Hey all! After years of writing, editing, and drinking face-sized coffees, the first book of Pathways of Karr is out. It’s a passion project combining progression, epic, and survival fantasy, and I’m excited to finally let it loose beyond the walls.

The story's set inside a barrier world—three towns linked by river, protected by high stone walls, and surrounded by shader-infested jungle. Every progression step is hard-earned through training, fighting, and trial-and-error. Book 2 is already written and deep in the editing trenches.

Themes:

• Slow-burn progression
• Survival fantasy with day-to-day / slice-of-life realism inside the walls
• Underdog facing overwhelming challenges
• Clear ability milestones (with many still to be discovered). No stat screens beyond population and tier rank

Blurb:

An idyllic life, but for the death that stalks them.

Countless generations have carved safety from a ruined world. Hemmed in. Hunted. Defending their walls against shader-infested jungle.

The young choose a profession, decide what part they will play. Farmers, smiths, scribes… the roles are many, all vital in eking out another generation—and all paling beside those dedicated to war. This is the path Jotelan seeks.

Life, though, is rarely straightforward for a people spitting distance from extinction. The enemy, viciously predictable for centuries, is learning… adapting… taking interest in him.

Few plans survive such attention. Jotelan must find a new way forward, become stronger. Forge his own path.

And soon. For there exist far greater threats in this world than overrun jungles.

Available in other regions too, and on Kindle Unlimited.

I'm the author of Pathways of Karr. Happy to answer any questions!

Its as simple as the title states I've taken a liking to some academy style stories recently and wanted some recommendations. The pics are the ones I recently listened too and finished for now and im more keen to the quest academy style if anyone has listened too it and found similar one s

There's some amazing series in the sub that gets recommended over and over again. Cradle, DDC, Red Rising ect. I'd like to give some love to 2 series I almost never see in tier lists and hear very little about. I went into them not expecting much, but they blew me away with their quality!

The first one I want to recommend is Worth the Candle. I didn't read it for a while because the blurb didn't sound amazing, and the cover looked pretty boring to me. I had a couple of people recommend it, so I decided to give it a go, and wow just wow! I haven't finished it I'm listening to the audiobooks, so I'm only at book 5, but I've thoroughly enjoyed this series! The characters feel real and have real motivations, real consequences, and the magic system has rules and it follows those rules. I don't want to give away too much I think this is a series where it's better to go in blind and try to figure out what's going on, but I think it's amazing!

The next one is ironbound and I see this one recommend less often than Worth the Candle. This series is a Roman inspired system while also having tiers like Cradle with copper, silver, gold ect. I don't remember all the tiers cause it was a while ago when I finished the last book, but the series was one where it was really hard to put down, and I just wanted to keep reading! If you like progression fantasy with revenge, real character consequences, and a world with depth I highly recommend this series! Imo it takes some of the best parts of Rage of Dragons, Cradle, Will of the Many, The Way of Kings and combines them into an amazing piece of literature that surpasses 95% of the books I read.

Anyway that's just my little ramble thank you if you made it to the end. If you guys do decide to read any of these series I'd love to hear your thoughts

Big day for webnovels everywhere 😭.

Last week, Amazon rebranded Kindle Unlimited to Kindle+. At the same time, they offered eligible authors and publishers the chance to tie their audiobooks to their ebooks and make them available as part of the service. Titles that didn’t meet those requirements still have the option to produce AI-generated audio instead, but we’re not talking about that today. No, we’re here to discuss all the human-created audiobooks you can listen to right now without having to buy a single credit through Audible.

Below is a list I have produced (many thanks to Aethon for providing me the raw data that comprises the bulk of these titles) showing all the audiobooks I could find that authors and publishers enrolled in the program. It is by no means exhaustive, and I am sure there are many, many more that I’m not aware of. I would be happy to add them if people tell me about them.

You’re going to find a lot of series are missing their later books, mostly because those titles don’t have an audiobook yet. Aethon also has some seemingly random holes in many of their titles, but I trust they’ll be adding those as they can. Rhett said, and I quote, “this is very helpful,” so fingers crossed I’ll be making some updates soon. In the meantime, there are plenty of series fully available to occupy your time (such as mine. Wink wink, nudge nudge).

Hello, everybody, AbyssRaven here to present the seventh installment of “A Dragon Idol’s Reincarnation Tale”. We had some dungeon fun in the last book, but this time we’re back to pushing the plot. Specifically, we will be bringing Hestia onto the global stage, or at least as global as it can get in a medieval fantasy world.

Let us wish our Dragon Princess a beautiful Debutante. And at the same time give them a taste of what the Dragon Idol can do with the publicity.

A Dragon Idol’s Reincarnation Tale Book 7: Debutante on Amazon

A Dragon Idol's Reincarnation Tale Book 7: Debutante on Audible

Aethon Books once again helped me with the publication and was the one responsible for the book’s cover. Like last time, the Audible version will come with the release of the story on Amazon. Ms. Erin Bateman is our narrator once again, so I do hope everybody will enjoy listening to the story.

Here’s the synopsis!

The time for the young Princess of Dragons to make her debut has come!

… Or, at least, to officially announce her status as an Idol of the Goddess of Light and Healing.

Having finally reached the capital of Artorias, Griffonpeak, Hestia was granted another audience with her patron goddess, only to learn that her enemies were a little closer than she had expected. The demonkin of Bole’Taria had infiltrated more than just the human countries; they had taken over her church.

A priestess whose own religion sought her death… just another perk of showbiz! With new allies and enemies approaching the limelight cast by her blessing, so will it cast a shadow large enough to devour the city. With the arrival of an entourage of the Imperial Inquisition of Folschreck, magic and dragon claws will not ensure her safety. Speech and the dramatic theatrics of the nobility shall!

From improving her levels in the dungeon of Cedaraille, to now becoming a noble worthy of her title as a Princess of the Dragon Empire of Kargryx, the Griffonpeak Arc will ensure Hestia and Aurora become more than a countryside tale. Her stardom will make countries remember her face!

Quick tier list on what I read. (first pic is Brandon Sanderson as I read and loved most of his book, Spider pic - A Nerubian's Journey, Swan pic - Sky pride and last text-less pic - Common Sense Is Overpowered)

I've recently read and reread few books, that I really enjoyed, but would say that character writing is above average and a book I dropped, because MC barely interacted with others.

I'm bit tired of introspection and expositions, I want character actually interacting and having character development. And hey, maybe for once, a story with charismatic MC, too many introverted and brooding MC in this genre.

Welcome any recommendations, thanks in advance!

Im reading Trinity of magic and it seems that the first 23 chapters were rewritten. Im just making sure that im not missing any characters or expecting any experiences to be referenced or brought back up when they either were added in the re write or were left out of the re write. In Chapter 24 it mentions an apartment? And he seems to have forgotten magic concepts. Has he still been able to cast light ball and telepathy in the post re write version?

Heya all. I'm happy to announce that Book 1 of Magic Breaker is out today on Amazon and Audible! You can grab it as an ebook, paperback, or audiobook. Free to read on Kindle+, too! ^^

This one is a fairly classic LitRPG. Plenty of numbers-Going-Up, fighting against established systems. The MC focuses on taking apart the magic of others - both to counterspell it, but also to disassemble and learn from it. That way, they slowly grow their mastery over mana and invest all their stats in it hehehe.

They also adopt a lil shadow companion and some other aliens, since species inside the tower get a lil funky. You can see ant-friends on the cover, too!

With all that said, here's the blurb:

-

The only thing Snow loves more than Magic… is taking it apart.

When the world starts to end at the hands of the Tower and its Eyes - the gods looking down from its peak - all humanity is granted inherent skills. Snow's [Suppression] can weaken anyone and anything.

Combined with their endless curiosity, they pick up a class to break the magic of others. Weakening and taking apart skills, Snow steals power by shattering spells. Pilfering healing magic from the Tower itself, the jealous Eyes soon set about hunting them down.

But it doesn’t matter whether anyone is stronger, faster or even a better mage than Snow. So long as they have mana, anyone can be dragged to their level. And with a near-limitless mana pool, Snow will crush them all.

After saving their four closest friends, Snow is ready to climb - all the way up. Those arrogant eyes need to be torn from their gilded thrones by someone, after all.

And Snow is ready to break them, too.

Follow Snow’s crazy adventure as they fight their way up the tower and through their foes with their almost-equally mad friends in this LitRPG Tower-Apocalypse!

This is a home-grown, farm-to-zon, one-author book that I fuelled by sitting in my chair and tippy-tappin' away at my keyboard. Please give Snow and their mildly insane friend group a chance if it sounds up your alley. They're fun critters.

You can of course find it on Amazon and Audible! Please enjoy.

As said in the title, I just want some recommendations for finished series. Almost everything that I have found of which I want to read isn’t finished yet, and I personally really don’t like waiting after having read some of a series. More than fine with waiting for it to be done though.

I really love cradle (have read through 4 times now)
Mark of the fool (read through twice)
Dungeon crawler Carl (started it and realized it wasn’t finished but couldn’t stop lol)
Among other series like mage errrant or mother of learning.

Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

Book 1 of The Gift of Loot is out on Amazon on eBook, audio, and paperback formats.

Blurb:

He who has the most loot, wins.

System Integration has been announced on Earth and Thomas just wants to keep his skin intact, maybe carve out a life that's more interesting than the one he's had so far. Is it too much to hope for both?

When he steps inside a dungeon for the first time, he receives a magical Gift that reflects the shape of his soul: Now every monster kill drops mana crystals, weapons, and powerful gear.

While others struggle to survive in a new world, Thomas begins to build something far more dangerous: An advantage.

(Basically it's a modern day LitRPG Apoc with a normal guy who gets a fun cheat Gift. While it's action/adventure oriented, it doesn't slip into grim-dark. Look at the colorful cover. We're here for a good, loot-filled time.)

Any good stories where the mc and his class is summoned to another world? However it can’t be the annoying cliche of mc having a trash power that’s secretly op. Would be good if they’re all on good terms with each other and they actually work together.

Bonus points if mc gets stronger faster compared to the rest of them and is properly acknowledged.

What do people think about stories where Mc has a huge lifespan or picks a skill that gives him said huge lifespan but the story never actually uses it ?

It happens quite often that I’m thinking that there must be some huge demerit or something that makes using such lifespan that’s hard to write ? Because otherwise I don’t really get why not.

Edit: When I say the story never uses it I mean the story takes place over a couple of years whilst the MC lifespan is in the thousands.

Need these type of Protagonist to add in my list, i prefer not "system-based" or status (already have plenty of it on my list), but it is okay to tell me too.

Cole and Natalie have emerged from the Alukah’s tomb victorious but utterly transformed.

Marked by new powers and hunted by old enemies, the death-sworn knight and the cursed woman at his side have fled the vampire-ruled Blood Duchies in search of answers.

Their only hope lies in Vindabon, a great city-state beyond the borderlands. But sanctuary may prove just as dangerous as exile.

A string of ritual murders has left Vindabon on edge, and a gathering of werebeasts threatens to turn suspicion into bloodshed.

Worst of all, Countess Isabelle Gens Silva, the creator of the Homunculus Knight, has begun to make her move.

Book 2 in this dark fantasy series about a death-sworn knight and his cursed companion's battle against undead monsters.

What to expect: High Fantasy with strong horror elements but never hopeless or pointlessly grim. Both MCs develop unique power sets methodically through earned progression without a System or similar's support. Methodical and internally consistent world-building that takes a lot from real-world mythology and traditional fantasy.

What not to expect: Any LitRPG or Isekai elements.

Published by Moonquill and for sale here.

Book 1 has fewer progression elements and is more a monster-hunting mystery establishing characters and the world.

Hey all! The first book of my second series is available as of today! For those of you that ask: yes, it has harem elements.

"Ew harem!" you say. I say that my posts here, despite 0 upvotes, get more views than my fantasy penname posts with hundred upvotes. Some of yall are liars.

Anyway! I hope you all enjoy this book! It's been a blast to write! I tried to make the story fun and keep the whimsy of BoC, which made me rekindle my love for reading -- I say inspired, but it differs by a lot. I wanted to capture that warm feeling combined with sick action, and so here we are!

Blurb:

I served that damn fatso king for twelve years. No more.

Whisked into a new world, I went through the whole isekai ordeal. Levels, equipment, dungeons, guilds. All that crap, for 12 years.

I was done. So when given the chance to run away to a whole new continent, I took it immediately. Which was easier said than done with the 100 floor dungeon right in my backyard, and bandits on the hunt. I would not give up on my lazy, laidback life though!

Sadly, my calm life couldn't last forever, as soon I'm housing Leanor--a pretty, mature elf with a tragic past, alongside Luna - a wolf-girl who wants to get stronger in my dungeon. The nearby village is going through trouble as it's unclear who the next Mayor will be, and the dungeon keeps getting weirder and weirder. Also, I found a strange egg at its entrance.

Perhaps my calm life would have to wait for a few moments longer.

I have also read ss lotm rtoc primal hunter orv I dont know what else to read at this point some of these I have dropped.

Hey looking for anything that is decent in length will take any recs !

We dont have our own sub reddit so I have to post here. Does anyone know when book 8 is coming out for 12 miles bellow on audible? Its been out on Royal Road since before the last audiobook was finished but I dont know how to read so Ive just been waiting the last 5 months with no news.

Which LitRPG subgenres are growing in popularity and which subgenres are becoming less popular? What are readers demanding more of? I’m about to start working on my first series and I am trying to pick between two ideas: one of them is Monster Progression and the other is Kingdom Builder. The Monster Progression one is more epic fantasy with some sci-fi opera elements and would have broader appeal. The Kingdom Builder one is much more niche but it’s a very fun concept.

Other subgenres I didn’t mention are:

- Deckbuilder
- Cultivation
- Crafting
- Reincarnated as an object
- VRMMO

Hello! I'm looking for any recommendations people have for progression fantasies where the progression is mainly in knowledge and soft powers (connections, social status, wealth, etc.)

A couple of examples of stories I've read and really enjoyed for these elements:

Ascendance of a Bookworm

This one is the most perfect example of what I want more of!

While there is some number-go-up power progression in this story, it mostly comes later and IMO is less cool and interesting than the social & economic progression. The main character starts as a poor, sickly peasant child with nothing but her past life knowledge from a life full of reading everything she can get her hands on, and over the story she ascends through the social strata of society and constantly expands her reach and influence.

High level spoilers of the overall progression: Going from a peasant girl asking local kids to gather materials and producing homemade crafts to sell (soaps, accessories, sweets recipes) to partnering with a merchant to license and mass produce her crafts and paper products for a share of the proceeds, to working directly with the duke to produce printing presses and mass produced books, and so on

Mother of Learning

A timeloop story where the main character begins and remains fairly underpowered as far as raw, numbers-go-up strength is concerned. His main avenues of progression in the story are things like:

• Money making opportunities like learning locations of supply caches, rich ore veins, etc. that allow him to quickly get money and resources early in the loop that open up new options
• Learning new spells and skills
  • Tracking down experts to learn from (professors at school, paid tutors, psychic spiders), taking on jobs (like thievery!) that he would never have considered outside a time loop.
• Learning the arguments that will persuade key people to join his cause
• Knowledge sharing: Passing knowledge down through the loops so key allies can progress research projects even though they aren't part of the time loop itself

## Honorable mentions

• Years of Apocalypse - Very similar start to Mother of Learning, lots of great stuff here! I lost some interest in it as it went on, as it ended up leaning very hard into raw, numbers-go-up power progression.
• The Dagger and the Coin (series) - Excellent fantasy series with a focus on politics and economics, though not really a progression fantasy. Has a bumbling idiot minor noble who fails upward to become a bumbling idiot tyrant ruler of a nation (mostly by others using him as a pawn), and an orphan brat raised by a banker who through sharply honed knowledge of banking, clever schemes, and raw moxy quickly rises in the ranks of a major bank.
• I remember a fresh manga series from a few years back where the main character could appraise other people's talents and loyalties. Can't remember the name, and it had maybe 10 chapters when I read it back then so I have no idea if it's any good, but I think the idea of a progression fantasy where the progression is finding a bunch of loyal people and guiding them into the roles that best fit their natural (perhaps unknown!) talents is a pretty great one. I'd love recommendations like that too : )

I read my eBooks on a Kindle. On kindle, table stat blocks are technically readable, but every time you tap near-ish a table it magnifies the page. The table font is a different size than the rest of the book so you can't increase or decrease it. If there's anything witty in the power description, it's significantly harder to read because of all the table formatting nonsense.

There are multiple books(like Terminate the other world, or a Budding scientist in a fantasy world) where the words on the page are made harder to read by the tables. 5 star books that are downgraded by the formatting the author chooses.

Has anyone ever found a book on kindle where the stat blocks are improved by being in an Excel table over just a paragraph that was typed out and formatted properly?

Or baring that, is there some setting on kindle to make tables less annoying in general?

This is 50% an honest question, 50% just me begging authors to stop using tables for stat blocks they actively make it harder to read the book. I would like to read the book and enjoy the words on the screen, not be annoyed and trying to get thru the table so I can enjoy the power changes
