Offering Multiple Languages Offering:English, Spanish, Norwegian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Portuguese, Danish, German, Dutch, Italian and Swedish, Seeking: French

I suppose the sensible thing would be to begin by explaining why I am here, which is that I would very much like to learn French, preferably from an actual human being rather than an increasingly disappointed language-learning application that has begun to suspect I shall never amount to anything.

In return, I can offer (gestures vaguely and rather theatrically towards the top of the post), all of the above! I make no promises about my ability to explain the subjunctive without becoming insufferable, though I shall do my best.

Beyond the languages, I am rather fond of literature, history, philosophy, poetry, and conversations. I read quite a lot, think probably more than is strictly necessary, and have a particular weakness for obscure facts that are of absolutely no practical use to anyone. I am also quite capable of talking about something I love for considerably longer than the circumstances warrant, so do feel free to tell me when I have become unbearable.

I should probably confess that I am not especially interested in treating this as an exchange of vocabulary lists, obligatory daily exercises, and increasingly desperate attempts to remember the difference between two French prepositions. Those things have their place, certainly, but I would much rather learn a language by actually using it, talking about our days, exchanging recommendations, arguing over books, discussing things we know far too much about, or discovering that we have absolutely nothing in common and getting along splendidly regardless.

I don't particularly mind whether you are a beginner in one of my languages or considerably more advanced than I am in French. We all begin somewhere, and I have never quite understood the embarrassment people feel about making mistakes in a language they are trying to learn. Getting things wrong is, after all, a rather important part of getting things right.

And, honestly, if we happen to become friends along the way, all the better. I think there is something rather lovely about meeting someone you would never otherwise have encountered, learning how they think, discovering the little peculiarities that make them themselves, and gradually finding that a conversation with a stranger has become something you look forward to.

I am perfectly happy talking to someone who has a hundred stories to tell, someone who takes a little while to warm up, or someone who turns out to be an enthusiast for some extraordinarily specific subject I know nothing about. Especially the last sort. I like being introduced to unfamiliar worlds.

So, if you speak French and would like to practise any of the languages I have mentioned, do say hello. Tell me about yourself, tell me what you are reading, tell me something absurdly specific that you happen to know, or simply tell me how your day has been. You needn't compose a particularly impressive introduction; I have just written several paragraphs and am still not entirely convinced I have managed one myself, and if we happen to get along, well, that would be rather nice, wouldn't it? :)

Offering Russian Offering: Russian | Seeking: English

Hey there! M45 would like to level up my ~B1 to B2 English to C1. And as return ready to give you back a same experience and knowledge as a native Russian. Keep notice that my location is in GMT+3 timezone but I believe it would’t be an issue to sync convenient learning schedule wherever my future partner is.

A few words about me: I’m a jewelry artist, digital sculptor and simply versatile person. Just started to read a Dune novel series and to be honest that’s the reason why I’ve decided to write this post 😁 Anyway, with or w/o help I gave a promise to myself that I’ll finish that. So if you are interested we can start reading simultaneously and that’s will be a core for our taught course where we can also time to time do a video conversations to discuss of what has been read.

Best, Alex.

Offering Mandarin Offering Mandarin Seeking English

Hi everyone! Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening! 🌷

I'm a girl from China, and I'm looking for a language exchange partner who is a native English speaker!

I have about 1–2 hours a day for language practice. I'm flexible about which app we use, and we can chat through text or voice calls. In return, I'd be happy to help you learn Chinese, including Pinyin, speaking, writing, and more!

Of course, we can also share our cultures and interests! I really love nature and animals, and I'm currently preparing to apply for a master's degree in ecology. I also enjoy drawing, electronic music, and video games. One of my favorite games is Arknights!

If you're interested in chatting and practicing together, feel free to send me a DM! (´・ᴗ・` )♡

こにちは!I'm 16, and have been learning Japanese in school. I love the language so far, but we've been focused a lot on writing so I can translate hirigana and some katakana to romaji, but that's about it. I know basic speech, but would love to learn more, and become conversational. I love to code, sing, do martial arts, and learn about different cultures and languages. I'm from america just so everyone is aware of timezones. ありがと!

Offering Multiple Languages Offering: Mandarin Chinese + Northeastern Chinese dialect | Seeking: English

Hi! I’m a native Chinese speaker from Northeast China, and I’m looking for a native English speaker to practise with. I can help you with everyday Mandarin and introduce you to
Dongbei hua, the Northeastern dialect.

Dongbei hua has a reputation in China for sounding lively and funny. Here’s a little joke about my English practice:
“Can you speak English?”
“必须滴!” (Bìxū dī! — You bet!)
“Is that English?”
“No, but the confidence is international.”
China is huge, and its regions have different accents, food, humour and ways of life. I’d love to share a bit of mine while learning about yours.
I enjoy travelling, running, photography and stand-up comedy. I’m working on my English and would be happy to exchange voice messages or have a casual conversation. Feel free to DM me here first. If we get along, I also use WeChat, WhatsApp and LinkedIn.

Let’s help each other learn — 必须滴!

Offering English Indian American here, Offering English. Seeking: Malayalam or Tamil or Hindi

Helloo! I am an Indian American from the United States, California! I'm half malyali and half Tamil as my dad is from Kerela and my mom is from Tamilnadu! So I grew up around both languages a lot. I can understand whatever my parents and family speak to me but struggle to understand things like peotry or music, and I struggle with speaking back. feels almost like a different language haha! The same also applies for Hindi, both my parents also speak it. I am interested in learning both those languages because I want to connect with my family and other indians on a cultural level, plus Ive shamed myself for so long that I want to break that cycle.

I am a native English speaker as I was born and raised in the United States, so I can definitely help you with English if you need help with that :D

DM me if you are interested

Offering Spanish Offering: Spanish (native) Seeking: English (native)

My name is Anthony 24M from the Dominican Republic. I speak Spanish natively and I'm looking for someone who enjoys diving into the languages. I like to teach Spanish so that'll be no problem. I'm the type of person who looks up lots of information about both languages so I don't mind being asked questions that may sound deep or nitpick. I'm into light gaming, pop music and videos, some history, and I can talk a little bit about everything. If this interests you, hit me up. I want to get an American accent and sound native so I'm working hard on it. If you don't mind being asked questions about accents and nitpicking then hit me up. I don't mind either if you ask me about Spanish.

Hi,

I'm looking for someone to practice French with. I can help you with English in return. I received 8 bands in IELTS which is an official English language exam and this score is equivalent to C1 level. We can do half and half time for both the languages and we can talk about literally anything.

I would say my level of French is B1. I'm preparing for TCF exam and aiming for B2 / CLB7 in all modules.

Feel free to send me a dm if you're interested.

Hey everyone. I’m wondering if language exchange actually works. Like I know this method can be very effective, but I feel that it misses something to make it perfectly work. Do you guys have some insights on your personal experiences? Thanks a lot. I’d be glad to know :)
