Promo: E-book [New Release] Tower Defense Love by Max Strife in now available on kindle+. A spicy LitRPG

This book contains harem elements.

Hello, I am an author publishing my debut book on Amazon and excited to share it has finally released. I have previously written and published a vanilla LitRPG series on RoyalRoad under an alias my friends and family all know me by.

But for my first harem LitRPG series with explicit scenes, I will be using a fresh new pen name, Max Strife, since this book is not something I ever want my mother to read or even know I've written.

Characters have stats and status sheets with skills. Rewards they receive can increase stats and grant new skills and the armor and weapons they can purchase from the point store grant stat boosts and magic. The Game of the Gods they are competing in is a PvP environment, so the MC's faction faces off against equally strong teams in various competitions including Tower Defense.

I am currently working on book 2 and hope to maintain consistent releases.

Click my Reddit profile to find a spicy borderline NSFW promo video I posted of my MC’s faction of girls!

Blurb:

Rowan Calloway spends his days practicing martial arts and his nights entertaining attractive ladies, a carefree lifestyle any man would envy. But his natural appeal eventually lands him a hot date that turns out to be far more than he bargained for.

The twenty-one year old is soon embroiled with a sultry goddess who needs a new champion to fight for her in the upcoming Game of the Gods, a contest of high stakes with failure meaning death.

Now empowered by the literal Goddess of Fertility, Rowan discovers his new magic is better suited to champion a bedroom than a battlefield, so will need to leverage his advantages in the only way he knows how. He must recruit only the most beautiful ladies of the multiverse for his faction so he may unlock their hidden potential with his power.

Together, his team will face down factions of rival gods and goddesses in a gauntlet of games of war and blood, the winner determining the fate of an entire new world.

Tower Defense Love is a fun filled fantasy LitRPG by Max Strife containing, but not limited to, mature humor, spear fighting, demihuman cat ears, bad words, live commentary from outlandish game show hosts, magical healing via eyebrow raising means, and needy elves. For mature readers only 18+.

Note: Absolutely no AI was used in any way in the writing of the manuscript. This book was created solely by the meat muscle in my head.

Recommendation: asking How does the primal hunter series hold up throughout a full read?

• Upvotes

It was recommended to me on my kindle so I started the first book. I'm a little over half through and really liking it so I googled how many are in the series and saw that the 17th book is about to come out. Has anyone read them all and does it stay good through that many books?

Discussion Just started Path of Ascention am I understanding Matt's power correctly?

• Upvotes

I am on Chapter 4 and already hooked! But I am confused on this one part.

Matt just used Cracked Phantom Armor for the first time. and I wanted to make sure I undersatnd how his power works. From my understanding he only has 1 mana but can regenerate it endlessly once it is below 1% up to 1%. So, if Cracked Phatom Aromoe cost 1 mana per second how can he keep it active if he can only generate 1% of 1 mana?

Discussion Want to express some love for Samer Rabadi. Check out their series, they are somebof my favorite litrpg at the moment.

• Upvotes

Caught up to their newer series Fate's Attendant and its lovely. A great litrpg with a good mix of litrpg, some cultivation, and some card mechanics added in that are fun. Eight is great litrpg with a really good story and rhe numbers aren't super crunchy and it doesnt suffer from the craziness of numbers go up.

The side characters are good in the both series, im interested in the worlds, I really like the magic systems, and I feel like they are well written.

If you wver need a series give either of these a chance. My only (small) complaint is that I feel that the covers of book 4 and 5 are a little misleading (they are still awesome covers with amazing art). Slight Spoilers for book 4 and after of the Eight series MC had a time jump but the character is still a child on the covers. I could be wrong and it could fit but im still st the beginning of book 4.

If you see this post, keep up the great work my man. I love all your work so far.

Discussion Question on Primal Hunter (Book 1)

• Upvotes

I normally have two books going. One dead tree book that I physically read and an audiobook. After hitting my first DNF (Chrysalis, Book 1) I picked up Primal Hunter as an audiobook. I immediately was drawn in and really liked it. Right now, I am about 50-60% through the first book and it's becoming a slog.

I think it is because of two reasons - the MC is a loner and isolates himself most of the time. So there are no other characters to get invested in or watch personalities bounce off of. He is happily off in a cave making potions. The environment is the conflict and it's a lot of the same thing (make potion, shoot something).

The second is this seems to be a very crunchy stat heavy book. I think I now understand what an author said at a panel I sat on ... that crunchy numbers don't translate well to an audiobook. I'm getting to the point that when the MC starts looking at upgrade options in front of him that I just tune out and find myself tuning back in and go "huh, what, where are we"?

I REALLY like the concept of the book, this God he just met, and the camps. But my question is ... is the MC off and isolated most of the time where all I observe is him hunting by himself and musing over his stat points. As the book (and/or series) go on does the MC become part of a group, make some friends, or have people to interact with to break up the crunchy stat crunching?

Edit:
Thanks for the response y’all. Sounds like that being isolated a bit is a theme that stays but that it does level out some as things progress. Looks like I will sticking with the series a bit.

Recommendation: asking Recommendation for centuries long stories

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendation of good stories which spans over centuries / millennia, where the MC (or at least one of the MC) somewhat survives over the story (by being immortal, time travelling, or something else) and observe/participate/react to the changes brought by history moving. Bonus points if this includes some nation/kingdom building.

To give some example of what I read with similar concepts :
- A Journey of Black and Red by Alex Gilbert (very good character development over several decades/century)
- Cal de Ter by Paul-Jean Hérault (nation building over millennia, it's probably the closest to what I'm looking for)
- Malhorne by Jérôme Camut (an immortal going over time, the idea is nice, but the conclusion is a bit meh)
- Tree of Aeon by Spaizzzer (DNF, good idea but terrible writing / story)

I realize most are written by French authors, and half was never translated in English, so these examples may not be super useful.

I'm mostly reading on kindle.

Promo: Audiobook/E-book The Official Release of A Dragon Idol’s Reincarnation Tale Book 7 on KU and Audible

• Upvotes

Hello, everybody, AbyssRaven here to present the seventh installment of “A Dragon Idol’s Reincarnation Tale”. We had some dungeon fun in the last book, but this time we’re back to pushing the plot. Specifically, we will be bringing Hestia onto the global stage, or at least as global as it can get in a medieval fantasy world.

Let us wish our Dragon Princess a beautiful Debutante. And at the same time give them a taste of what the Dragon Idol can do with the publicity.

A Dragon Idol’s Reincarnation Tale Book 7: Debutante on Amazon

A Dragon Idol's Reincarnation Tale Book 7: Debutante on Audible

Aethon Books once again helped me with the publication and was the one responsible for the book’s cover. Like last time, the Audible version will come with the release of the story on Amazon. Ms. Erin Bateman is our narrator once again, so I do hope everybody will enjoy listening to the story.

Here’s the synopsis!

The time for the young Princess of Dragons to make her debut has come!

… Or, at least, to officially announce her status as an Idol of the Goddess of Light and Healing.

Having finally reached the capital of Artorias, Griffonpeak, Hestia was granted another audience with her patron goddess, only to learn that her enemies were a little closer than she had expected. The demonkin of Bole’Taria had infiltrated more than just the human countries; they had taken over her church.

A priestess whose own religion sought her death… just another perk of showbiz! With new allies and enemies approaching the limelight cast by her blessing, so will it cast a shadow large enough to devour the city. With the arrival of an entourage of the Imperial Inquisition of Folschreck, magic and dragon claws will not ensure her safety. Speech and the dramatic theatrics of the nobility shall!

From improving her levels in the dungeon of Cedaraille, to now becoming a noble worthy of her title as a Princess of the Dragon Empire of Kargryx, the Griffonpeak Arc will ensure Hestia and Aurora become more than a countryside tale. Her stardom will make countries remember her face!

Recommendation: asking Superhero/Comic Book themed LitRPGs

• Upvotes

I'm looking for a LitRPG that has a superhero/comic book theme rather then a fantasy or generic sci-fi theme.

I know there's the "Superpowereds" series but that's progression not really LitRPG.

Recommendation: asking Looking for a series like Player Manager or The Daily Grind

• Upvotes

I'm looking for a slice of life series where the MC is living a normal life, gets access to some kind of LITRPG nonsense, and uses it to improve their lives and, eventually, their community. Something low stakes, where the conflict isn't "can they defeat the dark lord?" but "can they get enough money to quit the job they hate?"

I thought "You Are Summoned" was going to be that, but it fell apart by the end of the first book.

Discussion ProWritingAid and AI

One of the YouTube channels I watched a lot of stuff from in order to try to become a better writer (very low bar 😅) had suggested using ProWritingAid at one point. I started using it and found it to be very useful, but I'm curious how people feel about it, specifically in regards to the AI usage.

I haven't been using it to do the writing for me, unless you count pointing out grammar and spelling mistakes, but I have been using it for feedback, like when it said my protag was too passive during a scene or when it criticized my use of "meta commentary." I'm just not sure if it counts as "using AI to write my story" for people even though all the words are written by me.

I have some friends that I've asked to read it, but they aren't writers and can only be so much help. I definitely don't have the cash to hire someone to do it, though I'm not even at a stage where that would be a realistic thing to consider.

Recommendation: asking Should I read Apocalypse Parenting?

Ok so as a mom I’m interested in this take and want to read it however I have anxiety issues and I’m worried I won’t be able to relax enough to enjoy the story if I’m worried about the kids the whole time. I wouldn’t even worry if they were teenagers but the youngest is three! If it’s more funny then stressful I’ll be fine but if it’s more high stakes drama I won’t make it lol

The peace was always a lie. Now the mask has finally cracked.

In the wake of the events of Book 04: Blooming Flower, the fragile balance held together by the great powers of the land of men did not shatter without warning. It broke the moment the Citadel of Magecraft, founded by the beloved and benevolent Queen Arianna for her equally beloved and benevolent daughter, fell under a sudden and brutal assault. The followers of the Messiah, an insidious order that had spent a century and a half plotting in the shadows, finally chose to reveal their hand and strike.

The attack is the spark the Triumvirate has waited for. Long spoken of only in fearful whispers by the Faith, they seize the moment to step onto the stage, not quietly, but with a detonation that shakes the continent. Their entrance ignites the War of the Twenty Monarchs: a conflict drawing in rulers of four different races, and one of the bloodiest chapters in the history of Fiendfell.

As with every conflict this land has known in the four hundred years since the reincarnation of the First Dungeon Master into Fiendfell, there is no way our vessel-hopping protagonists would simply watch from the sidelines. They will have their stake in it. Alliances will be drawn, broken, and redrawn; old allies will become liabilities, and unexpected hands will be extended from the last places anyone thought to look. In a continent tearing itself apart, survival means choosing sides, and choosing well.

Discussion Am I crazy?

So I listen to a lot of Litrpg series on audible and I’ve had a pet peeve of the way voice actors pronounce “Ugh”. Do people casually pronounce this as “Ugg” in real life. Maybe I’ve just been reading this wrong my whole life, but I’ve definitely never heard anyone say this before besides voice actors. I’m currently listening to Battle Mage Farmer narrated by Michael Kramer. I know it’s an odd peeve, but is this just a me thing? Have I been completely mistaken my whole life?

Recommendation: asking Need an Audible not so crunchy Recommendations.

Hey guys,
So I have been in a bit of a slump in terms what I think of is good LITRPG.

LITRPG I listened to that I love: DCC all eight books. 1% Life Steal love this series. The Exilian Syndrome Series to name a few.

Book series I dropped off of: Primal Hunter 1, Mage Tank I stopped at 3. Chrysalis (Which sucks because I like his writing style and monster as the MC but just I am not feeling it.) Forage Master

I think what it comes down to is Crunch. Crunch on Audio book can be brutal. That was a reason I dropped off The Land. Anyone have any LITRPG audio book recommendations that are not so crunchy?

Thank you!

Discussion Why do so many teeth crack in 1% Lifesteal?

Is this series an AI-written series? How many teeth have to crack in frustration before we find out the tooth (truth)?

In just two books I’ve counted five characters that have cracked their teeth from gritting them. Just bad writing if it’s human, understandable if AI.

It's been awhile since my last tier list. I am two years into this genre now and I feel like it's running dry. Obviously it's not, tons more out there to enjoy, it's just difficult separating the chaff from the wheat. So help me out! What are some recommendations that you all have?

(Disclaimer: yes I know all of these aren't Litrpgs. I tend to lump in progression fantasy as well.)

Recommendation: asking Next series rec?

Hello! Been reading random series from recommendations to other people on this sub for a while, but since there's a big recency bias with that method, was wondering if anyone had a good rec for a series I've missed out on. Big preference for longer or completed series (completed for obvious reasons, longer so it'll be more time before I run out of books again lol) and for stuff I can get through Kindle. Series I've read so far and a brief review follow:

Dungeon Crawler Carl - 10. Sci-fi series that snuck litrpg into the mainstream. It's probably the best, both in terms of personal enjoyment and technical execution.

Book of the Dead - 10. Incredible work, Rinoz the goat. Liked Chrysalis so much I jumped into this one to see if the author could hit twice, and got a series which is as good as Chrysalis but for completely different reasons. Awe-inspiring range

Chrysalis - 10. Incredibler work, Rinoz the goat. Love it.

Hell Difficulty Tutorial - 10. Hype moments and aura: the series (complementary)

1% Lifesteal - 10. Actually just a good book. Love the unique fantasy-cyberpunk setting, and love the direction the series is progressing.

Azarinth Healer - 10. Not the best by characters or world building or technical writing, but hits exactly what I like about litrpgs, in sequence, then repeats the sequence. Almost the whole thing feels specifically written for my tastes

The Bee Dungeon - 9. Really good stuff, love it to death. Wanna give it a 10, but I do like all the other 10s more than this one. Probably my favorite 9 though.

Defiance of the Fall - 9. great stuff, got bogged down a couple times but last couple books were great

The Path of Ascension - 9. Love the worldbuilding, but it's held back a little by a lack of stakes. Everything is just preparing for this big thing that's been on its way for 13 books now, and won't arrive for 10 more

The Primal Hunter - 9. Great stuff, love it to death, but I wish we had more numbers go up. Progress feels like it slows down with each book, and at book 16 that's VERY slow. I do like long elaborate fight scenes though

Reborn as a Demonic Tree - 9. Good stuff, fun empire-builder shenanigans

Mage Tank - 9. Mostly good stuff, a few parts put me off but I really love it on the whole

Judicator Jane - 8. First book is definitely the worst I've ever read, but then there's an unbelievably high quality turnaround. Everything after book 2 is fantastic, it's like a reverse power fantasy-- the unbeatable MC whose actions will inevitably blow up into a catastrophe

Nightmare Realm Summoner - 7. this is the white bread of litrpg

Savage Awakening - 7. Good stuff. A little repetitive, but stays fun. Series set up to keep going, then just kinda ended

Rise of the Living Forge - 7 - more litrpg white bread. Fun while reading, exits my brain as soon as I stop

Heretical Fishing - 6 - Good book that just didn't click with me. Got frustrated with the sheer quantity of faffing about, nobody can even breathe without getting into a "who is more clever and annoying" competition with whatever is nearby. Reading them all back-to-back may have been my mistake

Rise of the Undead Empress - 6. I like it, but the writing quality feels like it's trying to convince me not to

System Universe - 6 - Genuinely unsure why this is as popular as it is. It's good, but only barely. Milquetoast power fantasy

Ultimate Level 1 - 6 - not great, but checks all the boxes. Moving in an interesting direction now

Amelia the Level Zero Hero - 6 - Fine. Just a One Punch Man litrpg series. I just happen to really like one punch man

Skill Eater - 5. The writing is fine, I just don't love what's written. When there's an emergency that they're fighting off, it's good fun, but before & after that can be torturous. Book 4 repeatedly states how hopeless the situation is and they have a week to prepare or the whole city dies, then they keep inventing excuses to slack off or party to relieve stress so they don't go crazy. This would be fine over a longer period of time, but they couldn't lock in for one week?

Welcome to the Multiverse - 4. barely passable, frustratingly inconsistent. Author has good ideas but little ability to execute on them, keeps coming up with stuff and then forgetting about it in 1-2 chapters. I should not know your material better than you

EDIT: I missed one He Who Fights With Monsters - 9. First three are legendary, everything after that is basically a different series (that I like, but not as much).

Just started book 7, and Ilea goes to visit Meadow and Goliath. Goliath uses Meadow's real name and I was treated to this literal visual text melting. It was so unexpected that I had to stop reading and post this to share the moment of genuine happiness it evoked.

Anyone else fine this or other unexpected moments a great joy?

Promo: E-book Typhonic - A LGBTQ+ Gender Transformation Superhero LitRPG Adventure - Available now in eBook/Physical!

Post image
0 Upvotes

HI ZEV! Er, I mean, hi all!

Typhonic is my newest novel featuring a nobledark setting, LitRPG-lite themes, superheroes, genderbenders, 🏳️‍⚧️themes, and intrigue similar to the World of Darkness.

The novel's a little different from your usual LitRPG in that I converted the original web-run of the story from the Quest format. In that format I would write chunks at a time, then allow readers to vote on what the MC would do next. Some vote choices required actual dice rolling to judge whether the MC achieved their goal. Think of it like playing Dungeons & Dragons with your friends, only you're all controlling the same character at once!

But enough about the process, here's the blurb!

Dust Jacket:

Sometimes the strongest heroes come from the most villainous backgrounds.

Life for Morgan Axios seems idyllic to anyone else looking in. His family is one of the most affluent, superpowered crime families in Gravesea City. Whatever Morgan wants, he can get his hands on. Well, everything except love from his family and meaningful superpowers of his own. All he has to do in return is stay hidden away from the world and try not to be an even further embarrassment to the family name.

That all changes on the night of Morgan's 19th birthday. A chance encounter with one of the leading heroes of the city leads Morgan to receive a special serum designed for those individuals without true superpowers. In the process, he gains a brand new form: A draconic woman with abilities far in excess of his wildest dreams. Now he must navigate what it means to be a hero while keeping his female alter-ego a secret from the rest of the Axios family. The only problem is that his alter-ego forces him to confront the hardest foe imaginable: His own trauma and psyche!

Recommendation: asking New to the genre

Recently relented to a POCKET FM ad on YT, and fell down a rabbit hole of delight!

The platform is super annoying — no book marking. No respect for the sleep timer. Random starts when a day’s allocation on a book is through, etc.

Looking for a platform and maybe two starter series. Prefer something with a story and not just endless fights and stats logs.

I see recommendations here in my brief peruse of this sub but they don’t have a source. Wanting to know what people recommend other than audible or kindle to access.

Thanks. I’ll go back to reading past posts now.

EDIT: willing to I did one $1 payment to PocketFM and have been loving the series I listening to. I had no idea this was a whole assed genre; never read / heard of this until about 10 days ago. It’s starting to replace radio for me.
