Reddit DM & email 32F UK - looking for a stranger who might eventually not feel like one.

32F from Newcastle, UK. I’ve spent most of the past year travelling around Asia, which has been incredible, but since coming home I’ve realised how much I miss meeting new people and having conversations with people who are curious about the world.

I’m not really looking for dozens of people to message. I’d much rather find one or two people I genuinely click with and slowly get to know over time.
I like the kind of friendship where you can talk about the completely ordinary things happening in your life, but also message someone out of nowhere with, “I’ve been thinking about something weird all day and I need to tell somebody.”

I love conversations that wander. Travel, relationships, memories, things we miss, places we want to see, fears, stupid observations, childhood stories, people who changed us, things we’re still figuring out, and all the random little thoughts that don’t normally have anywhere to go.

Having spent so much time travelling recently, I’ve become even more interested in how differently people live and see the world. I really enjoy hearing about someone else’s life, especially when it looks nothing like mine. We definitely don’t need to have identical hobbies or opinions. Curiosity, humour and openness matter much more to me.

I also don’t expect every conversation to turn into some deep philosophical discussion. I’m equally happy hearing about the ridiculous thing that happened to you in Tesco or getting a photo of something you saw on your walk. I think those little everyday details are often how you actually get to know someone.

I’d prefer to start with Reddit messages or email and see whether we naturally get along. Eventually, if we become comfortable with each other, I’d love to exchange actual handwritten letters too. I’m slightly sentimental about things like that, and there’s something lovely about receiving something that has physically travelled from somebody else’s little corner of the world into yours.

Age and location aren’t hugely important to me, although it would be nice to hear from people somewhere around my stage of life. UK or halfway across the world is fine.

Mostly, I’m just missing talking to like-minded people and that feeling of slowly discovering who somebody really is beyond the usual introductions and small talk.
So, if any of this sounds like your kind of friendship, send me a message and tell me something about yourself that you rarely get the opportunity to talk about.

Reddit DM 32/M, looking for friendship

Hey everyone! As the title says, I'm a 32 year-old male from TX, US. About me, I don't know what to say but let me try. At least I can say a few things. I consider myself as an introvert. I enjoy spending my time on my own. I like gaming, listening to music, and reading. Yeah, sometimes I can be a couch potato as well. Other than this, I like walking outdoors. I work in healthcare and also get my next title. But I'm interested in other things including history, geography etc. I also try to get better at GeoGuessr. Do you play it? I also like thrifting. Anyway, I guess that's all for now. Even if I'm an introvert, I started feeling alone recently. I'm looking for some people to be friends with. I know since I'm a male, I won't get many messages but here we are. Don't hesitate to dm me if you'd like to chat. I'm open to anyone. I don't mind where you're from, what gender you're, or how old you're. Thanks for reading.

Reddit DM 28M - looking to meet new people

Hello! I’m 28 and from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and I’m looking to meet new people and hopefully make some new friends!

A few things about me…I’m a HUGE horror fan, and I love all things dark/creepy/paranormal or unexplained

I’m pretty heavily tattooed (I’ve just had a new one done at the weekend, getting another this week and then have more booked over the next couple weeks/months) and I’m always looking for ideas and inspirations for what to get next, I love to see other people’s work and ideas too!

I love music and going to shows(mostly older rock/metal but I like a lot different stuff, most recently saw Metallica and Def Leppard live)

I love gaming, true crime, football, I love to visit historical sites/museums and enjoy travelling, urban exploring/exploring the outdoors and keeping fit, and I spend 99% of my free time with my dog 🐶

Happy to talk to anyone from anywhere, just send a message with a bit about yourself if you think we might get along 🙂

Reddit DM Let’s give this a shot (again)

30M from usa here, figured I’d give this another shot and see who’s out there. Haven’t had much luck on here really. They stay for a day or two then vanish.

I’ve got my life pretty together (steady job, gym 5x a week, can cook a decent meal when I feel like it), but realized making new friends as an adult is way harder than it should be. So here I am.

I’m big into gaming , anything from competitive stuff to just zoning out after a long day. (Been on a DBD and Fortnite kick lately) Outside of that, I’m usually at the gym, out hiking when the weather’s decent, or planning my next trip (even if it’s just a long weekend somewhere random). But my gaming library goes deep. Also been playing BG3, halo CE remake, and I need to try out once human. And can not wait for fable and GTA6

Big fan of the outdoors and sports and also a shoe collector. Travel quite a bit as well so maybe we have something in common

Huge horror movie fan so if it’s creepy, twisted, or makes you question your life choices, I’m probably into it. Also a fan of dark humor, so bonus points if you can laugh at things we probably shouldn’t.
Pretty laid back, easy to talk to, and I learn more by doing than just talking about it. Just looking for good people to chat with, maybe game with, or even meet up if you’re local.

And also I have a trust issue thing when it comes to this dang app. To many catfishes or fakes so bear with me !

If any of that sounds like your vibe, feel free to reach out . Maybe tell me your top 5 horror movies or video games. Or even some things we have in common

Male or female welcome!

email 35/M/Chile looking for new friends :)

Hi!
My name is Jordan. I'm 35 years old and I live in Casablanca, Chile 🇨🇱. It's a small town near the Pacific ocean, with a lot of vineyards and nature.

I enjoy traveling, cooking, going hiking, wine and beer from time to time, relaxing at the beach, and listening to music (I really love alternative music!). I also love postcards and letters—they make me feel connected to people in a special way.

I’m looking for a penpal to write emails! Maybe in the future we can also exchange letters and postcards. I think it’s nice to share our daily life, thoughts, and culture without pressure. Just a calm and friendly exchange.

📬 A few more things about me:

  • I’m vegan and like trying new recipes
  • I speak Spanish and English
  • I like learning about other countries and meeting new people
  • I’ve made two friends online (from the USA and Poland) and have traveled with them—it was a great experience!
  • I usually write in the evenings or on weekends

🌍 Who I'm looking for:

  • Someone kind who enjoys friendly and thoughtful conversation
  • From Europe, the US, or anywhere really
  • You don’t need to write every day—just sometimes is fine
  • If you like postcards too, even better!

If this sounds good to you, feel free to send me a message. I’d love to hear from you!

Take care,

Jordan

snail mail 36/F/Virginia - looking for a few more snail mail pen pals 💌

I made a post here previously looking for pen pals and have started writing letters with a couple of people since then. I’ve really enjoyed it so far, so I figured I’d make another post and see if I could find a few more people to write to.

I originally started writing letters as part of therapy for OCD and realized how much I actually enjoy it. I like sitting down to write, color, or just do something that doesn’t involve looking at a screen. Plus, it’s nice having something to look forward to in the mailbox besides bills and junk mail.

I’m 36, married, a mom of 2, and I work full time. I also went back to college to finish my degree, so I’ve got a lot going on. I have 3 dogs and 4 cats, so my house is pretty much a zoo. I love all kinds of music, but post-hardcore and emo have my heart. Silverstein is my favorite band. I’m also a really nostalgic person, especially when it comes to the ’90s and early 2000s. Fall is my favorite time of year. It’s honestly the only time of year I feel like I can actually breathe. I love chilly mornings, changing leaves, and sitting alone with a cup of coffee before everyone else wakes up. I like going on walks and hikes, but nothing too crazy. I’m mostly just trying to get some exercise and enjoy being outside.

I live in a very rural area and have felt out of place here pretty much my whole life. I’ve thought about moving somewhere else plenty of times, but change scares me, and my OCD has a way of convincing me that everything will go wrong if I do. Maybe one day I’ll finally do it.
I’m not religious, but I love learning about paranormal and supernatural stuff. Ghost stories, weird experiences, things that can’t really be explained, all of it. I’m also trying to lose weight and get healthier, so I’m always open to easy, healthy recipes. Nothing too complicated though, because I don’t have the patience for all that lol.

I’m really just looking for people to write letters with and hopefully make some friends along the way. We can talk about life, how our week is going, music, random thoughts, or whatever comes to mind. I don’t expect every letter to be exciting, and there’s no pressure to write back right away. I know life gets busy, and sometimes there’s just not much to talk about. That’s fine with me! I think it’d be nice to get to know people from different places and have a few more letters to look forward to.

If you think we’d get along, feel free to send me a message!

Reddit DM & email 40 M Looking for international friends

From europe and would love some international friends. I love beaches and wine, summer vibes and good food! Bit of a homebody in winter where I mostly watch tv and movies, podcasts and reading. I do like spending time in nature as well. Beaches are my happy place. I do like thrillers, horrors, true crime, paranormal while when it comes to reading i'm mostly into non-fiction and romance.

Would love to share random pics from our days, mostly mine would be of nature and food, while looking forward to hear about your interests and anything you're up to.

email & snail mail [35/M] How do you all navigate sending / receiving letters?

Hi! I've been wanting a pen pal or two that I can write letters to. I'd love to share random doodles, short stories I've written, stickers, etc. And include thoughtful replies about everything big and small. It seems like a lot of fun.

My biggest hangup is sharing my address to a stranger - I'd be comfortable doing it after getting to know them but it seems like a lot of folks here don't mention the online chat part before diving in and I don't want to leave them hanging so to speak. Do you all have a PO box or something that you use? That seems like a lot for a penpal or two haha.

Anyways, I guess you could say I'm also looking for a penpal or two to share letters with eventually. We can start with reddit DM / email or something first! I've got a ton of pokemon and random stickers I'd love to use lol, and have a few short stories I'd like to put to paper for someone to read.

If that sounds interesting to you and you don't mind getting to know each other first before sharing contact info, feel free to reach out! DMs open.

snail mail 36 [F] Looking to exchange letters, stickers, art, etc

Hello! My name is Jess and I'm an artist in upstate New York. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and my husband is my best friend. I am AuDHD (so I have too many hobbies) and LGBTQ+

Things I like: art, nature, books (all books but my current genre of interest is science fiction), journaling, fountain pens, antiques, gardening, photography, animals of all kinds, baking cookies from around the globe, hiking, house plants, volunteering, collecting handmade coffee mugs, tattoos, fragrances, fun hair color

Things I dislike: poor listeners, the manosphere, waiting in line, fireworks (they are too loud), doing errands alone, saying "you too" when a server hopes you have a nice meal, when the tag of my shirt is itchy

What I'm looking for:

Someone I can send little drawings and doodles to. Someone who wants to send and receive stickers or postcards or photos. Someone who wants to share the boring bits of their day, their theories about random topics, their favorite foods and books and the way they take their coffee. Someone who doesn't mind if a letter is long and is looking to make a long lasting friendship. We don't have to write all the time, once a month, or every couple weeks is fine.

I love writing and I love sending little things I made out into the world to make people happy. I have a couple of regular penpals right now and would like to expand my circle.

snail mail [30/F]

The fact that we call it “snail mail” hurts me just a tiny bit.
I am a married mother of three, animal lover, and seemingly living a hermit life. I’m not able to get out much due to helping my FIL with dementia (and other medical issues) and I’m new to my faith. Thrifting 11/10. I love the idea of someone setting aside time in their day just for me. I want to find purpose again and get excited to send off a little bit of my personality with each letter, continuing to grow in camaraderie. I love the outdoors and starting my self- care journey and I feel having others to connect with would be incredible. I would love for my ten year old son to have a penpal as well. You can call him Puffin. That’s what my late dad called him. I love laughing too. Also getting into reading books!
Ya gorl,
Sylvan Saoryx

snail mail [38/F] | Low-pressure snail mail | Random letters, ramblings & oddities welcome

Right, so— I’ll start with: I’m 38/F married catmom. I'm looking for some casual, low-pressure snail mail. It can be a one-off letter or something that continues whenever we happen to feel like writing. No schedules, no expectations.

Even if I’m not very good at writing about myself, I don’t mind reading whatever you want to write about. You can write whole pages about yourself, or if you want to vent about your boss, you can do that, too. Or you can simply send me a card with a quote that inspired you that day. Or a recipe you just feel like sharing with a stranger. Or a random scene from a story you’re writing (though you might have to add a little bit of context). Or a skincare routine you swear by.

Or if you’re not good with words, or don’t feel like it, you can just send me a drawing, or a card filled with cute stickers because you want to brag about your sticker/stationery collection, or just a colour of blue with a statement that that’s your favourite blue. I’m quite fine with random things because I’m very interested in the way people think. If you’re a nerd and you feel like educating me about one of your interests, feel free do so.

If you’re not very good at English, that’s fine, too. We can send letters back and forth, trying to figure out what we're each trying to say, and have fun with it. I’ve been an English tutor before, so I understand the struggle.

Just nothing sexual or occult or holiday-related stuff please. I don’t mind hearing about your beliefs, philosophy, or opinions. I’m interested in how people think, after all. I’m just not interested in political and AI debates. I think the world bombards us with enough of those things. Also, my cat is cuter than yours and corn improves lasagna every time, so those debates are closed. We can debate on whether your OC is ruthless or simply strategic. Or whether Loki will be Luffy’s next crew member. But generally, I’m not very into debates.

And no, I’m not high while writing this. I‘m simply interested in whatever strangers choose to tell or share with me, whether it’s a song recommendation, the town they grew up in, what happened to them last Tuesday, a dad joke they can’t stop retelling, or a sticker they happen to have in their collection (I might reuse it though). That reminds me— no pamphlets or threats please. However, if you threaten to send me fine stationery, I will make an exception 😌

You can send me something handwritten or typed out (to those with typewriters: YASS, VERY WELCOME).

I myself am a person with a wide range of interests. I’m not an expert in anything, and am interested in what people want to share with me about what keeps them busy. My interests range from anime to music to k-drama to piano techniques to oil pastel to urban sketching to tea to animation making to psychology to world building to gaming. I’ve collected too many hobbies over the years. There are also things that I’m not really interested in, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I wouldn’t be interested in whatever you have to say about it.

I do not demand a regular correspondence. And if you feel like you want to stop without having to explain why, I’m the right person for it. You can write to me once, or send me something again in a month or six months or so— I’m not very demanding on that aspect. I might wonder after two years whether you’ve died or simply have stopped replying. Either way, I will not take either personally.

I don't open up easily, but you’re welcome to ask me questions, too. I'll likely send something random in return. Perhaps not always a letter. I’m an artist and a writer, so likely something I’ve drawn or painted, or maybe a poem, or a scene from one of my stories.

So, here you go. If you feel like this suits you, let me know. If a friendship develops, wonderful. If not, that's fine too. We can simply enjoy exchanging whatever we feel like sharing, or stop whenever we feel like it.

Either way, I'll be glad to have known a little piece of you.

email & snail mail [36/M] Long form conversations. Love it!

Greetings. I’m Dietrich- Dee is fine, if you please.

I am open to the idea of exchanging letters and emails with a few people.

I will tell you about myself now, and if you respond in kind that should give plenty of fodder to keep us going for a while!

To begin I am 36 year old man-child. I am from Detroit, Michigan originally. Moved to Toledo, Ohio for part of my adult life.

I sometimes stay in Chicago, but most of my time is spent in my truck that I drive all over the country, because as of a year ago I became a trucker.

In terms of style I suppose I am a punk+whatever else that day. Tattoos and body mods are a constant in my life.

I’m a hardline nihilist, athiest, and materialist, though I am not anti-theistic.

I do not drink, with the exception of a good beer on special occasions. I do not use drugs of any kind. To be transparent I use to be a drug addict of the most hopeless variety. It is not a topic I shy away from so please feel free to discuss it freely.

World travel is perennial passion of mine. I am particularly drawn to the north and east. I have been to many Eastern European countries and some Central. Next up for me I believe is either going to be the Nordic countries, or the Middle East. Very different places! Both equally beautiful and culturally fascinating.

Hobbies:
Writing solo RPGs
LARPing on the weekends
Reading
Spreading “the signal” to the farthest reaches of the galaxy with Radio Sidewinder Crew (Taco Flight) on Elite.

Topics I love:

Music- All kinds! new wave, post-black metal, doom sludge, hip-hop, ambient drone, classic rock, appalachian folk, pop, noise rock etc ad infinitum

Philosophy and Religion- particularly the Abrahamic religions, moralism and ethics, post-modernism, etc.

Sci-fi and historic literature are my favorite, but literature in general is always a good topic for discussion.
Also I’m a hardcore Tolkien stan.

My guilty pleasure is tobacco. Specifically cigars. There are few things I find more relaxing than sitting in a shady, breezeless place with a fantastic cigar on my lip.

A quick note on the style of exchange I am looking for:

Though I don’t expect actual handwritten or typed letters, I am open to the idea. However I don’t want to just chat either. Much like this post, I would expect that responses between us would be long form and unrushed. If that means going a week or even two or more between responses, that is perfectly fine. And if at any point you don’t want to continue the conversation- simply do not respond and there are no hard feelings from me. No obligation.

Men, women, and non-binary folk welcome.

Reddit DM [39/M] UK Happy Saturday! Let’s chat the day or week away!

Hello and a very good morning / afternoon / evening to you!

What a week it’s been and very much happy it’s Saturday! It’s a shame they just go far too quick! Especially now the darker colder months have arrived and I just want to hibernate, bring back the sun and daylight all is forgiven!

About me I guess is a good way to start? Can be socially awkward in real life and overthink all them “you too” moments when being told to enjoy my meal. I enjoy photography although I seem to have lost my spark for that at the moment but am working on getting that back! I like  travelling and exploring new places and if I win the lottery I shall be doing that full time. I do love going on long walks also and trying to not get lost! Although getting lost is part of the adventure. Watching ice hockey is also a hobby or mine and of course trying to think of some others my mind has gone blank…

About you I hear you ask? Well no criteria as long as you’re not a bot, can help carry the conversation and just don’t say hey it will all be good!

Well that’s my post and thanks for stopping by, since you made it this far you might as well reach out!

I really miss writing to someone and the trepidation of waiting for a response. I dont want to do email as that to me is impersonal.

A little about me. Im from the northwest of England, and I have one adult child and one teenager.

I love a good cup of tea, im a huge buffy and supernatural fan. I like to read, draw, and crochet (anything creative) as well as being a human mum. I am also a dog and lant mum. Im very mancunian.

Reddit DM [36/M] US - Looking for thoughtful conversation with a curious person

I suppose I’m just looking for a kindred spirit, someone that is genuinely looking for a lasting platonic friendship (not just a one time conversation), someone that will join me in putting effort into bringing up fun and varied topics for a thoughtful conversation. What are you most nostalgic about in your own life and what are small ways you feel the world has changed that have mostly escaped notice? What makes you feel alone or at odds amidst the crowd of Reddit, what makes it difficult for you to find friends? What interesting things have you read lately that you would like to discuss? I’m just looking for real, true conversation, not flirting, not vibing, not chilling, not talk about our day.

At present I’m engaged in a sort of research project on mid 19th century culture, so I would be thrilled to meet anyone that enjoys doing recreational historical research for creative writing or would like to join me in reading! I would certainly be open to suggestions, but my goal is to become better culturally educated. I think it would be fun to have a partner for a sort of book club of two, to keep ourselves motivated through duller works and possessed of a partner for discussion.

Of course our discussions wouldn’t have to be entirely serious or edifying, I would be grateful for a friend in addition to study partner. I love antiques, history, 90s nostalgia, horror movies, true crime and silly dating shows. Do let me know if this sounds like it might be up your alley!

Reddit DM & email 43 Male Canada, looking for a thoughtful penpal for good conversation and a peek into life elsewhere

Hi there!

I’m a 43 year old guy based in Ontario, Canada, looking for an online penpal. Strictly platonic – I’m happily married with two kids, and I’d just love some good conversation with someone.

A bit about me:

  • I work in tech, have been a startup founder and I’ve got a few side ventures going (real estate and home building), so my brain is usually juggling a lot.
  • I travel a lot for work, so always up about sharing about those experiences.
  • I’m a golfer who’s a little obsessed. Don't get to go out much anymore but always happy to swap stories about the good rounds and the very bad ones
  • I game on PS5 when I get the chance, mostly story-driven stuff. Last game I played recently was It Takes Two with my son.
  • I love to read, and I’m always up for sharing thoughts on whatever I’m currently reading – and I’d love to hear about what’s on your nightstand too
  • Family life keeps me busy, so I’m always on the lookout for good travel ideas, weekend activities, and things to do with kids

What I’m looking for:
Someone who enjoys longer, thoughtful messages rather than quick back-and-forth chat. Doesn’t matter where you live – in fact, I’d love to hear what daily life looks like in another part of the world. Talk about work, family, hobbies, books, travel, the ups and downs of midlife... whatever comes up.

I can’t promise lightning-fast replies, but I’ll always write back properly.

If this sounds good, send me a message with a bit about yourself and what you’d like to talk about.

Thanks for reading!

snail mail 39F seeking women who write long letters

💌 SEEKING WOMEN WHO ARE WILLING TO ENABLE MY STATIONERY-RELATED NONSENSE

I am a long-letter writer. Not a “Hey girl, how’s the weather?” and then disappear into the Bermuda Triangle of human communication kind of writer. I mean LETTERS. The kind that require snacks, a beverage, and possibly a small lunch break halfway through reading. I’m looking for women who genuinely enjoy writing and receiving long letters and want to build an actual connection. I do not expect weekly mail consisting of 15 pages, three blood samples, and a sworn affidavit of your whereabouts. We have lives. The post office is not a hostage-negotiation service. 😂

📍 I live in Michigan, USA, but I moved here from Argentina when I was five. I can write in Spanish, too! However, it’s Argentine Spanish, specifically from Salta, so you may occasionally need a dictionary, a linguistics degree, and the intervention of the United Nations. If you speak Spanish from another country, please know that I will happily compare dialects with you. I am fascinated by how the same language can mean 47 different things depending on where you stand and whether someone’s grandmother is involved.

🎨 My hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, coloring, painting, calligraphy, researching my genealogy, learning Black history, comparing Spanish dialects, and generally hanging out. Basically, I collect hobbies the way a dragon collects gold, except my hoard consists of fountain pens, paper, historical rabbit holes, and an unreasonable number of unfinished creative projects. I make my own stationery, too, because apparently buying paper like a normal person was never going to be enough for me. I write with fountain pens, so prepare yourself for handwritten letters with personality, questionable amounts of ink, and the occasional pen-related personality crisis.

🌈 I am non-judgmental. LGBTQIA+? Welcome. 420-friendly? Fine by me. Use something harder? I’m not your parole officer. Religious, atheist, agnostic, spiritual, or still trying to figure out what you believe? Pull up a chair. I’m not here to conduct an unsolicited audit of your existence. I welcome women from anywhere in the world that accepts mail from the USA. Your nationality, religion, identity, and life experiences are not automatic disqualifiers. Kindness, mutual respect, and a willingness to communicate are the entry requirements. So, if you enjoy long letters, getting to know people beyond their social media highlights, and receiving actual mail that isn’t a bill demanding your firstborn child as payment, we might get along beautifully.

📬 Apply within. Bring your personality. Bring your weird little interests. Bring your stories. I shall provide the paper, the fountain pen ink, and an entirely unnecessary amount of enthusiasm for the postal service. 💌

Reddit DM 32M looking for friends

Hey, I’m looking for someone to have regular, genuine conversations, ideally on a fairly consistent basis. I’m from Italy, so if you’re curious about the language or just like the idea of having an Italian friend, that’s a bonus. I’m also happy to help with some Italian along the way, just casually and for fun.

I work in the medical field and have an active lifestyle and a curious mind. I spend a lot of my free time moving or being outdoors. I play basketball, run, swim, hike, go to the gym, and ski whenever I get the chance. On the other side of things, I also enjoy slowing down with a good novel and having thoughtful conversations about books, ideas, culture, and everyday life.

I like conversations that feel easy and natural. Sometimes light and random, sometimes a bit deeper. I’m happy talking about daily routines, travel, personal goals, random thoughts, or whatever comes up. What matters most to me is consistency and building a comfortable back-and-forth over time, not just a few messages that fade out.

English isn’t my first language, but I’m comfortable communicating and always open to improving along the way. Corrections are fine if they happen naturally, but the main point is simply having good conversations.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to reach out.
