Trick or treating

Hii im 16 in gr12 and i was wondering if im allowed to trick or treat?

I’ve went every year but last year some people were refusing to give me candy saying im too old. I’ve been invited to a few party’s but id rather go trick or treating. Do you think I can go or have any recommendations on neighbourhoods that wouldn’t be rude?

thankss

Are there any restaurants for the homesick maritimer in the Niagara region?

My sister's craving Greco-style pizza, garlic fingers, donairs and such. Also is there a decent sub and poutine shop to be found? Also, maritime-style Chinese food.

Was I actually required to stop here? Pedestrians on a median island gave me the finger and yelled “Fuck you.”

I've been driving for over 25 years, and something happened today on Niagara River Parkway that genuinely confused me.

I was driving along the main road when I noticed two pedestrians standing on the raised median island in the middle of the road. They had already crossed the opposite lane but had not entered my lane.

I checked the signs as I approached. The small STOP sign was facing the adjacent multi-use path, not my direction. I didn't see a STOP or YIELD sign facing my lane.

Since the pedestrians were still standing on the island, I continued driving. Traffic on this road moves fairly quickly, so I also didn't think stopping unnecessarily would be a good idea.

As I passed, one of the pedestrians gave me the middle finger and yelled “Fuck you.”

I was genuinely surprised by that reaction.

My understanding is that a pedestrian refuge island allows people to cross the road in two stages, waiting for a safe gap in traffic before crossing the second half.

So here's my question for Ontario drivers:

Was I legally required to stop for pedestrians waiting on the median island, even though they hadn't entered my lane and there was no STOP sign facing me?

If I misunderstood the rules, I'm happy to be corrected. But if I didn't, why would someone react so aggressively toward a driver simply continuing along the main road?

I've attached dashcam footage so people can judge the situation for themselves.

I'd appreciate opinions based on Ontario traffic laws, not just personal preferences about who should be courteous to whom.

pick up hockey

Hey all

I'm gonna be in the area in December via NYC. Looking to drop in on some pick up hockey during the weekend. Figured I'd try here before doing my own googling. I'll have my car with me so suggestions that require a little commute are welcomed. Thank you !

Is Fallsview waterpark worth it if you don’t have kids?

Wanting to go to an indoor waterpark but it’s just me and my SO. GWL is geared more to kids. Is Falls view like this too? Anywhere else in Niagara for within an hour of GTA that would be better suited for us?

I built a free site that shows live ER wait times across Ontario

I made WaitWise (wait-wise.ca) because checking ER waits meant visiting a different hospital website each time. It pulls the live wait times that 36 Ontario hospitals and urgent care centres publish, and covers every other ER with anonymous visitor reports.

It also shows drive times, the usual busy and quiet hours, and a short guide to choosing between the ER, urgent care, a walk-in clinic, a pharmacist or Health811.

Free, no ads, no sign-up, and it never asks for health information. Available in 10 languages. Each hospital has its own page, e.g. wait-wise.ca/er/credit-valley-hospital-mississauga

If it's an emergency, call 911. Feedback welcome, especially if your hospital is missing something.

Any Niagara WoW players? We’ve got a growing local group

Hey Niagara!

I run an Ontario WoW community that started as a small local group about a month ago and has somehow grown to over 300 members.

We’ve got people from all over the province and a dedicated Hamilton/Niagara group, so I’m hoping to find some more WoW players from around Niagara.

There’s a good mix of people playing WoW Forever, Retail and Classic, from casual players and people returning to the game to raiders and PvPers.

The whole idea is pretty simple: make it easier for Ontario WoW players to find people who actually live somewhat nearby and build some local connections.

If you’re around Niagara and play WoW, come hang out:

Hope to see some more Niagara folks in there! 🍁

Am I the only one who seems to risk their life when driving in this area?

Never have I commuted through anything as insane as rural roads in Niagara. There's one area that used to be 80km/h area that is now 60km/h and every other day I have some jack-ass in a black pickup truck 5 feet from my bumper because I'm only going 70km/h. Im so sick and tired of being bullied driving to and from work because I only go 10km/h over the limit.

What the hell is going on in this area? Whether its in the falls, thorold, or st. Catharines. 50km/h zones, or the 80km/h zones between the cities. Its nearly always some toxic looking angry moron in a pickup truck, that weaponizes their size to try and get people to go way over the limit. Never have I driven anywhere with so many angry people in pickup trucks driving aggressively, and I don't ever see police giving out tickets. Surely I can't be the only one putting up with this crap?

Does anyone know why there were fireworks earlier tonight?

I didn’t see them, but heard them from around 9:30-9:44 and I know they aren’t scheduled, especially at such an odd time and day. The only thing I can think of, as there’s no holiday I’m aware or, is that they had to get rid of a surplus of them? What am I missing?

Petition for stronger animal cruelty laws in Ontario

On October 7th, a heartbreaking incident occurred in Niagara Falls that has shocked animal lovers and advocates across Ontario.

A 55-year-old man was arrested for the horrendous act of bestiality and torture inflicted upon his own cat, Faith. Faith suffered severe injuries, including broken limbs and internal organs, and tragically did not survive her ordeal.

Please, in honor of Faith, and for a future where all animals live free from harm, sign this petition. Demand justice for Faith and advocate for stronger animal cruelty legislation in Ontario.
