I see it quite often that TTRPGs, especially indies, get condescendingly called D&D copies. Surely, many concepts found in D&D (and a bunch of other games, mind you) get reused in one form or another. However, people start calling games copies simply because they are d20, have classes or skills or whatever. I get it but I think in many cases this is quite disrespectful.

Hi everyone! Under Dimmer Stars is my game inspired by media in the likes of Castlevania, Diablo, Dracula, Elric of Melniboné, Heretic, The Witcher, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

It is a skill-based game where you roll a pool of d6s and keep two, aiming for a 10+. You can risk using Luck to reroll 1s, if you need it.

Characters are bound by their past, setting them on paths of redemption, vengeance, deliverance, or forgiveness. These paths may involve the same dark adversary or cross several of them and their lackeys.

The game hints at an implied setting that you can base your adventures on. I may expand this if people like it.

I launched my back log of playtest alphas, and they all have one goal: making survival stressful. If you're tired of "horror" games where players become untouchable by session three, these systems were made to fix that.

Rot-Weave is a dark fantasy game of existential dread. You've wake up suddenly free of the Architect's mind control. A ruined world of endless night, crumbling castles, and swamps. Normal food does nothing. To stop your joints from lockin, losing your memory, and turning you into a ravenous beast, you have to consume fresh human flesh or commit horrific acts.

Soot-Lined Veins Survival horror with Rust. You're trapped in the lower decks of a city locked behind welded steel quarantine walls The system throws out flat modifiers for step-dice. Every action forces you to roll two identical dice at once: a Feat die for success, and a Strain die for your hardware. If you push your steam-powered weapons too hard, your furnace pack can suffer a PSI rupture, shattering your health and shredding anyone near you.

Abjected divine horror at it's fineest, where salvation never came. God showed up, muttered "none are worthy," and started sweeping humanity away. The Angels you once worshipped, you now fear. The people who once trusted you, have mutilated their own bodies starting new religions. Your sheet tracks Body, Mind, and Soul instead of hit points and regaining them, you have to commit acts of contrition.

Science Fiction game writers often use unusual planet types as the back ground for their adventures. Such exotic planets are the stuff of science fiction. Imagine Star Trek or Star Wars without the exotic planets that they take their viewers to. These strange worlds are what makes science fiction so compelling. The chance to visit an alien world that is totally different than our own is the very thing that makes Science Fiction so interesting and exciting.

For those of you who have read any of my Cepheus Engine adventures will recognize many of these types of planets and worlds. Planets come in all sorts of types and sizes. Granted....after Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet status there does seem to be a lower limit to what is classified as a planet at all.

Some of the planet types listed below are known. Some are theoretical. Some of these types of worlds have been observed as exo-planets from far away star systems. And some are probably just the work of this writer’s imagination. But all make compelling places for an adventure to take place.

In this campaign, I am integrating eight years of previous works plus new content into a single sandbox world.

About the Campaign Setting:

Explore an uncharted world of feuding cults, drowned gods, toxic forests, haunted villages, and arcane experiments gone awry. Players choose their own path through a derelict kingdom: invent spells, exploit secret seams to build portals, and sail past the edge of the map.

Beneath all of this, something is calculating: landscapes mutate, people disappear, and strange psychological contraptions emerge from coffin farms. When players return, places they've already visited are altered. Pieces on an unseen, corrosive chessboard are moving chaotically: the longer the campaign runs, the more warped the world becomes.

The core of Demidirge is player-driven sandbox exploration. The game progresses through layers of discoveries; players are given a blank world map. Locations are revealed as they explore by placing map stickers on top of blank hexes.

The world is a living system shaped by factions feuding for power, but on another level, an unknown force has begun to mutate it. To avoid annihilation, players will need to confront this emerging mystery: exploit and subvert the setting by gaining knowledge, studying anomalies, inventing spells, and building portals.
