I honestly think the best witchy music makes you feel like you've stumbled into a ritual you're not supposed to witness. I love eerie melodies, distorted vocals, strange production, and that almost hypnotic feeling where a song is beautiful but also makes you a little uncomfortable.

I get why people enjoy songs with obvious witchy imagery, but I think the atmosphere matters more than lyrics about witches, spells, or the occult. A song can have the whole aesthetic and still feel generic, while something with unsettling vocals and unusual sounds can create that feeling without mentioning magic at all.

I also love when a song sounds slightly wrong in a deliberate way. Distortion, layered whispers, dissonant instruments, and vocals that feel almost otherworldly can make music much more memorable than a perfectly polished production.

I'm looking for songs that feel dark, ritualistic, hypnotic, or a little disturbing without necessarily being heavy metal.

What songs give you that feeling of listening to something beautiful that also feels like it shouldn't exist?

So, i work at a grocery store and my coworker and i listen to music in the back room all day while we cut up produce. he was a dj back in the day and adores all music, from hard metal to weird goth sounds to experimental jazz to disco to whatever u can possibly name, and i also do, im goth and a jazz player and that's all just to say, i think the task i'm trying to accomplish will be pretty difficult. i dont think this man would ever dislike something, especially not enough to ask for it off.

anyway i got the idea to entertain myself by trying to make a playlist that will fry his brain. I'll tell him i made a new playlist that's fire (very common occurrence for me) except this time around he will wonder if its actually ON fire

imagine absolutely overstimulating, ridiculous, just horribly musically wrong, or extremely polar from everything else in vibe and sound. explicit songs are allowed just dont suggest anything like super sexual like cupcakke levels of crazy. i just wanna make him slowly react to his personal jigsaw trap for entertainment. i mean thats what they pay me for, right? definitely

edit: make sure its available on spotify

If you can read my handwriting haha. Keep in mind I have no idea if all of these are possible to acquire a physical copy of, they’re all just albums I really like. My only thing is that I’d prefer albums/eps over single song recs. Thanks!

Examples being:
Shiny Happy People - REM
We Can Work It Out - Beatles

I don’t mean the typical black magic woman, season of the witch, or witchy woman. I mean some pagan-like shit or similar vibe. Spiritual. Like Heilung, Lorena Mckennitt, The Hu’s Wolf Totem, etc… I will reply with my thoughts as I make my way through your suggestions.

I’m trying to get into jazz but unsure where to start. I learned and played some beginner jazz essentials back when I was a kid, but those don’t really fit my taste any more.

I generally like darker moodier artists like Low, Have a Nice Life, or GY!BE.

I love distortion, and would like to hear some modern, active artists.

Thanks for the suggestions

I’m going to be hanging out with some coworkers outside of work for the first time in a few days and I’m trying to make a playlist full of songs that will generally be liked by people in this age range.

I’m also in this age range but my music taste is not suited to everyone’s tastes. I started a playlist with songs I feel comfortable playing around other people but I’d like some more suggestions!

i got some music here that will show yall the specific sounds im looking for on a genre.

threeam - get out of my head (the beginning and end)

frank klepacki - act on instinct (abt 1:39, it also have bell pianos which is something i also absolutely love in music, i have found bell pianos on some new age and 90s pop.. if such ambience genre im looking for has these too, massive bonus)

portwave - nightmare (1:11)

portwave - epigram (over the whole song)

frank klepacki - dusk hour (2:34 he also uses bell piano, awesome)

final bonus points: low use of drums and any beats as im looking for an ambience genre/subgenre with this AUTISTICALLY SPECIFIC sound (i am actually diagnosed with grade 2 autism lol so dw im not being disrespectful here, im just explaining it is VEEEERY specific and hardly ill be satisfied with something that deviates from these very specific sounds)

Ill go first Chihiro- Billie Eilish (would love this kind of genre)

Hey everyone. I basically never post but I felt like I need something right now.

A teacher at my school unexpectedly passed away from a stroke last night and our entire community is in shambles. It it me really hard.

If you have recommendations that would mean the world. 🙏🙏❤️‍🩹

I have to find more songs like this, the meaning is so incredibly deep and beautiful. (I recommend translating the lyrics to get an idea)

All I can find are songs about wishing someone loved you back, but looking for the opposite. What are some songs about wishing you had feelings for someone who has feelings for you?

Not necessarily full breakup songs. Like Expectations by Olivia Rodrigo/Chappell Roan. Or You’re Not The One by Sky Ferriera

Also make sure the lyrics aren’t just sad but I’d like them to sound sad as well

What songs make you viscerally feel the mystery, the strangeness of existence? It happens to me with certain kinds of techno, but I'd love to know which songs do it for you.

So the slowed down version of the first 14 seconds of Bryan Adams ”Run To You” has been making rounds on tiktok lately. I absolutely adore the vibe of it. The song itself isnt bad, but I feel like the instrumental vibe wouldve been perfect for a more sultry indie like track rather than a powerful rock ballad. The song ”Desire Machine” by Spirit Blue is along the lines of what I want, but that band only has 3 songs out.

So does anyone have a recommendation for a song that does sound like the slowed down intro of Run To You? Or know any song that samples the intro in a more slow-paced song? I feel like it sounds so familiar but cant really place it

Here's my 9 favorites. I feel like I'm stuck with genres I enjoy for long. Open to try something I'm not familiar with.

I recently started bartending at a small club, and when there isn’t a DJ we do have full control of the music through VirtualDJ.

We already have a pretty solid music library, but I want to start building my own playlist for when I’m bartending specifically. Disclosure is a hit at our bar, so that’s definitely the kind of vibe I’m looking for. We’re open to pretty much anything, whether it’s current music, throwbacks from the 2000s/2010s, old-school classics, pop songs, hip-hop, R&B, or whatever else — as long as it’s been flipped into a good house remix, club edit, or something with that dance-floor energy.

With there being so many remixes out there it’s honestly overwhelming trying to figure out where to start.
So, I’m looking for recommendations to give me a good foundation to start digging down the rabbit hole.

Give me your favorite:

House remixes of popular songs or throwbacks

Club edits that work well in a bar or small club

Disco house, funky house, deep house, or bass-heavy tracks

Remixes that people instantly recognize and get excited about

DJs, producers, SoundCloud sets, YouTube channels, or remix collections worth exploring

Underground gems are welcome just as much as recognizable bangers. I’m not trying to stick to one genre or era — I just want to discover some good stuff and build a playlist with a little bit of everything.

Hi. I really struggle when it comes to finding new artists because my music taste is so picky and there are a lot of stuff that just don't click to me. It's really hard to discover new artists cause it's really rare to find something that I'd like. I explored a lot of different genres that I enjoy but l still haven't found that artist whose music clicks for me on that same level 😭 my favorite artist of all time is Alice phoebe Lou and the second I discovered her years ago and started listening to her music I immediately knew this is gonna be my favorite artist of all time and her music made me obsessed with that genre or sound, however ! haven't found many artists who give me that same click.
So I'm looking for artists who have that same style as Alice phoebe Lou or strongboj. What I love about Alice specifically is that dreamy psychedelic sound that she has feels so hazy so smoky with a hint of jazziness. Her music makes u feel so dazed and I love that sounddd.
What attracts me specifically is a female vocalist with that feel that makes u wanna levitate. I KNOW THATS SO VAGUE BUT IDK HOW ELSE TO EXPLAIN THE FEELING 😭I love the soft soothing warbling vocals rather than strong high pitched voices. And I love the organ like sounds in her songs and the fuzzy guitars the loose drums, it's all just so warmmmm. I know this sounds weird but I hope someone that knows what I'm talking about reads this post. I've looked for similar artists everywhere and had no luck finding any I can to this subreddit as a last resort lol. Also I know that it's impossible for one artist to sound like the other I'm not asking for an artist that exactly matches what I described I'm just looking for some recommendations that you would probably think I like based to what I said I'm drawn to. So please if you have anything that you think I'd like or has that same vibe to Alice please do tell😭

I've listened to most adjacent artists. If you have a really niche recommendation, let me know

I’m addicted, I need more recommendations. This song literally feels what I will feel, hear, and see when I die.

(Any era of music), just something that feels like I’m transcending out of my body.

Really appreciated if you send me anything like these
