I’ve modded IPod 5 recently and it’s been amazing. But the sound of Sony Walkman is so much better and clearer. I don’t know if I should keep both because it seems excessive. Have you found that the IPod doesn’t sound as good some of other DAC? Do you still prefer IPod?

My partner gave me their old iPod Nano 3 after finding it in storage. 1615 songs on it. The battery is shot, so I'm getting that replaced, but I'm loving it. I had the first Gen shuffle and Touch 3 at one point. Went thrifting to find my ​childhood iHome and found the same model at my second thrift store stop. Lucky lucky! ​

Guys, I’ve imported a handful of music to my Music app on my Mac (running Tahoe 26.7.2), each one with its correct metadata and cover art.
However, after syncing all my music through Finder, every single one shows the same cover art (Michael Jackson’s Bad) despite the fact the files have their corresponding cover arts.
How can I fix this?

With some help from a friend, I finally finished building my custom iPod mini! I removed the original 30-pin port and replaced it with USB-C, added an iPhone 7 Taptic Engine, 256GB of flash storage, and a 700mAh 573040 battery. I love how it looks like a little sibling to my other modded iPod classic!

The left button on the modified click wheel is a bit less responsive, and I accidentally damaged the LCD during assembly, so I had to use a spare. I also had to remove the rubber padding around the LCD bezel, which makes me a little worried about its shock resistance.

Still, almlst everything works pretty well! It’s not quite 100% perfect, but I’d say it turned out about 90% the way I wanted. I’m really happy with the result!

7th gen iPod 120GB with master and dynamic mh40s. I have been daily driving this in highschool for the past 4 years and it has served me well.

So i got this dual microsd card hdd from aliexpress for my classic 5.5 gen and i keep getting the ipod with the sad face and the apple support url screen. I‘m not sure if i‘m putting it in the wrong way? I have been putting it in with the sd cards facing the logic board and thats when i get the apple support screen. Im not sure if i should flip the hdd because i dont want to possibly break the ribbon cable.

I also know the ribbon cable is fine because i put the original apple harddrive back in and it works, but i can‘t use the old one anymore because it won‘t fit in with the new battery. Anyone know how to fix this?

i have a ipod 5.5 gen, and sometimes the songs wont load or take several attempts in order for them to play. For example, with this song, it took 3 tries for it to play. I only play ALACS from this ipod and was wondering if it was the format of the songs or just my drive dying lol

Hi guys!! I need a little help as I'm having trouble finding anything online matching my description.

My iPod Touch (my first time turning it on, i bought it secondhand and its been stored away for some time) has this odd brown blotch. It doesn't change upon pressing at all. concerningly, the iPod seems to only heat up in that corner/general area when charging. I've decided to not charge it any longer for now just to get some opinions first. Practically died the moment I removed it from the charger. Any advice or input would be very helpful, thanks :)

I wanted to share a little passion project I’ve been working on that I think some of you might appreciate.

Backstory

In my main car (a 2017 Honda Odyssey), plugging my classic iPod in via a USB cable just works, the OEM unit reads it natively, lets you browse, and plays music seamlessly. However, in my secondary car, I upgraded the stock radio to a generic Chinese Android head unit. When I plugged my iPod in through the USB cable, nothing happened; it wouldn't initialize or play music the way the OEM unit did.

Since I couldn't find a clean solution to bridge that gap, I decided to code my own integration app: PodFS.

Current Status

It’s currently sitting at a super alpha release, but I'm stoked to share that it is actively working and I've been using it every single day in my car for a week now.

I know this is a super niche use case, specifically targeting folks who want to pair their classic iPod with a modern Android head unit, but I figured there are likely a few other hardware tinkerers here who would appreciate keeping their setup alive.

This seems to mainly be a problem with the songs that I have ripped from my cds to my Mac. I've tried reducing the volume of the songs manually through iTunes but even this doesn't work. When I do this my iPod just mutes the songs until I use the click wheel to increase the volume to a level at which they unmute and are just the same volume level as before. Hope I can get some help here thanks

Listen I'm pretty familiar with iPod modding and all this. Recently upgraded my iPod bigger battery Iflash solo. The process to get my music to work properly has been insane. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or generally everyone has this hard of time. My problems are metadata not matching and splitting albums into different ones. Biggest one I feel is audio levels are all over the place and also songs on playlist just skipping but will play fine on its own. Someone please help!

I bought this battery as well as the iFlash. This battery is no longer holding a charge so I wanted to try a different website and battery. I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with either of these batteries and setup. I'm worried that it might not fit in the housing. I'm considering either one of these batteries, Option 1 [Option 2]

My iPod is a 5th gen A1136 30 gb with the thin back, everything else on the iPod is unaltered. I would really appreciate any tips or suggestions.
