It's such a good game and there's no official merch for it.
So I took matters into my own hands and came up with this
r/snowboarding • u/esidaraplas • 10h ago
Just wanted to share this morning's crazy roadside freebie. Needs a good cleaning and the bindings are completely destroyed but whatever I'm gonna clean it up and try to rip this thing. It honestly looks like a blast to ride. I'm more of a skier than a rider tbh so I have no clue but i really hope this works out because 🤙 is this a terrible idea? I can literally rent boards from the mountain I work at for free and don't ride that much but my kid does and I will occasionally trade in the skis to ride with him. this board will be an East Coast ripper if that matters and I won't be pushing it hard. Am I dumb?

Everything will be priced at $50.50 or lower.

Preface; I’m a gear nerd and I’m curious what the consensus is- or maybe there’s someone here with some insider info/has first hand experience. Not sure if there’s really a right answer here.
I bought a new tennis racquet recently and when doing research it surprised me when the general consensus is that racquet tech barely changes year by year. Some people even saying I could use something from 15+ years ago and unless I’m some sort of unknown prodigy; I likely won’t ever know the difference to a brand new 2026 model. The best example is some pros often use 5-10year old gear just repainted to match the outgoing model of their sponsor for marketing.
So it got me thinking. Besides a slick new paint job, how much do you think boards actually change year to year? Apart from the major tech discoveries that kind of mark a new generation of gear; carbon stringers, sintered base, channel mount. How much time would have to elapse until a board is really “phased out” 5 years? 10 years? Never? Or is this new tech rolling out every year?
I see there’s board reviewers on YouTube always reviewing the latest models. But they’re always compared to similar boards from that year. What about its predecessor? I know many don’t replace their stick every year. But what if they did? Is there really something new goin on under the hood? Or are the annual polarizing graphics and coined tech just really good marketing.

I've only been snowboarding for about 5 seasons so definitely on the newer end, but a lot of the older guys I go with always talk about how the culture and social aspect of Skiing/Snowboading is dying.
Anecdotally, every trip I've taken (haven't been to Europe or Asia yet but hit most of the big resorts here in NA) are pretty quiet. Even the bars/clubs, etc that the resort touts seem to have a very clique culture, and no one seems to want to socialize.
Are these older guys just talking through nostalgia, and the culture kind of always like this? Is Apre only a factor in Europe?

Ive been trying to recover from patella tendonopathy for a couple months now using loading methods recommended by my physio, but as people who have had this injury know the progess is slow. The issue is I am going to spend an entire season working and snowboarding in Niseko starting in a month or so and am obviously quite worried about how my injury will affect this. I was wondering if anyone had any experience dealing with this injury while in the snow and had any tips on how I could still snowboard and manage the pain.

A little context. I am a 40-year-old male. I've been snowboarding for the last 20 years. I've been riding a Jones flagship for about the last 8 years, but I'm getting kind of tired of having to push that board so hard. I'm more into just mellow cruising at this point. I ride predominantly on the East Coast. So I need a board that can handle icy and hard snow groomers. I really like the Jones lineup and I'm interested in the Stratos, Frontier, or Rally Cat. Does anybody have some recommendations for an older dad who is just wanting to enjoy the ride down the mountain?

Buddy went on vacation to Seattle and happened to find a beautiful pair of barely used Nike Vapens in the Bred colorway for basically dirt cheap. I knew I had to have them once I saw them.
Update - previous pairs were my nike lunarendors that I bought from Marshall's for $80 but I outgrew those. Have a pair of Vans boots that I love currently as well.

Good afternoon everyone, what is your experience with the durability of the Vans Infuse 2026? Ive been riding my thirtytwo TM-2s for the past 4 years and they’ve been severely clapped out.
I ordered a new pair of the TM-2s (laced), as well as the Vans infuse in the same Mondo size (30cm), will return one of them (with tags still on) based off what people say and which has a better fit. Both were on a great sale online, otherwise Id try them on in store.
The professional reviewers have nothing but good things to say about the infuses this year. But looking at youtube comments and reviews on store websites, people say that the Boa breaks after several months, and the boot liner claps out really fast. The professional reviewers don’t spend as much time on one boot so I worry that they don’t get enough time to accurately assess the durability of the boot. I splitboard as well, so I’m definitely worried about the boa breaking mid tour lol.
My one issue with the TM-2s is I get pretty bad heel lift with them, no matter how tight. Even with the heel rings on each side. This has only gotten worse over time. Trying on the new TM-2s, I notice this is still not great. I’m hoping the Infuses can help fix this with the boa around the ankle.
Thank you!
Here’s my board/rider info, if it helps:
Intermediate to Advanced rider, much more freeride than freestyle
6’2” (~185cm), 225lbs (102kg)
8 years riding experience, about 20-30 days a year.
Resort board:
Jones Ultra Mind Expander 162
Union Falcor
Splitboard:
Telos Lemurian 167
Karakoram nomad

Hi there, I’m a husky boy looking for my 2026/27 pickup. I’m about 6’3” , 300 Lbs , size 14 and ride mostly on the east coast in Vermont and the Adirondacks in NY.
I mostly carve corduroy at resorts like Killington, Stratton, Gore and Whiteface.
My current quiver is the Burton Free Thinker (161w), the Skunk Ape ( 170 UW - C2 Banana rocker, not camber), and a Rome Mod Rocker (162W)
I like the skunk ape because it’s wide enough for my big feet but doesn’t feel as stable on edge as the free thinker which is a twin camber but requires me to have a less than ideal stance
Although I am price conscious I don’t think $100-200 is going to weigh too much on this decision so don’t worry about that in the consideration.
Would love the community’s thoughts on this choice and can’t wait to see you all on the hill this season!
Edit: I should clarify, I bought the skunk ape C2 a few years back before they introduced the camber version

In todays snowboard market, it’s getting tougher and tougher for smaller brands to stay independent. lots of brands are deciding whether or not its time they make the switch to private equity backing or permanently closing their doors. Last week signal snowboards made clear in a thank you post that they have no plans to sell or slow down. Signal has a long history of thinking outside the box to find creative ways to stay in business, most famously their build series “Every Third Thursday” in which they build snowboards out of everything from glass to whiskey barrels, and even a board with removable tip and tail. Despite their boards being primarily adopted by core park riders, as a brand they’ve pushed way outside what’s considered “core” or “cool”. They’re newest collab with Todd Richards featured a wonky pumpkinhead beanie many compared to an AssPizza design (despite Todd being around for decades before). Their other collabs include Pickle Stix (Eric “smelly” Sandin of punk band NOFX’s surfboard company) and the highly sought after Blood Wizard skateboards park pro. While their flagship lineup features tried and true classics like the Disruptor and Yup, Signal continues to take risks on the avant garde and goofy, keeping the sport fun.
With the current unease in the industry its more important than ever to support local shops and independent brands that give back to the community. There’s been plenty of brands that have recently shut down (Coalitions recent announcement, Kemper shutting down in 2024, and midwest brand Marhar in 2024).
Here’s the full message on signals ig:
Independent. It’s a word that means a lot in snowboarding. After twenty years of building Signal, I have my own take on it. Independent is all we know. We’ve spent twenty years making our own calls and figuring out how to make them work. When we get it right, we get to build on it and it’s exhilarating. When we get it wrong, we’re the ones who have to sit and try to sort it out. You can put everything into something and still have it miss. A graphic doesn’t quite land or the snow doesn’t show up. All you can do in those situations is pay attention, learn what you can, and dig back in harder. Independent does not mean solo. The work only ever moves when you have a team willing to go the distance with you. That shit is never easy. The people who’ve come through Signal and everyone building it with us now are the reason we’re still here. There’s one important truth to being independent. As much as we’ve hustled these last two decades finding new lines, elevating our designs, creating content and working with the best, there’s really only one person that matters: you.Signal has always been about connection, it’s right there in the name. The energy you put out and the people you attract. We are excited to make every more new friends and keep growing the Signal family this season. There’s lots to share. The heart of independence is having someone out there who cares enough to believe in it. Someone watching our videos, riding our boards, or even sending a kind message. It’s the only thing that keeps Signal alive, and it’s an honor to be standing. I can never express how grateful we are for that support. Our promise is to keep pushing the ball forward, this and every season.Thank you,Dave

Hello!!
I am a 30 yo F and have been snowboarding since I was 6 yo. I usually snowboard Tahoe area (kirkwood, North Star).
I had a Capita Birds of a Feather last year and was really not a fan. It feels too playful and flexible for me and also gives back quite some chatter.
I’ve had a Jones dream weaver before and loved it, so I’m trying to decide between the 2027 Jones Stratos or Flagship. I’m looking for something that will handle all terrain well, do well in powder and also be substantial on ice or slush, I like to do some smaller park jumps here and there but otherwise like to carve.
I’m currently leaning more towards Stratos because I fear the flagship may be a bit much board for me.
Thank you in advance!

Found these crab claw stomp pads (this is two of them) that are transparent so they wouldn’t cover up the graphics. Let’s see if they function as well as they look!

hey everyone, i’m a college student in utah and i’ve been building headshot, a small sensor that clips on your goggle strap or helmet and pairs with an app on your phone. looking for a few people to test it this season and tell me what sucks about it.
what it does right now:
what i’m working on next is coaching, like showing if your head turned too early or late on corks and rodeos, since head position leads the whole trick.
it’s still a prototype so expect bugs. i just want honest feedback from people who actually ride. comment or dm me if you’re down, and let me know where you ride and how often. utah riders are easiest since i can hand it to you in person.
Ski, MTB , SNowbaord.
if you want to know more about the product ask me or go to headshotmotion.com
if anyone has any ideas or suggestion feel free to let me know!
if you want to test, comment or dm me with:
i only have a few sensors so i’ll start with utah riders and send more out later in the season.
if you want to test, comment or dm me with:
on cost, i applied for a $1,500 grant through my college. if i get it, the beta sensors will be free. if not, they’ll be about $60, which is strictly what the parts cost me. on top of that if you hep me get data you ill get a discount on the sensor when the real one launches. looking for 10-15 riders.
i only have a few sensors so i’ll start with utah riders and send more out later in the season.

I’ve been looking at anon and their whole magnet system but it seems a little steep priced. I’m just wondering if it’s worth it and how they’re viewed in the snow board/ski community?

I've used a lot of different sites/apps, but curious if I'm missing anything good. Bonus ports for free/cheap/value
