So my neighborhood pig will come up to the fence and when it senses my hand is nearby it will take a quick lunge forward. It startles me but I don't know if its actually in attack mode or just wants food. I know it wants food but I can't tell if it might bite. I've petted him when he's sleeping and have no problem . He just seems less gentle when he wants food.

This is oreo, I had purchased some goats and when they arrived with the goats she was on the trailer, they gave her to me because they just didn't want her, they had gotten her to breed and then after one litter they realized it was too much so they got rid of her, she is not quite a year old yet she'll be a year old in March.
They said she is a Cooney Cooney though I don't know anything about miniature pig breeds, I do have two pigs already both are bores so obviously cannot be with her because I do not want unwanted baby pigs even though they are adorable.. I'm just not going to do that absolutely not, honestly I'll probably have her fixed.
But on to the main point of the post, she is very fat and I've never had this issue with mine, in fact one of them I have the exact opposite issue I'm trying to get him to gain weight while the other is perfect for his size, was wondering if any of you have some tips on how to help her lose weight besides just lowering her calorie intake and stuff. She's also fairly skittish and doesn't really want to be around people, she's not aggressive just kind of scared of everything and basically requires her emotional support chicken when I go in there to clean her pin (she literally freaks out if someone goes in there unless this specific chicken I have goes in there then she calms down and just stays close to the chicken)
Also don't freak out about her food being on the ground, I had my fiance take these pictures and he's a little scared of pigs and wouldn't go into her pen to get the bowl, I'm just thankful he was willing to do this much since he truly is scared of them (he was attacked by a large hog when he was younger and is terrified of them now)
(Also I'm aware I spelled the breed name wrong, I cannot remember how to spell it and that's the best voice to text would do for me)

Just a lazy Sunday afternoon. My pot belly family and my kune kune sisters are getting along 🥳 No major brawls or blood or anything. 🙌

What do yall feed your pigs for forage over the winter? I have two Kune Kunes and they show zero interest in hay. It is nice and soft, second cutting orchard grass.

I recently rescued a 12-14 week old potbelly mix. She was never handled and lived with ~10 other pigs. I wanted to take a pair but there weren’t any others available. Now she’s here and learning she’s safe.
However, I’m really worried about her being a single pig after being in a herd her entire life. I have a friend with a litter that’s willing to give me another potbelly, but they won’t be weaned until December. The female I rescued today would be without another pig for about 60 days. Is it okay to wait? Or should I be moving faster to find her a friend? I’m worried about her being lonely in between now and when we can bring the other home.
I’ve had a pair of pigs before. I adopted them as a pair and they lived together until they died at almost 15 years old, so only having one is new to me.

she’s old but she is doing well! I love having her and hanging out with her! we have a special bond. having a pet pig is not easy and it requires a lot of adjusting your lifestyle and responsibility

Beautiful day at the sanctuary. I start a new job Monday so I will only be able to go on weekends after that ☹️
It's funny, I would have thought the potbelly pigs would be easier to get to know and want to hang out with me more than the big farm pigs.
But the big farm pigs are really more like dogs, enjoying affection from me. Their very unique personalities are delightful and fascinating. After I feed them their dinner I come back a bit later to hang out with them and they are excited to see me and making lots of cute noises. I wish more people could see how these pigs really are.
The last couple are of Lotus Blossom, the youngest potbelly. She is a sweet little stinker! Her eyes are so open and taking everything in.
