Duo-Facts Best Fingerprint Method
Saw this online, tried it, and it works beautifully. Basically, I registered the lowest part of my right index finger. That part of the finger sits naturally when you go to swipe up at the phone.
This resolves a major issue I had where I couldn’t easily just look at my phone to glance through notifications on the lock screen. Now, it’s never been easier (shown at the end of the video).
This is arguably better than Face ID. The speed is up there, and the phone doesn’t need to be facing directly at you to unlock, this motion can be done as soon as you pick up the phone.

Nice one! I just use my Apple Watch to unlock and I’ve actually forgotten it uses Touch ID 😅

Another fast way that I discovered is that all you need to do is push the button with your registered finger and swipe up instead of resting your finger on it

I always said Touch ID was superior, but no one wanted to believe me. Then YOU come along and post this MASTERPIECE and all of a sudden everyone is on board!

I don’t understand why the fingerprint scanner has such a long hold on it. Back when the iPhone 6s came out and all iPhone since the finger print scanner has been super fast and instant. You just press it and it’s on the Home Screen. Did they add in the hold period on the duo to not have that issue where you can’t see the lock screen because it’s too fast?

Yes, that’s exactly why, and you can also turn off the hold feature in the settings if you don’t want it. Look for “Rest to open”

I did this when I first unboxed mine, but ended up removing it because I kept accidentally authorizing things just by holding the phone normally.

unfortunately that isn't a great solution for anyone with smaller hands, less adept coordination, or anyone who just doesn't want to toss their phone around to open it. this looks like a surefire way to drop your phone a lot for many people. face ID is just much nicer.

Surely this isn’t as safe as an actual fingerprint? I don’t know anything about forensic science but I’d wager this part of your hand is much more likely to be similar to someone else’s

I don’t like having to pick up my phone and point it at my face every time to unlock it. Touch ID worked just laying on the desk or in a stand.

for once, I feel blessed as a lefty. My index finger naturally sits on the lock button when I pick the phone up, before purchase I worried about being able to unlock it, but honestly it's so comfy for a (large handed) lefty

Doesn't it open automatically if you have an Apple watch too (and you use that setting)?
