Great to see Savona back on the training pitch

• Upvotes

I'm glad to hear Savona is back in training because it feels like Forest could really do with some good injury news at the moment. I'd love to see him back on the pitch, but I don't want the club to rush him and risk another setback just to get him back a few days earlier. He can build up his fitness properly and give us another player to rely on when he's ready.

Great time at the WFCG today. Full training session for Junior Reds/Junior ST holders with a meet and greet after.

Also got to meet John McGovern as a bonus.

Forest's young wonderkid Azae Bonnick (number 12) in the England U15 team as match is abandoned due to allegations of racism on the pitch.

I didn't realise he was in the England youth set up as well. He's getting rave reviews at the moment.

Which means we'll sell him onto some Scottish team in 3 years after giving him a new contract and a spot on the bench.

Weird question

Hi all,

Been a lifelong Forest fan and used to go to as many away games in London (used to live in West London) was at the QPR game when we got relegated to League 1 etc and get to the CG at least 4-5 times a season in those dark days.

My nephew who is 10 and Austitic (he can tell you every bus you need or train in London to get about to the exact detail) has finally got the bug for Forest after his mum's side of the family tried their best to make him support Chelsea, Spurs after i kept sending vids to him of Forest😂.

I would get tickets on general sale, but since the Cooper season in the Championship its not possible, so my question is who at the club could i email to see if they could squeeze them in?

I live in Italy now so for me as much as i want to see a Forest game in the PL, its about getting 2 tickets for a home game for him and his dad, if i emailed the club you think they would be receptive to this?

I know if you dont ask you dont get.

Neco Williams deserves some credit for reaching 150 Premier League appearances

150 Premier League appearances is a pretty good milestone for Neco Williams, and it's nice to see him reach it in a Forest shirt. He's had to work hard to establish himself, and having that much top-flight experience is something amazing. He may not always get the attention that some of the bigger names do, but he's played his part.

Realist Writing Reasons to be cheerful

  1. We aren't manchester united

  2. We aren't contemplating Sean Dyche to come in

Sorry, I could actually only think of two reasons as the current situation is really quite depressing.

would you prefer to be in our position (third from top in the xG table but third from bottom in the real table with 6 points) or Newcastle’s (bottom of the xG table but 8th in the real table with 11 points)?

Was this period actually real or was it just a dream I had.

Looking back on it, what the fuck.
Chris wood turned into R9 and scored 20+ goals
Elanga was playing like prime messi
Our defence physically couldn’t be penetrated, and it is quite legitimately no different from what we have now
We actually knew how to score goals
We was challenging for the league at one point

It just seems strange, considering the team we had then isn’t really much different to what we have now, yet now we look like we couldn’t score in Thailand

So I noticed one thing on this forum, there is no way you can be both realistic and also a Forest fan. If you're not in the OG wank club you might just as well stay silent. All pessimists if that is still allowed in these days are hounded like unwanted vermin.

We all want the same thing, but we just have a different view on things. And the way it is going it sure as hell isn't looking good!

☭ Gulag ☭ Forest's Problem is NOT the manager. Its THE PLAYERS.

The body of general thought on here appears to be that OG is not to blame. He is doing his job. He is getting the team playing right and most games we have actually been good and created plentiful chances. (The xG kings!) So if its not OG's fault then whose fault can it be that we have started off getting the results of relegation candidates (6 points in 8 games)? THE PLAYERS. Perhaps our recruitment has not been as smart as some have thought.

My point would be simple: where are the goalscorers? Take our midfield. Schlager, McAtee, Sangare, Dominguez, Yates. Who is going to bag ten goals a season out of those? Who is going to bag even five? Our defenders/wingbacks do not score much either. That puts it all on the forwards. But the chance might not fall to them so what do you do then? Where is our goal threat from set pieces? My point is I think our recruiting team have not recruited players who can contribute to the goals IN GENERAL. That doesn't help OG get results and leaves the players creating chances they cannot convert all too often.

Fantasy Football If Necos goal against spurs stood, and Milenkovic didn't make his mistake last night we'd be 9th

These are just two examples sticking in my head where either poor refereeing or individual mistakes are costing us.

You could say other things like "we should score more from all these chances" against Ipswich and palace or "defend better" against arsenal and come to a similar conclusion, but these two stick out to me.

For me this puts things in perspective for just how UNLUCKY we've been, and that it makes sense to keep backing the players and the manager because bad luck streaks can't last forever.

☭ Gulag ☭ Didn’t get home until 2am from the game and was too tired to post. Now I’ve thought about it I think we are going down.

Every season there is a team who are playing quite well but just can’t get results and I think this season that’s us. We seem to either play tight and are boring as fuck but solid or we play loose and play lovely flowing football but can’t score. Either way the result is the same, we don’t win. I’ve been to every game so far this season and I don’t see what can change with the players we have. I’d probably start Sangare over Schlager and Hudson Odoi over Ndoye but that would be about it.

On a positive note I do like Munoz he’s a sensational player and should have been playing higher than Palace and us. I also like how direct Delap is. I love a striker who just turns and runs at goal.

☭ Gulag ☭ Do we just have bad players?

Two reasons you underperform xg - luck or quality. There's no rule that xg always regresses to the mean; some players will always underperform xg because they're not good at finishing.

This has been a consistent problem for us. I think we significantly overrate the quality of the squad for a few reasons (we spent a lot of money on it, they look decent at the non finishing bits, we're sentimental about players who have been here a while). To take an example - Delap is a bad finisher by his career xg; why would we expect that to suddenly change just because we're underperforming right now?

Thoughts?

Delap performance

Missed the game tonight. I'm curious as to how Delap got on?

I've been impressed by some of his play in recent games and his passing has been surprisingly good at times.

Goal threat wise, I feel like he's been getting into the right positions but has lacked composure/confidence.

But I mentioned this to a friend who is a Chelsea fan, and he says I'm delusional, and he's just shit.

What's the current assessment?
