Annoucements/Mod Post 📢 [PROMOTION] GIGABYTE Intel Motherboards + Free AAA Game

Planning an Intel-based PC build?

There's currently a GIGABYTE promotion that gives you a pretty nice bonus for choosing a qualifying GIGABYTE Intel Z890 or B860 motherboard.

Buy an eligible motherboard from Amazon.com during the promotional period and you can claim one free AAA PC game through the Intel Software Advantage Program.

And you get to choose your game:

  • Dying Light: The Beast
  • HITMAN 3
  • Sid Meier's Civilization VII

So the question is:

Which one are you picking?

The motherboard side of the deal covers all GIGABYTE Z890 and B860 motherboards, giving builders plenty of options depending on how they're putting their system together.

GIGABYTE's Z890 and B860 boards are built around Intel Core Ultra desktop processors and include features aimed at both gaming and enthusiast builds, including:

  • DDR5 memory support
  • PCIe 5.0 for graphics and NVMe storage
  • Advanced thermal designs
  • Premium power delivery
  • Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5GbE on select models
  • EZ-Latch features designed to make DIY installation easier

The promotion runs July 1 through December 31, 2026, so there's still plenty of time for anyone planning a new build.

The redemption process is:

1. Purchase an eligible GIGABYTE Z890 or B860 motherboard from Amazon.com.

2. Obtain your Intel Master Key.

3. Sign in or create an Intel Digital Hub account and redeem the key.

4. Choose one of the three available games.

5. Download and play.

One game per qualifying purchase, with additional eligibility and redemption requirements applying. Learn More HERE: https://www.aorus.com/en-us/explore/events/intel-unlock-one-game-2026

But let's make this a PC-building discussion:

If you were building a new Intel gaming PC today, which game would you choose as your freebie — and what CPU/GPU would you pair with the motherboard?

Six-month update: Thermal gel leakage on my Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti AORUS Master continues

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

Six months ago, I posted about thermal gel leaking from my Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti AORUS Master.

https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabyte/s/U68xAgN5Rv

I’m following up with photographic documentation showing that the leakage has continued.

For context, this card replaced my RTX 5070 Ti Windforce, which I had returned because of the same issue. The replacement AORUS Master came from a newer production batch, manufactured in November 2025, and was supposedly no longer affected. It has been installed vertically in my system since February 26, 2026.

As the comparison photos show, thermal gel has continued to migrate out of its intended position and accumulate near the PCIe connector. This documents an ongoing issue on my replacement card despite it coming from a later production batch.

My experience cannot establish how widespread the problem is, but it does show that newer production dates alone are no guarantee against it.

Having already returned one card for this exact reason, encountering the same problem on a premium replacement is deeply frustrating. At this price, I expect a cooling solution that remains in place without requiring regular inspections for escaping gel.

Has anyone received a concrete response from Gigabyte about a lasting fix, particularly for vertically mounted cards from later batches?

I’ve run into an issue: to enable Secure Boot, I need to disable CSM. However, once I disable it, I can no longer access the BIOS. I’ve tried both holding the Shift key while initiating a restart and using a console command, but nothing works. My BIOS version is F2 Z370P D3

USB C Front Header Connection Issue

I saw someone else on this subreddit have this issue. Two months ago I switched over to AM5 and started using the b650 gaming x ax v2 motherboard. I am using a Fractal Torrent which has a USB C port. However, it has not worked ever since I replaced my old parts. I only need 1 USB C port (and the one on the back works fine) however it bothers me regardless. Help!

Discussion 💬 Update: RTX 5080 Thermal Gel Issue – RMA Went Surprisingly Smoothly!

Hey everyone, I wanted to give you all a quick update on my situation.

I went ahead and reported the issue and sent my RTX 5080 in for an RMA through the retailer. The whole process was handled fairly quickly and, honestly, without any hassle. In the end, I received a brand-new Gigabyte AORUS RTX 5080 MASTER as a replacement, with no arguments or unnecessary back-and-forth.

My original card was apparently from an earlier production batch, from before Gigabyte adjusted the amount of thermal gel used on these cards. The replacement appears to be from a much later production batch, so hopefully this one will be fine in the long run.

I also wanted to say a genuine thank you to everyone who supported me on my original post, shared their own experiences, or reassured me that I wasn't imagining things. I know this issue had already been discussed online, and not everyone reacted in the most constructive way. But a lot of you were helpful, understanding, and encouraging, and I really appreciated that.

I'm still disappointed that this was an issue in the first place, especially with a premium GPU like the AORUS MASTER. But I'm glad the RMA was straightforward and that I now have a brand-new replacement.

Thanks again to everyone who had my back! Hopefully, this card will serve me well for years to come. 🤞

Discussion 💬 What are the chances Gigabyte honors an RMA for a 5090?

Basically the card is overheating and shutting down and with current events and places like Microcenter and Newegg no longer selling them directly and companies no longer able to order the GB202 die and memory together to make more, do you think they have a stockpile set aside or will they just automatically refund you?

Also for anyone who has went through the RMA process, do they return your card in worse condition than it went in for by not handling it with care?

GIGABYTE G5 KF5 (2023) won't turn on after closing the lid

Hi everyone, I’m looking for help troubleshooting my GIGABYTE G5 KF5 (2023) with an RTX 4060.
This is the third time in the last four weeks that my laptop has failed to turn on after the lid was accidentally closed during operation. The first two times, I somehow managed to get it working again within about an hour. This time, it has been almost a full day and it still won’t turn on.

When I press the power button, its LED flashes once, but the fans don’t spin. The screen stays black and there’s no POST. The power indicators light up when the charger is connected.

Over the last four weeks, the lid has accidentally been closed three times during normal operation. Each time, the same issue occurred afterward.
During the first two incidents, I managed to get the laptop running again within about an hour. I’m not sure what helped. I randomly plugged and unplugged the charger, held the power button, and tried turning it on again. After it started working, it ran flawlessly for several days or weeks.

Before the latest incident, the laptop had been working normally all day and was connected to AC power overnight. I believe I shut it down properly, but I may have closed the lid before the shutdown had fully completed. I’m not entirely sure. In the morning, I found that it wouldn’t turn on. The room temperature was around 19°C.

Current symptoms:
*The indicator LEDs turn on when the charger is connected.
*The AC power indicator stays solid amber.
*The battery indicator was initially green. After disconnecting the charger for about 30 minutes and reconnecting it, it turned amber, then later green again.
*The power button LED flashes once when pressed.
*The fans don’t spin at all.
*The screen remains black; there’s no POST.
*I tested all USB ports. When I press the power button, connected USB devices briefly receive power or start charging.

I’m running BIOS F12, released in July 2025.

What I’ve tried:

*Disconnected the internal main battery and tried starting on AC power only. No change.
*Disconnected the CMOS battery. No change.
*Disconnected both the main battery and charger, then held the power button for 60 seconds. No change.
*Reconnected both batteries and the charger and tried again. Same result.

I’m suspicious of the lid sensor or embedded controller (EC) because, on several previous occasions, the laptop shut down or entered a similar unresponsive state when an iPad case with magnets touched the lower-right area of the laptop.

Could the Hall-effect lid sensor be incorrectly detecting the lid position, or could the EC be getting stuck? Is it possible that closing the lid triggers a fault that prevents the laptop from completing its startup sequence, as if it still thinks the lid is closed?

I realize it could also be a problem with the EC, BIOS, power circuitry, or motherboard.

The laptop is about four years old. I replaced the thermal paste and both fans about six months ago.
Has anyone experienced something similar with the GIGABYTE G5 KF? Is there a way to test or disable the lid sensor at the BIOS or EC level? Could a stuck EC cause these symptoms, with no fans spinning and no POST?

If I manage to get it running again, what should I do first to diagnose or prevent this from happening again?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Gigabyte B850 Gaming X WIFI6E - VGA LED error

I upgraded my PC from a 7700k with a 4070 Super to a Ryzen 7 9800x3D and the 4070Super.

Specs are:
Ryzen 9800x3D with a Gigabyte B850M Gaming X WIFI6E,
32GB Patriot Viper Venom DDR5-6000 CL30
and 2 m.2 SSD ́s.

After I had assembled everything I wanted to start and there the motherboard got stuck on the VGA Error LED after the RAM was initiated and no picture appears.

BIOS updated to newest version 11e.

CMOS Reset no change,

with no GPU and trying to boot with the iGPU no change,

other cable with monitor no change,

other GPU also no change.

Tried to boot with only on Stick of RAM.

I disassemble everything again and put everything back together but I'm slowly running out of ideas.

New Motherboard for testing is already on its way.

Unlocking FIVR/undervolt options on Gigabyte G6X 9KG (i7-13650HX)?

Hello everyone,

I’m using a Gigabyte G6X 9KG laptop with an i7-13650HX. My previous laptop had an i7-10750H, and I was able to unlock the FIVR options there by editing some BIOS config values. I’m wondering if there’s a similar method for this one.

The BIOS settings seem to be locked, or at least I couldn’t find the option anywhere.

BIOS: INSYDE Corp. FD11, 6/24/2025

Is there any way to unlock the FIVR options so I can undervolt this CPU? Any advice, tools, or guides would be appreciated.

Specs:

  • Laptop: Gigabyte G6X 9KG
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-13650HX

Thanks in advance!

I keep getting this error, I'm trying to update a H610m H V3 DDR4 rev. 1.0, everything is right, I have formatted the pendrive to FAT32, the motherboard is correct, the rev. number is correct but it doesn't work.
