Commander pauper cube
I have upgraded my pauper cube to be a commander pauper cube. I need help on deciding on how to draft.
I have added all of the Recent Legendaries from Modern Masters onwards.
My question is how to get the commanders into peoples hands.
I will give everyone (8 Players) a Command tower and a Prismatic Piper
Then either:
A 6 card pack with just commanders (they get to pick one and pass and get one more?)
Or I seed them into the packs that everyone drafts from like 20 card packs and they get two legendaries in each pack? And can pick two from each pack
Cube for reference:
https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/cyp
Go to the maybe-board for the commander cards
The other option I have for when there is 4/5 players is to draft it a way I made up called the Guild draft
* Separate the cube into each colour, multicolour, colourless, and land
* Each person picks a guild (or chosen at random) (try to keep it so there is only two players drafting the same single colour)
* Each player gets all of the guild specific cards and guild lands (fetches, shocks, duals ect)
* Now take it in turns to draft your colours, alternating colours each pick. Try to get it so each player is drafting a different colour in the first round (to speed up drafting)
* All picks are done in the open
* You can sub out a colour for a colourless card (usually we divide the tri coloured lands out fairly at the end)
Draft 24 picks (12 of each colour) for traditional cube drafts or 30 picks (15 of each colour) for Commander

(Memorable) draft chaff
Hi there,
I like to play drafts and sealed and sit on a mountain of cards. I'm thinking of just cherry pick the gems into a cube (and dump the rest) and replace cards as sets go by. Does this seem like a project doomed to fail? Can you build a cube without an underlying synthesis or strategies?
It would make at least for a nice trip down memory road..

How to get inspiration
So i have built a twobert that i have been dialing in for awhile, I've made a set cube, I have also made a commander cube that's probably closer to a mystery booster setup and I really enjoy building and tweaking a cube. But unless something hits me i have a hard time doing the initial pen to paper what I Want to build.
My question is for those with multiple different cubes of different sizes budgets and themes, what do you usually look for when getting inspiration for a cube so its not generic good stuff cube number #3?

How much fixing?
So I had my first ever cube draft of a cube I designed. It was really fun and people seemed to have a good time.
One of the concrete pieces of feedback I got was that there should be more colour fixing.
The cube is roughly designed around wedges with the intention that players on average go for 2.5 colours, being able to play 3 colour decks but requiring prioritising fixing to do so. Each colour-pair has 2-3 dual lands and then there's a bunch of colourless mana dorks and a bunch of green land tutors.
I'd really like to avoid 5c soup decks but maybe I've gone too far the other way?

Half-boardwipes
Hi,
I am looking for cards similar to [[Engineered Explosives]]. Something that can quite well mop up the board, but not wipe it completely. My cube is quite combat and creature heavy, so I am not a fan of classic boardwipes.

You talked, I listened. Scanner is now freemium
Hello guys, I made a card scanner that identifies many overlapping/occluded cards in an image. It's integrated directly with eBay. You can try it out for free with ads, or without ads for $15 CAD/month, unlimited scans for both free and paid users (free users can only scan up to 50 cards per image). I'd greatly appreciate it if you tried it out and use it to scan in your cubes!
EDIT: I also would like to address comments about AI use. I graduated as a computer scientist before AI (A post of mine 10 years ago when I was in college https://www.reddit.com/r/audiophile/s/WItk6qFNv6). I did use AI for this, but I used it intentionally and as a helper, not as a crutch. I did in fact make this from the absolute ground up, and I taught myself machine learning to do so, trained my own models from scratch, and I even hand built the servers it's running on. I've been playing magic for 15 years and always knew there should be a scanner like this, so I spent 5 months of my own time and sold a large portion of my collection to fund & make it. Ask any questions you may have, but please be respectful. I'd greatly appreciate it if you tried it out (and potentially subscribed, job markets tough lol)

First cube advice
So while I explore options for scanning my entire cube, this is my starting point:
- 30 artifacts.
- 35 lands. 1 each Temple land, Shock land, and Tap Triland. 5 colorless or "any color" lands for fixing and ramping.
- 10 3x color cards, one in each 3 color pair. Tend toward large creatures or meaningful effects.
- 50 2x color cards, 5 in each color pair. Tend to be focused around 1-2 specific strategies. UG is +1 counters and clones, RW is artifacts and aggro, WU is flyers and control.
- 47 cards of each color. Mana cost is roughly evenly distributed for each color (ie - mostly 1-4 mana cards, with 2-3 cmc being the most populated). Each color has 8-12 cards that do a "main" thing, like black gets discard and removal as main things, green gets ramp, etc. Then each color gets a few small things they can do, 4-6 cards each. Black gets reanimate, blue gets evasion, white gets equipment.
Okay so obviously I need to upload the cube to get a better round of feedback. That said, anything you would change, add or remove from a top down perspective?
Thanks for your help.

[TRK] - Deanna Troi, Psychic Counsel
The card joins the long list of [[Good-Fortune Unicorn]], [[Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit]], [[Arwen, Weaver of Hope]], [[metallic mimic]], [[Shelinda, Yevon Acolyte]] and [[Securitron Squadron]].
The clean, simple card text is somewhat a little overshadowed by the novel-length description in the card type section.
Clean design for unpowered cubes, if you can warm up with UB and the artwork.

My playgroup and I built a co-op roguelite format out of draft chaff/leftovers, and we are obsessed with it (Meet: Afterdraft)
Quick question: what do you usually do with all the leftover commons and chaff after a draft or a cube session?
My friends and I got tired of letting those cards collect dust, so I put together a cooperative PvE mode called Afterdraft that we've been testing like crazy. Honestly, it has become our favorite way to wind down a game night.
Here is the gist: you take all the unchosen cards from the draft and mash them into an automated "Horde" deck. Then, the table teams up using their drafted 40-card decks to fight off waves of the very cards they passed on.
It is fully balanced for 1 to 4 players, has a fun roguelite progression (if you win, the Horde gets bigger and absorbs the next pool), and it runs super smoothly if you use a 180-card pauper/peasant twobert or just standard store booster leftovers.
I wrote up a clean little PDF manual with all the rules, token guides, and difficulty tiers if anyone wants to check it out:
🔗 Manual: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1um0Uhb32mpRnB0C_9UIEYrIX9qkmB6Qv
🔗 Our Cube List: https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/9936925e-6058-4dd0-ae5f-9676ddf937dc
If you and your playgroup end up trying it out, let me know how it goes or if you tweak anything. I would love to hear some feedback!
Edit 1: You found some errors in my manual and I decided to be clearer on some things, so I updated the links with the new versions. Thank you! If you need a translation for any other language, just send me a message.
Edit 2: I add more ideas and sugestions you guys sent and i had. Hope you guys try this new version and give me your pieces os mind. Thank you again for trying and giving me your time! Love you!

I made a 360-card cube for my local library, mostly out of chaff...it's not perfect, but hoping I didn't mess anything up horribly.
I donated a 360-card cube built in a few hours from random chaff cards in my collection plus some spindowns and d6 to my local library. I printed out the Basic Rules from M13, and a 1-page summary "advertising" the free cube. Gave everything to a clerk who I know plays Magic, and she thanked me up and down...
The cube, 150 basics, a couple dividers, some tokens, and 4 Quick References that I believe came from old welcome decks all fit in an old Bundle box unsleeved, and the clerk said she'd talk to the director about whether she'd allow the cube to stay at the library, putting everything I printed in a nice binder, whether it should be sleeved in penny sleeves, etc. If it's not allowed for some reason it'll come back to me, but that's not what I'm worried about.
My collection of chaff filled one of those four-row white card boxes, so 510 mostly inexpensive cards is no skin off my nose, and if it gets people playing Magic at the library more, sweet. There's a couple cards worth a few bucks in there, like a Cryptic Command, but again, it's mostly junky chaff meant to get new players interested.
I tried to get the balance of colors close, but there's more cards in green than anything else, for example, and blue, black, and red are way more "spell heavy" - I just didn't have a lot of creatures to put in the cube in those colors...
Green creatures are mostly elf mana dorks and wolves, red creatures are mostly goblins, white creatures are mostly humans and angels, blue has a decent amount of counterspells and card draw, black has some high-cost demons and lower-cost creatures, plus removal, red is mostly damage spells, plus artifact/enchantment/land removal, and green has ramp/pump/a little removal.
I made some cuts at the end like my Resolute Archangel, but there's still Explosive Singularity in the cube, and again, I know the balance isn't perfect, but I've been wanting to make something like this for my local library for a long time now, and am just hoping new players will enjoy it as a free way to start playing.
I don't have a list, but based on the partial description, how did I do? How can I get more Magic happening at the library without Commander, or spending lots of money I don't have? My goal is to get Cube Night happening weekly, like chess club or D&D.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: Wow, 120 upvotes. :O Thanks to all the kind people out there. :)
I talked to the director myself and she said yes, so I set everything on a table and here is a pic: https://imgur.com/a/Lo8hnCc
