Maths 🧮 LC Higher Level Maths Free Resource

Hi Everyone,

My name is Abby and I am a final year medical student who got 8 H1s all the way back in 2021.

I was thinking of hosting a free webinar/info evening where I cover one of the Leaving Cert Maths Topics such as Statistics or The Circle as well as maybe going over an exam question or two.

I was just wondering would that be something people might be interested in?

Let me know if the comments and also if you have any suggestions on what I could cover let me know.

I was also thinking of doing one on LC chemistry as well maybe stoichiometry or Equilibrium. Again let me know

STRESS 🚨 I'm so worried

A bit of a rant here.

I'm really, really struggling. Im constantly in pain from what I think is endometriosis, and I can't get diagnosed for another few months. I experience a bit of brain fog from that so it affects my study. I'm also getting emotionally abused by my mother and I'm seriously just finding it hard to cope. On top of that I need around 570 points.

Has anyone been in a similar situation to mine? If so, could you please share some advice or words of encouragement

STRESS 🚨 Is anyone else really slow at studying??

I make to do lists for myself every time I study and I never ever finish them. It’s not that my list is super long and I have many tasks on it, it’s just that whatever i do always takes much longer than u expected.

Like a task that i thought would take an hour ends up taking up my whole study session.

Did anyone else go through something similar? Or maybe even this is happening to u now? wtf do i do

University 🎓 Course Dillema NEED ADVICE

I did the leaving cert this year and got 521 points , I am taking a gap year and will be applying for college next year , I am stuck between 2 courses , Advanced Therapeutic Technologies in RCSI and Psychology (through science) in Maynooth. Psychology is appealing to me because you can be your own boss later on in your career , I know that there is postgraduate study involved to become a clinical psychologist and that is fine with me I've heard that it is quite competitive though. ATT interests me because I love clinical trials and tests , and I want to design clinical trials and draw conclusions from them. Any advice would be appreciated i.e salary , worklife balance , enjoyment.

CAO 🎓 Picking a career with no interests at all?

As a current 6th year student, everyone knows that your career should be somewhat locked in at this point. And in my case, it is. I want to do medicine, or dentistry. Something in that industry that pays well. I say that because honestly that is the only thing that has ever interested me. I always see people on this subreddit or even in general speaking on how you should never choose a career you’re not interested in. Am I stupid to be doing that? Since I was like 14, I always said to everyone and myself I’d be an anaesthesiologist. Simply based on the fact they make fucking bank. I was good at my sciences and maths too and I liked them. As I got to 5th year chem and maths, I haven’t been doing so good but I know I can pull myself along and reach my goal. I do want this. I come from an asian family so maybe that’s why I’m so inclined to this. But is it just outright stupid to pursue this just on the money? Like obviously I want to help people other and I do have enjoyment in biology (and chemistry sometimes 🫩) but other than that, that’s as far as my reasoning goes.

I don’t really have much interests. I’m a music fanatic, I love the subject. I’m pretty good at it, being able to pass it at consistent h2-h1’s. And I did want to pursue this. But I want money yk? I want security. I know for music you have to basically be the top 1% to make it as a musician. And as much as I love it and want to actually pursue it, I wouldn’t be able to have the things I want in my life should I not succeed with it. I’m no talented prodigy and I know there are much more people than me who are willing to risk it all for music, and I just can’t do that. And that’s why I moved onto medicine.

When I think of all this future related stuff, it really makes me realise how much of an average person I am. And there’s really nothing wrong with it. I just wonder is there anyone who’s been in situation and regretted doing what I’m going to do. I mean it is kinda too late to back out lol, I did choose my subjects last year but advice would be amazing ;D

I feel like I have a plethora of problems lmfao. I absolutely love this subreddit

Business 💰🫰 Does anyone else feel completely stuck for business?

My teacher is hopeless, the class is absolutely manic. I feel fully stuck between a rock and a hard place. Most disheartening thing about it all was I was looking at a business course, just feel like now I’m falling out of love with the subject. I need a h2/3 aswell so I’m fully out of luck here altogether.

Does anyone feel the same or, even better have any advice?

Economics 🧮💅 anyone have a sample of a H1 economics project?

my teacher has set a deadline which is less than a month away, and i'm not exactly sure how a H1 project is meant to look like. has anyone an example that they'd be willing to share or know where to find one? i've went searching for a few but can't seem to access any. just want to have a look at a H1 standard project as a guide to see how i can improve my own. thank youu

STRESS 🚨 i’m concerned

i did the lc in 2026. im so concerned for people in this subreddit. i genuinely think young people are under way too much stress. like i get nightmares about the leaving cert. why is it like going into the gates of hell. why is our education system so fear mongering.

anyway if you disagree with me, please take your opinion elsewhere. i feel so sad reading some of your stories about your stress and burning out. please take care of yourself and know that there are so many options for you.

STRESS 🚨 Failed AAC Experiment

Yeah so I fucking flunked my Chemistry AAC experiment. In theory it all should’ve worked had I the right gear. Was trying to measure gas exchange and I thought my school would have a smaller conical flask. It didn’t! Also didn’t have enough time to even alter my variables to actually fit the equipment I was given the day of my experiment. So I went ahead with it, my reaction occurred but not enough produced where I could properly measure it.

It highkey sucks because I know I already lost marks and I haven’t even sat the fucking exam. This should’ve been the easiest 40% of my life, but I messed it up. So it’s gonna be a daunting 8 months until I get my LC results knowing a H1 isn’t in reach anymore.

And I also know some people might say “yeah but it all relies on your write up” which is true, but the 1500 word count is just bs too. And plus the whole point is to figure out how a factor affects rate of reaction, and I didn’t even get to see how it does 🤦‍♂️

So if you’re feeling like you’re doing bad on ur AAC. Just know there’s people who are doing worst lmfao. But we ball, ig? 🫩

Other Languages 🇵🇱🇵🇸🇨🇳🇱🇹🇭🇷🇺🇦🇨🇿🇸🇰🇷🇺🇯🇵 Help with LC Japanese

So I’m in 6th year and am self studying Japanese as an eighth subject because I need a language. I literally know nothing about what kind of vocab I need to know and how to structure my own answers for personal writing/ orals. If anyone has any previous notes, advice, or suggestions I would really appreciate it. Especially notes with translations and verbs. I’m currently using all three Nihongo Kantan textbooks and am picking up as much grammar as I can from everywhere I know but the textbook is all over the place, and I don’t have access to the listening. I also don’t have a tutor just yet. Just generally confused and need help. Also if you think I’m cooked please let me know also. I might consider dropping to ordinary if needs be.

PLCs 📖 How do I choose between a PLC and a regular course?

I'm a 6th year and I have no clue what I want to do (truthfully I didn't think I'd make it through my school career so finally reaching LC is quite overwhelming)

Has anybody got any experience in taking a PLC before going into a regular course?

Was it a bit less stressful?

Could you work in between going to classes? Was it costly/reasonably priced?

Did it deter you from going into college in anyway?

As the guinea pig of the family (moved here 3 years ago from South Africa) I want to be as informed as possible.

Thank you!

not LC already experiencing a burnout and its only october.

in fifth year i completely overworked myself, never really taking breaks. i had no balance between school and social life. due to this, i lost all motivation and energy in may. despite the three month summer break i am still more exhausted than ever.

i thought this was just an issue for september, but we are pretty much in november now and i havent started revising. not because of laziness but truly feeling incapable.

i dont know how to change this, i have high standards and will be very disappointed if they arent met but currently i just dont feel like i can do anything. any advice?
