Enclosure Help Need help with heating on the warm side

I had a 50 watt bulb on the warm side and the hot hides surface temp was heating to about 80-82 degrees (in freedom units) and the top of the hot hide was around 91 degrees (surface temp). The ambient temperature was about 81 degrees. I've seen that this is too cold and the leo I just got has been in her cold hide all day even after eating so i just picked up a 75 watt bulb about an hour ago. The ambient temp ontop of her hot hide was reading 110 degrees before I unplugged the light and the hot hide was around 90 degrees?

What should I do to make sure shes warm enough but not too hot? I can put in the old bulb but I think she'll be too cold or I can try raising the current light. Any advice?

Enclosure Help Temporary Affordable setup for adult gecko

I am moving out of my house soon and I need a small, portable, temporary setup for my leo while the house is showing. It will be between a few weeks and possibly up to 2 months. My tank right now is 50 gallons but it is too big for the house I will be staying in temporarily. Does anyone have recommendations that are affordable and small to keep her in? I was looking at plastic foldable options but some research tells me that these are possibly harmful since it will be a longer period and I will need to heat the tank? My plan is to use paper towels as substrate for easy cleaning. I will use a log for her cool hide in the middle and a basking rock for the basking, since I cannot use a heat matt. Does anyone have any recommendations to add, improve, or change this setup?

Help - Weight Is she underweight?

Hi all!
Another question from me. šŸ˜… This is Gladys! She is recently rehomed with me and she's been here since Sunday night (~9:30pm).
I looked at the picture guide for weight, and she looks underweight and I want to get her healthy as soon as I can- whether going to vet or feeding more. She's eaten yesterday and today, 8 dubia roaches yesterday and 6 today (calcium w/ d3 yesterday calcium w/o d3 today).

I don't know much about how her former owner cared for her, they used the UVB bulb I pictured in my previous post but I have taken it out since she's come home and have a incandescent bulb in (25W currently, changing to 50W tomorrow!). They fed her dubia roaches mainly, said they tried crickets (she apparently did not like them), mealworms and superworms (both not often/as treats).
I am ordering more clutter for her and making a humid hide for her on Friday (when I get paid). She has 1 branch/log and 3 hides. I have a water bowl in the middle and a bowl of calcium w/o D3 in there as well.

She's been very friendly and hung out with my mom (no handling was done! Just "interacting" with her in the tank. She came up from underneath her paper towels after feeding today.

Anyway, sorry for the word vomit, I am just wondering whether to see a vet or feed more? Her tail seems to be the size of the healthy one but her body is thin. If anyone can give advice, I appreciate it very much! Sorry to post yet again. šŸ˜…

General Discussion Eating slowed

We got our dude (we think) at 3 weeks. He is now 5 months and what a learning experience. I am in Pennsylvania and its cooling off. He shed and then didnt poop for days, like 4 or 5. Gave him a warm bath and massage and next day lots of poop. Since then hes only ate a little bit, like 4-5 worms every couple days. He was eating daily like 15 worms. So million dollar question.

Is his eating slowed from the season change, the constipation, or the getting older? All of it? He seems a healthy weight so Im not worried too much but what can I expect as a 5 month goes into colder weather? Should I just try to feed him every other day at this point?

Products Wyze Camera Suggestion

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Cameras are the main thing people ask me about in comment sections, so I figured I’d make an update video about that (as fun as that 4-hour video of Cyrus’ first 52 hours in this enclosure are, several of those cameras have been shifted around, and the camera count is now planned to increase from 27 to 30)

Most folks mention they want to see their geckos at night, so this video cycles not only through each camera but also what their night views look like, so you can see what the quality looks like throughout the day (for the folks with leos that get up to daytime shenanigans)

My camera ecosystem is made up of Wyze V4 cameras. They don’t require a subscription, just a microSD card will do. My one main suggestion is that you go into each camera’s settings and shut off the spotlight feature, to avoid hitting your leo with a flashbang when the cameras notice it moving. I personally also shut off the status light (one less light to annoy them) and any externally-mounted cameras should have their IR night vision turned off since it will create a visual distortion against the glass of your enclosure

Enclosure Help Critique as much as possible

I have a new leapord gecko, I decided to buy them from Petsmart since they horribly mistreat their reptiles. I set him up in a 65 gal with four (bought) hides (hot, partial bask, humid, and cold), and paper towels. I heard from a lady to start them on substrate as soon as possible because and I quote ā€œif they will eat dirt they will eat paper towelā€. However, that contradicts everything I see online.

Thank you!

For background Leia is a 4 year old leo my wife and I got from her coworker. We've had her for a couple months now and today she finally decided to climb up my sleeve when offered. She's climbed into my hand a few times but never up my arm. She ended up chilling in my hood for about 15 minutes before turning around.

New Friend Feeding Question

Post image

My Leopard Gecko is approx 7 months old.

When i feed 'Blaze' , I take him out and put them in a ventilated Tub.

Does anyone one put worms or anything in a dish and successfully eaten out of it in the terrarium?

Or are they a lot more older and maturer?

Habitat, Setup, and Husbandry Digging

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My gecko has finally started to let me hold him/her and is very active wanting to crawl everywhere. So I really have to watch. But now he/she is digging right in front on the door. I thought it was cause he/she wanted out. But now they are doing it everywhere in the cage causing chaos dirt in the water. Sometimes I can’t find the poop cause it’s disappeared. Sometimes I try to put the dirt back. Is there another reason he’s causing mass destruction

New Friend New parent to surrendered leo, advice welcome

Hi all! I’ve come into possession this handsome man, Ziggy, after my friend surrendered him to me. She said he’s about 10-11 years old

The tank I have him in now is the 20gal he was given to me in, with a 50/50 mix of reptisoil and reptisand I plan to upgrade to a 40gal bioactive once my plant light comes in and I can go shopping for some decent cork rounds and plants. He’s munching on some calcium dusted super worms in this photo as she said he hasn’t been fed in a while :(

I also own a crested gecko, so bioactive enclosures and reptile care isn’t new to me. I’ve just never owned a leo before and want to make sure I’m doing everything right!! Any advice is appreciated greatly

Help - Health Issues Leopard Gecko keeping his head under water during soaks

Recently my Leo, Echo, went to the vet because of sperm plugs. They were removed and he seemed better. The vet prescribed medicine and told us to soak him 2-3 times a day and apply a cream they gave us. I’ve been soaking him but this time he put his head under the water and held it there. I freaked out and took him out but I wanted to know if this was him playing or drinking so I put him back in and he did it again. I waited to see if he would lift his head up by himself and he didn’t, so I took him back out.

I don’t think I will soak him anymore; maybe a sauna instead. I was mainly making this because I want to know if this is relatively normal or if there is something going on.

Enclosure Help Trying to figure out my lighting system and could use advice

I currently am using the intense basking spot and T5 HO for my leo, but I've noticed her basking spot is about 96 while the rest of her warm side is around 75-80 (due to the hides made of rocks) but wanted to even it out a bit more. However my main concern is that her tank gets to about 58-60 at night and it's only starting to get cold where I live. So I bought the combo deep dome, ceramic infrared, and the halogen bulb to help warm her up at night.

I'm aware I should purchase a dimming thermostat but would like advice on which budget friendly option is worth it. As well as how to set up the schedule for the basking spot vs. the CHE.

Help Is this way of feeding okay?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Context: I got my Pablo 2 days ago. Yesterday he trusted me enough to climb on my hand so i tought i will try to feed him today but at first i put down a cricket infront of his face and he just looked at it as it was hopping away and i was thinking that they are too fast for him since he is so young so i trapped them in a glass and calcium powder and he ate 3 crickets out of the glass and 1 out of the tweezers because i was too slow and didnt think he would jump after the cricket i was holding. (He also didnt look uncomfortable or stressed while climbing in and out of the glass thats why i gave him 2 more that way)

I am also thinking of switching to dubia roaches and also breeding them since they are slower and dont smell as bad as normal house crickets

Enclosure Help Securing hides, decor, and water dish on loose substrate.

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, I am going to make a better set up and tank for my leopard gecko and I have been wondering and finding conflicting information on how to secure decor. I know that it is recommended to have them on 4-6 inches of loose substrate, but you are also supposed to secure it on the bottom glass of the tank. My question is how do I do that on the water dish and shorter hides? Wouldn't they fill with substrate or have their entrance be blocked? Any information would be helpful.

P.S. He is currently in a 20 gal, and I am going to move him to a 40 gal. Right now the20 gal has about 1 and a half inch of loose reptisand + reptisoil substrate, but I am going to give him thicker substrate later with the ne tank and right now it is getting dusty so can anyone also tell me if the thicker substrate will prevent that or if I should add clay.

Enclosure Help Hospital tank help!

Hello everyone! I just recently (as in today) got a leopard gecko who had a really bad sperm plug. I volunteered to take him to the vet from the rescue he was at, fully covering the cost on my own. Well, when I brought him back to the rescue the owner asked me if I just wanted to keep him, since they fixed up the sperm plug and sutured him up, obviously i said yes cause hes a little darling.

Ive had many reptiles in the past, and currently have a leopard gecko with a tank fully set up and everything, buuuuuuuuut im not quite sure about this hospital tank set up.

I wanted to keep the main 3 hides in there but with how deep the sperm plug went and the wound, the vet really wants me to be able to keep an eye on the sutures and wound easily. And to also make sure that his sutures dont catch on anything and rip out. I have some fake plants cleaning up right now but do you guys have any other suggestions?

Added a photo of the poor little guy at the vet all doped up on meds

Hi guys! I posted here a week or two ago about my new Leopard Gecko who wouldn't eat. I'm happy to share she's eaten and has suddenly become a really strong eater. I've learned she enjoys being on my shoulder. Her name is Syrax but I've been calling her Evil Babby.

Thank you for all the advice!
