Question about Islam What was Saudi Arabia like before Islam?

As-salamu alaykum.

I have a question. What was Saudi Arabia like before Islam? I heard from the popular influencer Sneako that they were burying their daughters and doing other bad stuff before they discovered Islam.

Is any of that true and what was going on before they became a muslim country?

Question about Islam Why is it not recommended to Muslims, at least to my knowledge, to use saline solution with baking soda that's been made safe from germs and Naegleria (a brain-eating amoeba), when performing nasal irrigation as part of Wuduʾ?

General Discussion not being able to go to out-of-state colleges

hi guys, i’m a girl in her senior year who is hoping to attend a prestigious out-of-state college because i feel that the opportunities available in my state are more limited compared to those in other states. i genuinely want to put myself in an environment where i can grow academically, explore my interests, and build a stable future for myself.

i’ve been struggling with this situation because my parents and i have different perspectives on whether i should be allowed to attend college out of state. my dad is particularly firm about wanting me to stay in state, and whenever i try to discuss the possibility of leaving, the conversation can become emotional because he feels strongly about his decision. my mom generally agrees with him, so it’s been difficult for me to find a way to communicate my perspective and help them understand why this opportunity means so much to me. i love my parents and respect them, and i don’t want this disagreement to come across as me going against them. i just wish we could find a way to understand each other.

i’m a high-achieving student, and i’m confident that i can work toward earning scholarships to make college more affordable. i even asked whether they would reconsider if i received a full ride or a substantial scholarship that covered the cost, but they still weren’t comfortable with the idea. this has made me realize that their concerns go beyond finances, and i want to better understand what those concerns are and whether there’s a way to address them.

i genuinely try to be a good daughter, and i want my parents to feel confident in my ability to make responsible decisions. at the same time, it’s difficult seeing other students have the opportunity to attend universities across the country when i’m unsure whether i’ll be able to pursue the same experience. i also know other girls whose families have supported them in attending college elsewhere, which makes me wonder how i can help my own parents feel more comfortable with the idea.
my parents and sibling are the only family i have here, and having a family member move with me to another state isn’t a realistic option. i understand that my parents may have concerns about me living far from home, but i hope there’s a way to address those concerns without having to give up on the opportunities i’ve worked so hard to pursue.

i would really appreciate any advice on how to approach this situation. i don’t want to hurt my relationship with my parents or make them feel like i’m disregarding their wishes. i just want to find a way to have an honest conversation with them and hopefully reach a compromise. attending a good out-of-state college is something i care deeply about because i want to give myself the best possible opportunities for my future, and i’m hoping there’s a way to pursue that goal while maintaining my relationship with my family.

General Discussion Quran says Satan is an "open" enemy to man, muslims don't take it in literal sense.

What if the statement is to be taken as is in literal sense? Muslims think about satan (shaitan) as a hidden force, invisibly and sneakily making people go astray by whispering bad thoughts into people's minds.

What if shaitan also does things very openly and apparently. We know they can take human forms and live amongst humans. What if shaitan is openly helping evil organizations and evil people? With the current situation of the world and how seemingly good things are turning out to be bad, is it too far fetched that the ones planning these developments are not humans but shaitan?

Some or most days i get up to do maybe one prayer or two, and it isnt disbelief or depression or tiredness or anything that doesnt make me get up to pray, sometimes the reason is maybe i Don't want to pray 4 rakah or i just for some reason just cant get up for prayer and just sit there on my pc doing nonsense, mentally and spiritually i am a good believer, i really think so and i also seem to be physically just fine.

Seeking Support Will Allah take away my sitr if I keep repeating the same sin but sincerely repent every time?

Hello everyone, the title is sort of self explanatory, but I’ve been struggling with a certain sin I’ve been committing for a long time now. My sin is something that can lead me eventually to Zina if I keep prolonging it.

I have many many faults as a person, as does everyone, but I haven’t fell deep into a sin that can be classified as major all my life until now. Everytime I commit this sin, and I sort of come back to reality about what I did, my heart hurts thinking about how I disobeyed Allah, I ask for forgiveness, i sincerely repent every single time with the intention of never committing it again, I pray all my prayers and I make an oath to myself to never commit something like this again. I ask Allah to guide me, and to help me leave this sin, but I just find myself in this cycle where I repent, I repeat the action, and I repent again it’s this constant cycle of guilt and shame. I started thinking to myself till when? Till when will Allah continue to have sitr over me and protect me from disgrace. Till when will he keep forgiving me? And that thought by itself scares me, the thought of anyone finding out and Allah exposing me makes me incredibly scared, and I start thinking how much wrong I’ve done and how was I able to do all of that knowing Allah is watching?

I have taken action, and will continue to insh’Allah to stop myself from ever engaging in something like this again due to how scared and guilty I’ve become. But my question is will Allah forgive me this time? Will he conceal me and protect me from disgrace after I kept going back to the sin after I promised him and myself I won’t? My mind keeps telling me that this time I messed up, and this will be the time Allah will not have sitr over me anymore, and will punish me for it even if I’m repenting. I feel so lost and sad, I just feel so incredibly disappointed in myself and what I did. This isn’t what I ever imagined for myself and I don’t know what to do anymore.

Question about Islam Opinion on Validation of Prayer

If someone smokes cigarettes or charas (weed), does it also invalidate your prayer for 40 days and if someone dies, they go to hell.

I believe there were atleast 2 sahabis suffering from alcohol but the prophet said that they should not be kicked out of the community.

I know generally all sins are forgiven but did anyone ever get a fatwah or researched on this issue?

Question about Islam Sahih al-Bukhari and holy scripture

Hi Everyone! I am writing an essay on Islam, and I would love to know how highly regarded Sahih al-Bukhari is (compared to the Qur'an, for example). Is it regarded as holy scripture, or is it subject to human flaws? And what are some other Islamic texts? Thank you so much! ☺️

General Discussion "If all Abrahamic religions worship the same God, why are their beliefs about Paradise and Hell so different?"

if all Abrahamic religions believe in the same God, why does the quran place such heavy emphasis on the Day of Judgment (Qayamat) and what happens after death? If this is such a critical matter, why didn't Prophet Moses address it clearly in the Torah? Today, Jews have differing beliefs about the afterlife — everyone interprets it their own way. Since Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made it clear in the Quran, what could be the reason that earlier prophets didn't explicitly confirm the details of the Day of Judgment in their scriptures?"

General Discussion My brother who did not believe in God has become an orthodox Christian. In my heart I believe that it is the first step for him to come to Islam.

Would you say that I am wrong for that thought? Or is that a valid assumption. Because in my mind I always hoped and prayed that he would come to Allah (swt). Going from not believing in anything at all, to then believing in a god. He is only young at the moment, so he is still ultimately doing his re search. Please somebody tell me if that is the wrong thought to have. But Allah (swt) and Muhammad (saw) said to treat your family members and people of the book just as you would treat your Muslim brother.

General Discussion Can anyone tell me their experience on how their rizq changed after having kids?

I’m currently pregnant and unemployed and have been looking for a job for a while. I was so scared of having kids because I’m not financially stable and neither is my husband and he might loose his job in couple of months. I have also read the Hadith that don’t kill your kids for the fear of poverty. So I’m looking towards hearing any positive or any experience that has changed your life after having kids.

Question about Islam Decision to not marry and a fear of missing out

Salam

So i had something happen in my life that absolutely shattered my soul. I was trying to get married to someone with all good intentions. But the dunia made it so difficult that it had to end. The efforts i made are beyond anyone's imagination. I have no complaints to Allah, i know he has the best plan. I accept it.

The problem is that i got hurt so badly that now the idea of marriage gives me bad anxiety. It reminds me of everything i did and what i went through. And staying away from such thoughts or avoiding marriage keeps me at peace. So i made a decision not to marry.

I am quite religious and the thing that troubles me is that i will miss an important Sunnah. And maybe not reach Jannat ul Firdous. Does anyone know if i can still reach high ranks in Akhira?

Seeking Support I'm scared of losing a friend who means so much to me. Any advice or duas?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone.

I met a friend at university this year, and honestly, he's one of the most wonderful people I've ever met. I've found a kind of comfort and happiness in his company that I genuinely hope I'll get to experience for the rest of my life. I really hope our friendship lasts forever.

However, there's a problem that's been weighing heavily on my heart.

He had to repeat the academic year, and unfortunately, his chances of passing this year and moving on to the next one with me are relatively low. He also isn't putting in the amount of effort that would significantly improve his chances.

If he fails again, he'll have to return to his hometown, which means I'll probably never see him again.

The thought of losing someone I've grown so attached to, especially when our friendship is still so new, genuinely hurts. I know life goes on, and people come and go, but I really don't want this friendship to end like that.

As a Muslim, I believe that dua is one of the greatest things I can turn to right now. I want to sincerely ask Allah to make things easier for my friend, guide him toward putting in more effort, and allow us both to pass and continue our studies together next year without any problems.

So, I'd like to ask those of you who have experienced something similar:

- Are there any particular duas you used to make when you desperately wanted something to work out?

- Have you ever made dua to stay close to someone you cared about, and seen things work out in an unexpected way?

- Does the fact that my friend isn't particularly practicing as a Muslim affect the chances of my dua being answered for him? I'm asking this sincerely because I don't know whether his level of religious commitment has any bearing on this.

I know that Allah knows what's best for us, even when we can't understand it ourselves. Still, I really hope that we get to continue this journey together, and I'm holding on to that hope through dua.

I'd genuinely appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or authentic duas you could share with me.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan, and may Allah grant you all what is best for you. ❤️

Question about Islam Faith

Assalamu Aleykum,

Please read everything.

I’ve been having extreme struggles with my faith over the past few months. As a side note, I have diagnosed mental health issues, in case that’s relevant, and I come from a practicing Muslim household. I never had any problems with religion before, but lately, I feel like I’m being pulled from one side to the other.
I can’t pray without feeling bad afterwards. Whenever my father tells me something about Islamic history, I get annoyed, even though I used to love listening to him. I keep making dua for things to get better, but somehow, everything just keeps getting worse.
At first, I thought it was because of my mental health, but I’ve had my diagnosis for a long time, and I never experienced these issues before. My thoughts constantly drift towards shirk, and I genuinely can’t take it anymore.
Could it be possible that someone has done sihr on me? I can’t think of anyone who would wish something like that upon me, since I don’t know anyone who practices it, nor have I really done anything to anyone that would make them want to harm me like that.
Has anyone ever gone through something similar? I don’t want to lose my faith, but the harder I try to hold on to it, the worse everything seems to get.

General Discussion If you're having doubts, this may help

To believe in a creator you must first give yourself the chance to do so, by testing the belief that this world isn't in need of one.

The Quran appeals to this particular method repeatedly. It incessantly points to the outside world, telling you to consider it, and if it could've arisen out of nothingness at first, and that once it was there, whether out of the primordial universe, arisen you, without a creator.

Once this position is seriously considered, you start to be open to the possibility of a creator, you can't believe in a creator if you stubbornly insist on believing that the world isn't in need of one.

This why the book Mind and Cosmos by Thomas Nigel is an excellent read.

Doubt for me usually took the form of "what if I'm praying to a void". And the cure for it isn't to somehow become certain that a creator exists, but as a first step, certainty that the world is in need of an explanation, and that I don't have one!

Which is a very easy conclusion to arrive at.

Question about Islam Forgot to pay for something

Salam all,

I went to TK Maxx today and I bought some things and the cashier forgot to scan one of the items which was £15. When I got back and looked at my receipt i realised he didn't charge me for one of the things. He literally looked at the box and I thought he had scanned it but clearly not. Shall I go back and pay for it or just give £15 to charity. What is the proper islamic treatment for this?

Thanks

General Discussion Can I preform tayammum when I want to pray at uni?

Assalamu alaikum,

Lately, I’ve been wondering whether it’s permissible to perform tayammum instead of wudu while I’m at university, so I can pray my salah on time as a hijabi.

The problem is that the bathrooms there aren't always suitable for making wudu. Sometimes there's no water, sometimes they're dirty, and sometimes the doors are left wide open, allowing male students to see inside. As a hijabi, I don’t feel comfortable making wudu in those conditions.

I genuinely want to pray on time rather than delay all my salah until I get home, especially since I sometimes don't get back from university until around 7pm and I'm exhausted by then.

In these circumstances, would it be permissible for me to perform tayammum and pray at university instead of waiting until I get home? Or would I be required to find another way to perform wudu, even if the available facilities are unsuitable?

I'd really appreciate answers based on authentic Islamic sources or reliable scholarly opinions. Jazakum Allahu khayran.
