How can anyone hate Sabrina? (And still watch the show)
I know everyone's argument is that she's a narcissist, but my counterargument is that she's a teenager. Most of them are narcissists, and her name is literally in the title of the show.
Sabrina is the only one of her kind. She is the only half-mortal, half-witch that there's ever been in all of witch history, at least in her universe. And as such she is paving her own path, she is making her own rules, because who else would have the right to do it for her? I mean she has her own subgenre of species and even though we've seen it before, hybrids that are half human, she was alone in it.
That's a lot on a 16-year-old's shoulders, but she puts that on herself because she knows that no one else will. She was raised in this dark world where mortal life means nothing—they're as minuscule as rodents and insects. Their lives have no meaning to any other witch, but she was also raised in the human world, and we do care about other people's lives, even those of us who aren't particularly religious, we care about right and wrong, we care about certain values that are altogether human. And so did she.
And the thing is she's not always wrong, she does have certain rights that no one else has, the rules do sort of bend for her. Remember when she had to fight the Angels, she was allowed on Holy Ground because she had been baptized and because she was half mortal. She was allowed to go to both witch and human school because again she had dual natures. And she also did have the power to do a lot of the things that other people told her she could not do (go to limbo, fight angels, beat the dark lord) the only problem was that she was manipulated and sabotaged by Lilith and the dark lord all along.
So let me leave off with this question, how many stories wrapped around hybrid children do you know where they didn't try to change the world or just change the rules so that they accounted for them as well? (Wizards of Waverly Place, Twilight, Blade, Vampire Academy, Shadowhunters, Hellboy) Sabrina's worlds could not have been more different. They were entirely opposite each other for instance mortal law is innocent until proven guilty witch law is guilty until proven innocent and those values go a long way in both cultures .
