Fringe Connections: https://www.fringeconnections.com/episode?episode=101

NOTE: Please cover all spoiler comments with spoiler tags! There may be first time watchers; don't ruin their acid trip!!!

EDIT: I decided I would do two episodes a week instead of one (it would take two years at this rate to finish the rewatch). So it is every Saturday & Sunday @ 5pm EDT.

So you’ve just watched Season 2 Episode 11 and came looking for answers

This episode was originally meant to be aired in season 1, but for some reason was never used. They decided to air it in season 2 instead, which meant it does not fit chronologically in the story as aired.

Hopefully this will help reduce the number of posts we get asking the same question over and over. I am happy to see this sub surge in popularity again, but for such limited number of posts already, the increase of “what is happening with s2e11?” really take a sizable chunk of the subreddit. I will try my best to remove any new repeats of this question as they come, and hope this will be the definitive post regarding it.

General Discussion First time watcher.

I didn't catch this show when it aired. Too busy, family was young, etc.

Fringe was recently recommended in another show sub. So I dove in.

Wow. The writing/story of Fringe is something I cannot even perceive. Who has this in their mind? Who can think about all of this? It's so foreign to how my mind creates things. My mind works in a totally different way. It doesn't produce fiction like this. I can't make believe these story lines, plot twists, characters..... Professionals. Artists.

Then there is the actors. Wow. Anna Torv is amazing, playing two similar but believingly different persons. John Noble? Fuck me....these actors became their characters. What a performance.

One of the best TV series I have ever watched. And I'm not a fan of Major network TV series....there aren't that many.

I'm on S4 so no spoilers! (BTW, I'm not even a Sci-fi person which is why I'm so impressed by this show in so many ways)

General Discussion The ACTING

I'm on S3 E17, where Olivia gets possessed by William Bell, and I just can't get over how outstanding the acting is in this show overall! Even some of the guest actors have been phenomenal!! I can't believe I haven't heard of this show earlier, on the acting prowess demonstrated by dozens of actors in this show, Fringe deserves so much more popularity and praise than it has now!

I don't know, I just can't get over how well characters are portrayed, how actors can play two different but identical characters with such similarities but also such small nuanced differences, it's honestly crazy

Spoiler! This show has so many incredibly stupid decisions and illogical choices being made, but its decent so far i suppose

You kind of have to turn your brain off to watch this... im nearly done with season 2 and ive lost count now of how many dumb moments have passed by that u just have to turn utlr brain off to ignore lol.

The amount of times olivia and walter has been in danger and despite how important they are somehow do not get a protective detail assigned to them is kinda ridiculouse.

The fact that olivia declined to have protection assigned to her after the failed shapeshifter attack, despite knowing there are other shapeshifters around is just so stupid. And their reasoning was "well since this shapeshifter failed to kill me, it means im safe even though there are others around...

And when they knew the shapeshifters blood had mercury why didnt they test people, why didnt they test or suspect charlie despite him being the last person in contact with the one at the hospital..

And why does olivia so mindlessly allow her sister and nephew stay at her house despite knowing how much at risk her life is at and therefore how much danger she is exposing them to.

I could be here all day talking about these dumb moments lol, but the show overall is pretty good which is what makes these dumb moments so cringeworthy to witness because the writing in other parts of the show is so good

Season 2 Broyles Appreciation Post

What a great show: On my first rewatch... The characters are all great and John Noble is such a treat, The writing is consistently well crafted and suspenseful. I'm just stricken by how awesome Broyles is: So stern and authoritative, yet so kind. caring and supportive. Lance Reddick is one of my new faves.

General Discussion They were planning for the future story lines in the first season.

Just re-watching the series now. Noticed in episode 15 where Peter is showing a GiJoe to the boy, he mentions how he thought the scar of the GiJoe was on the other side of the face. In the alternate reality was he right?

Amen goes for an earlier episode after Walter gets out of St Francis where he is talking to Olivia about reading his file and how not to say anything to Peter. Would the file be mentioning how Peter died?

I thought the storyline was most entertaining. Cast was awesome, and it was great to see Leonard Nimoy, wish there was more of him in the series. Highly recommended to anyone whose into: Drama, Science Fiction or Paranormal. Wish there was more than just 100 episodes

🏆Walter Bishop Hall of Fame🏆 Just had a realisation of something that would’ve been less alienating for Jasika Nicole

What if he got everyone’s name wrong, except for Peter? Like EVERYONE, even Gene. That would’ve been so funny, they could’ve made it into a web series comedy about it or something.

Like the thing with the business cards. Is it made up TV nonsense or are things like that genuinely recommended?

General Discussion Connection between Observers and Shapeshifters (Must know series ending) Spoiler

I have enjoyed some other discussions here lately. I love how active this fandom still is.

Okay, on the topic of Observers, what really was racking through my brain as I was seeing the last season, that never really got addressed but seemed like a logical thought especially with previous developments...is that the shapeshifter tech seems like the oddly primitive form of Observer tech.

When we leave off our crew pre-Season 5, the shapeshifters are already these hybrids. You don't really know the full humanity and full shapeshifting at this point because there has been some evolution even in the show as we have seen them come up again and again.

Then when Peter goes on his anti Observer kick in the last season, it is SO OBVIOUSLY an echo to when he goes on his anti Shapeshifter kick earlier on. The modality, the download and integration of info, even some of the method. It just screamed like there was some sort of connection, that somehow the technology that Walter and Bell developed had made some leaps toward humans making their own shifting technology that ended up in the Observers.

That's where I thought there was some irony with Walter being the one to help Michael and go back to convince scientists...because it seemed to lay the groundwork that he created the possibility of the Observer future and was atoning for it. (another paradox like the machine, but reverse direction somewhat)

They did not really get to explore the thought on the show (yes, yes, we all wish there was more). But what are your thoughts? Do you think that was an intentional parallel? What do you think would have developed regarding that thread if they continued? Do you think it's something that Walter suspects/knows that he just doesn't bring up to the others?

Just love the community's thoughts and analysis. I personally love gushing and contemplating about very good shows...and Fringe is peak ofc.

Question box set

has anyone gotten bored enough to notice the box set itself.. just the cases of the dvds have little "clues" that seem to go with the lighting of the seasons? this could have been asked already so I do apologize.. also the way Walter's eye flickers sometimes... or how the little "dust particles" even hold meaning. (I also realize this is back when.. people tried to put meaning and symbolism into their work.. because that was how they envisioned it. not rolling over and losing part of your VISION because tv man says it's not necessary to plot progression)

anyways.

as curious as a particle being observed < 3

General Discussion On the fringe connections website it says that Walter only ever once….

Called Astrid by her actual name but a few years ago I actually counted them all and he says her name 45 times throughout the show. And yes, I’m @angespeed. Even when I google how many times he says it, it comes up with my old username’s comment on how many times he says it. Did you think it was just once or did you ever count them? I went through the episodes and the scripts to make sure I got the right information.

General Discussion John Noble

This man ... so wonderful ... what an actor! Walter (as opposed to Walternate) is such an endearing, beautiful character and he makes the whole series worth watching! (Even though the series is worth watching in and of itself!) And, yes, Walternate is good, if only as a foil for Walter.

Season 1 Where can I find decent English subtitles?

I like to watch my shows with subtitles on but each one I tried for this show doesn't work and is delayed. Do you have some website where I can download newer, synced subtitles?

Thank you.

Season 5 Do we know the state of the AU during the events of Season 5? Spoiler

Or maybe even pre-S5?

AU being Alternate Universe. Was trying to avoid a spoiler in the title.

Let me just lead with saying that I am rewatching the series right now, currently on S5E2. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure the alternate universe isnt mentioned in season 5

I understand why it happened, but it really bums me out that the bridge to the lternate niverse was severed in S4.

Do we know how they fared with the incursion of The Observers? Did the Observers even bother with the Alternate Universe?

If not.. could it possibly just be business as usual?

On the other hand, if so.. how do we think things went for them?

I dunno how many times I have rewatched. Less times than supernatural and the Xfiles but more times than Bones lol.

But this rewatch much less time has passed between viewing.

As an autist, this is one of my favourite comfort shows and I will probably be watching it forever.

Season 1 Rewatching!

Hello! I just saw that the show was on Hulu, so I am rewatching the show for the first time since it aired! It’s been on my “re-watch” list for a while, but it wasn’t streaming anywhere, that I could remember. Has it been on Hulu long? I saw that it was now also on Amazon Prime & PlutoTV!

Peter gives some snarky comment to Olivia right after they meet for the first time (in the show) & I giggle & think, “Don’t talk to your future wife & mother of your child that way!” 🤣
