any ideas or would like to be a tester hit me up
