picked up a project today, cranks won’t start, no spark on cyl 3. spark plugs had oil on the end of them. 50psi across all 3 cylinders… oil in bottom of hull. what we thinking? am going to pour oil in the cylinders and re comp test to see if it’s a ring problem.
Anyone got tips or product recommendations for repairing a few patches of damaged gel coat on the underside my hull?
For context it's an 09 Kawasaki Ultra LX ski and the previous owner's poor fitting trailer has munched the gel coat over time. Seems like the fibreglass underneath is okay-ish to my humble eye and I'm hoping to get away with just a gel coat repair, but want to do it properly so I don't have to do it again in 6 months.
Any opinions on whether the plastic fibreglass composite underneath is okay, how to get moisture out of it before repairing (or if this is even necessary) and any good products recommendations would be awesome.

Previously posted about a no start condition when warm. Found that the exhaust manifold had a hole into the water jacket causing the manifold to fill with water and when starting the engine was sucking the water from the manifold into the cylinders through reversion. I found this by pressure testing the cooling system and found air pressure on the exhaust side. Took manifold off and found a visible hole inside the manifold. Replaced the exhaust and pressure tested again and all good now. After getting the new exhaust installed i had a stuck exhaust valve on cylinder 2. Was able the free the stuck valve by removing cams and tapping from the top side. Got it running again and it runs great except that it will intermittently crank and not start. I confirmed that when it doesn't start its not getting spark. In YDS it is showing RPM while cranking and not starting so thinking pulse coil is good. It seems the be somewhere around every 5th start or so it does this. Ill crank it maybe two to three times before i t will start again then it will start and sometimes shut off immediately or run fine. When it does start it runs perfect. When i had the cams out i set the piston at top dead center and lined up the two marks on cams to the cam caps. Has a new battery and seems to be charging properly. I'm stumped on this one. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas of what would cause this?
I have a 2006 Seadoo GTX standard and the manual says for my model that the fuel regulator should be 300kpa (42-45 psi) but can’t for the life of me find one. I had to replace it before and got the quantum but it’s rated for 400kpa and will make my ski run rich. Does anyone know where I can get one besides buying a used $700 whole fuel system?
I’m looking for my first jet ski and I’m 20 minutes from the harbor and at least an hour from the nearest lake. Whenever I do get a ski, I decided that I want to use it in the ocean to make the fun worth the cost. But there are so many strong opinions that I don’t know what to believe.
I read a lot that Sea Doos are junk and I should only look for Kawasaki or Yamaha. But they use the ride water to cool the engine and it seems like that’s not ideal for salt.
I just want to know if it’s a smart idea to choose a Sea Doo for the closed cooling system in salt water or if the Japanese brands are just as safe and flushing them is effective enough to get a long life out of the engine.
Purchased this 1988 JS550 from the original owner about 10 years ago in California with plans to fully restore it. Then I got married...then I bought a house...then we sold everything & the house (not the jetski) and bought a 70 acre property site unseen in Maine. The last 4 years out here has been busy with working on a Lobster Boat and obtaining my CDL & Hazmat/Tank endorsements. I feel like it is finally time to get back to my project.
Have been wanting one for awhile and finally found what I was looking for. 2023 Kawasaki Ultra 310LX, fresh water owned, 22 hours, Triton trailer, 2 life jackets for $12k. Plan to get it wrapped matte black and probably do the Riva Stage 2 kit but that's it.
This is a Yamaha 1993 650 in a Kawasaki body. I forgot to label the wires when I took it apart to replace the stator and the starter. I’ve unplugged and put back together 3 or 4 times now and can’t seem to get the wires correct. In a lot of the videos there are 2 white wires and I only have one and I have a solid brown wire that I can’t figure out what connects to it. If I need to unplug everything and take better photos I can. If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.
On my first go the Solenoid clicked once each time I pressed the starter but never a constant clicking nor did I hear the starter engage only clicking. Thoughts?
Selling these two skis simply because it was a horrible financial decision lol especially when you have a newborn. Located in South Jersey. I’ll provide more details over message! Pretty low miles imo
I’m looking at buying my first jetski so I have no real world experience with them yet. I’ve been combing through ads for a few months, watching dozens of YouTube videos on every ski that I’d potentially consider and searching this sub for any info about them all as well.
I live in Southern California and I’m about 20 minutes from the ocean and an hour from the nearest lake I can ride in, so the ocean has to be a viable option for me to make it worth my purchase.
I’ve noticed around here that many people are downright delusional about the value of their used jet skis and many have been listed for months. But I’ve found this one pretty close to me and I’m going to look at it tomorrow. I’m wondering what people think about the price and the description and what kind of things I should specifically look for and what questions to ask. Thanks for your input.

Just picked this beaut up last night for a project over the winter. Previous owner stated the shaft seal was leaking. Ski has about 212 hours on it I plan on going through the entire thing, I’ve done a lot of research on the ultra 310 and have heard a lot of mixed feelings about them. I personally love kawi as a brand but would like to know other people’s experiences with this ski or maybe if there’s any shop owners out there who know this ski inside and out that could give a heads up on what to look for.
Hi all, I bought this yellow 701 superjet and don’t like the paint. I want to wrap it and do different mats. I was wondering if anyone has any tips to paint it all white or black so I can wrap it. I have never painted anything before so I’m unsure if this is out my range.
Hey guys, I need a rack. I was thinking of getting a Superrack but this thing is like $600. The other option is putting a crate with some strap on the back. I was also thinking of making one with PVC pipes, but not sure if I want to go through the hassle.
Has anyone else purchased off jet tech and it taken longer then their dispatch time? Sounds like they are a drop shipper? Although they say they have an AUS warehouse how does it take a week to even dispatch when the website is showing in stock and have haven’t purchased in a sale period. No response yet from email.
2005 Yamaha FX CRUISER HO; JF110DN 4-stroke Engine.
I checked the compression on my 4-stroke ski before putting it away for the winter.
I checked it "cold" and then again a few days later after idling on a flush hose for 15 minutes to run antifreeze into the engine.
The engine ran fine during the idle period, and sounded and ran "normal" for flush hose attached trailered ski. The plugs also all look essentially the same, not one is dry grey, or oil wet black.
On each test I got essentially the same results;
"Cold" engine (all in psi) 112/110/118/115
"Warm" engine; 112/110/112/112
The deviation between cylinders is minimal, but I'm curious if the numbers are low or tell me I should look at anything else?
