Painting Eugène Louis Boudin - Deauville
Yesterday we visited The Courtauld Gallery in London, UK where we looked at a great collection of art pieces. The 3rd floor was focusing on Impressionism and had an amazing collection of paintings from: Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
One of our favourites from the collection was the painting from Boudin.
I can highly recommend visiting the gallery if you are in London. (It's a pay to play gallery, but it's worth it once you ticked off all the free ones)

Documentary Van Gogh: The Story Behind the Paintings — A Documentary That Made Me Look at His Work Differently
I recently watched a documentary about Vincent van Gogh that left me thinking about his life, his artistic choices, and how much his personal struggles influence the way we interpret his paintings today.
It made me wonder how differently we might view his work if we separated the art itself from the tragic story of the artist.
I'd be interested to hear what people in this community think. Do you believe Van Gogh's paintings are often appreciated on their own artistic merits, or has his life story become inseparable from his reputation?

Painting Late Fall, River, H2O, 2026
One of my nephews asked his mother, whether God made the trees and when she said yes, he remarked, “he did a good job.“ As far as I can see, man has never come close to making anything as beautiful as most of what’s on the planet and that’s the only evidence I can find of a need for God. Trees.

Painting Interrupted Reading, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, 1870
Located at the Chicago Art Institute. The subject is the Italian art model Agostina Segatori, who is also featured in Van Gogh’s Agostina Segatori in Le Tambourin (1887). Segatori owned Le Tambourin, a Parisian restaurant frequented by Impressionists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Émile Bernard, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
