I was “late” getting home today and the porch was full of pigeons all grumpy that lunch had been delayed. (I find this absolutely adorable.) I gave them extra seed because they fell upon it like they were starving. They used to all book it the second I opened the porch door. Then I was allowed to stand very very still at the other end of the porch. Now I can just stay right there!!! Very exciting LOL

I thought this group might appreciate a slightly different kind of pigeon post!
I'm an independent UK illustrator, and I've designed a squishy plush pigeon crossbody bag called Pebble, along with a matching little pigeon purse. And thanks to my Kickstarter reaching its funding goal, they're actually going to become real!! 🥹💕
The bag is a soft, squishy pigeon you can carry around with you, and the little purse has a heart-shaped zip pull and purple lining. You can preorder either one or get both together, and I've also got some pigeon-themed add-ons like socks, stickers and pens!
I'm hoping to reach the £4,000 stretch goal next, which would mean free collectible pigeon photocards for every backer! There are 7 designs to collect. 🐦✨
I can ship internationally, so everyone can get one!
They're available to preorder now, with delivery planned for next year. I'm just really excited that my little pigeon idea is actually happening, and wanted to share it with some fellow pigeon appreciators! 💗
If you'd like to have a look and get yourself a bag or purse (or both!), here's the Kickstarter to order:

My wife is a Vet Tech and has been for 20 years. She has very little experience with exotics or farm animals. Her and her coworkers have befriended a family of feral pigeons. This has caused problems with the landlords. They are planning on eradicating them. So I have decided to build a loft, trap them and rehome them at our house. I live on a large farm with a lot of crows that keep hawks to a minimum. The question we have not been able to answer with our research is what kind of medications we can use for internal and external parasites? There is a lot of conflicting information out there and my wife being in the animal care business does not want to make mistakes. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Injured Pigeon Alert: Boston, Copley Square
Spotted a pigeon with a severe case of stringfoot in Copley Square.
Injury: One foot is tightly bound by string/hair. The foot is lighter in color (swollen/restricted circulation) and frozen into a clawed shape. The bird is limping severely and tenderly putting the foot down.
Location: Copley Square, Boston.
Status: Currently lost track of the bird, but it is active with the local flock in the square.

Hi, can anyone help? I've just rescued this young pigeon - she seems to be mainly uninjured apart from a small head wound from where I think she was attacked by other birds. I've got her safe and warm in my shed for now but worried about releasing her back outside in case she's attacked again, or taking her to vets in case she's euthanised unnecessarily. I've tried calling various local rehabbers and no response, nor from SSPCA. I want to do whatever to keep her safe and healing until I can find better help 💚

Rural NSW, Australia. Suburban.
Every now and then a bunch of crows come by and rip apart one of the crested pigeons. Not quickly of course.
The pigeons have a bit of cover in some pretty thick greenery but that doesn't stop the crows following them through it.
I don't want to do anything that'll scare away the pigeons or the others, like blackbirds, superb fairywrens, noisy miners, house sparrows, magpies, magpie-larks, honeyeaters, cockatoos, galahs, etc.
I imagine it'd be hard to construct things that differentiate by size with crows and created pigeons being similar in size. But, I was wondering if there were very precise measurements that could reliably separate the two. And some means to encourage their use as a shelter.
I assume there's no attracting big friendly birds like cockatoos and galahs to relatively enclosed residential gardens, especially with favoured large, tall trees not far off and a large open park nearby. And I assume those two would deter the smaller guys I want to protect.
I expect putting up a fake dead crow would horrify and repel other birds just as much.
I'd rather not be cruel to the crows, despite how much I'm growing to despise them.
