I want some guidance

For the past year, I've worked as the sole computer operator at a degree college. While I've gained valuable experience, I'm now seeking a more flexible career path. I have a few of the skills like I am quite good in MS Office, and quite decent in Python and HTML, and I'm eager to learn and improve.

I'm unsure where to begin with freelancing and apologize if this question has been asked frequently. I haven't understood previous explanations, so I'd greatly appreciate any guidance on how to start freelancing. Remember that I have no clue how freelancing works.

PS - I'm also a song writer(I know this doesn't count but I've been doing this for years now. I write hindi songs, mostly rap)

Thanks :)

I am building a website for a college fest OC

The website will include the following features:
User registration system
Three role-based access control (RBAC) roles
Animated frontend UI
Separate tables and management systems for each of the 20+ events
Payment gateway integration
Firebase Authentication
Expected network traffic of approximately 2,000 users
Considering the scope and complexity of these features, what would be a reasonable price to quote for developing this website?

Sales Appointment Setter

We Whiten is one of the fastest-growing teeth whitening companies in the United States, with locations across multiple states and a rapidly expanding team.

We're hiring high-performing Smile Advisors to help turn interested leads into booked appointments at our whitening studios across the U.S. This is not a traditional customer service or call center role. This is a sales position.

Your primary responsibility is simple: Connect with leads, build trust, create excitement, and get people booked.

You'll spend the majority of your day making outbound calls to people who have expressed interest in our services, following up with potential clients, and helping them take the next step toward their smile goals.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people, is naturally persuasive, and thrives in an environment where performance is measured.

What You'll Do

  • Make high-volume outbound calls to new and existing leads across the U.S.
  • Have approximately 300+ outbound call attempts per day, depending on lead volume and campaign needs
  • Turn conversations into booked appointments through strong communication and sales skills
  • Build rapport quickly and create excitement about the We Whiten experience
  • Ask great questions to understand what potential clients are looking for
  • Confidently handle objections around pricing, timing, and commitment
  • Follow up with leads through phone calls and text messages
  • Re-engage leads who previously showed interest but never booked
  • Follow up with canceled and no-show appointments to recover opportunities
  • Maintain accurate notes and appointment information in our CRM
  • Take ownership of your performance and continuously improve your results
  • Work closely with leadership and participate in ongoing sales coaching

What We're Looking For
You don't need years of traditional call center experience. We're looking for someone who is:

  • Extremely comfortable talking to people
  • Fluent or near-fluent in English with excellent verbal communication skills
  • Confident, energetic, and naturally engaging over the phone
  • Persuasive without sounding pushy or scripted
  • Quick-thinking and comfortable handling objections
  • Naturally curious and able to ask strong follow-up questions
  • Competitive and motivated by hitting and exceeding goals
  • Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls every day
  • Resilient and able to handle rejection without losing momentum
  • Highly coachable and willing to implement feedback immediately
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple conversations and follow-ups
  • Someone who takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do

Experience in outbound sales, appointment setting, lead conversion, inside sales, or high-volume phone sales is a major advantage.

We especially value candidates who have worked in performance-driven sales environments where their results were tracked daily.

How We Measure Success

We care about resultsβ€”not how many hours you spend staring at your computer.
Your performance will be measured through metrics such as:
Outbound Calls β†’ Leads Contacted β†’ Appointments Booked β†’ Appointments Serviced

We look at:

  • Outbound call volume and productivity
  • Appointments booked per hour worked
  • Percentage of booked appointments that actually show up and receive service
  • Quality of conversations and objection handling
  • Follow-up consistency
  • Attendance, reliability, and coachability

We don't want someone who simply makes 100 calls and checks a box. We want someone who knows how to turn conversations into actual customers. The best Smile Advisors don't just book appointments. They book appointments that turn into real business.

Compensation
$400–$600 USD per week + Performance Incentives
Performance incentives may be tied to appointments booked, appointments serviced, lead conversion, and overall sales performance.

Apply and tell us briefly why you think you'd be great at turning interested leads into booked appointments.

Please send CV/resume to [hiring@wewhiten.com](mailto:hiring@wewhiten.com) and [isabel@wewhiten.com](mailto:isabel@wewhiten.com), and submit a 1-minute Loom video telling us about yourself and your work experience.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Starting to freelance as an amateur Reverse Engineer β€” looking for advice, tips and resources

Hey everyone!

I'm a cybersecurity student who's been spending time learning reverse engineering, malware analysis, x86-64 assembly, and low-level system internals. I've worked through hands-on labs and CTF challenges, and now I want to take the next step: trying to freelance as an amateur reverse engineer while continuing to learn and improve.

I'm not claiming to be an expert yet. My goal is to build real-world experience, develop a portfolio, learn how professional engagements work, and hopefully start earning along the way.

I'd love to hear from people who've been through this journey:

- Getting started: Where can a beginner realistically find their first reverse engineering gigs?

- Finding clients: Are platforms like Upwork and Fiverr worth trying, or are there better places to find clients in this niche?

- Skills to focus on: Should I concentrate on malware analysis, binary analysis, debugging, firmware, or something else to become commercially useful?

- Portfolio: What kind of projects or write-ups help establish credibility when you don't have professional experience?

- Pricing: How do you approach pricing your first few gigs without underselling yourself or overpromising?

- Mistakes to avoid: What do you wish you'd known before taking your first freelance project?

I'm also curious whether it's better to start with small, well-defined tasks or collaborate with more experienced researchers before taking on independent work.

Any advice, resources, personal experiences, or even harsh realities are welcome. I'd rather understand what the journey actually looks like than go in with unrealistic expectations.

Thanks in advance!

I am looking for a freelance packaging designer.

I am looking for a freelance packaging designer. I am working with multiple brands for development and one company has been asking for this for a long time as he is comfortable with us. I tried agencies but cost related issues I have faced plus frequent edits of indian clients is a problem that I understand. So I want to keep things transparent and looking for a designer who has good packaging and printing knowledge. If things work we can work for longer duration.

If you are flexible and comfortable with these things, share your portfolio or past work and your rate per packaging design in dm.

[HIRING] Short-Form Video Editor + Motion Graphics | Personal Brand Content | Remote | β‚±5,000–₱15,000/month

Most editors trim. We're looking for the ones who direct.

DENT. is an identity-led creative consultancy. We build personal brands for founders who refuse to look like everyone else. Every cut that leaves our studio carries that standard, and we need editors who can hold it.

We don't hire hands. We hire taste.

**What you'll cut**

- Talking-head content for founders and business owners

- Vertical 9:16 for Instagram Reels and TikTok

- Raw footage in, scroll-stopping story out

**What we look for in an edit**

- **Hook:** the first 3 seconds stop the scroll

- **Narrative:** your cuts build a story with a setup, tension and payoff, not just trimmed talking

- **Pacing:** every cut earns its place. No dead air.

- **Captions & type:** clean, readable, intentional. Zero typos.

- **Sound:** voice, music and effects balanced. Nothing accidental.

- **Taste:** premium and recognizable, never template-looking

- **Range:** every speaker sounds like themselves. You don't cut everyone the same way.

**Software**

- Preferred: **DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or Premiere Pro**

- No pre-made templates. No one-click AI edits. We can tell.

**Big plus: motion graphics**

If you can build custom text animation, kinetic type, graphic overlays or animated B-roll (After Effects, Fusion, Motion, whatever you use), show us. Editors who can do both move up faster.

**You're a fit if**

- You have a short-form portfolio, ideally talking-head

- You follow a brief to the letter and hit deadlines without being chased

- You care about why a cut works, not just that it's done

**You're not a fit if**

- You treat every video like a template

- You need reminders to deliver

- You're here for a quick gig, not to build something

**Pay**

β‚±5,000–₱15,000/month, based on your skill level, output, and motion graphics ability. Fully remote.

**What you get**

- Consistent work with real founders and real brands

- Direct creative feedback that sharpens your eye

- Room to grow with the team as DENT. scales

**How to apply**

  1. DM me here on Reddit with your portfolio, your IG handle, and one sentence on the best edit you've ever made and why it works

  2. Shortlisted editors get our Editor Trial: pick 2 raw clips, cut them, submit within 72 hours

  3. Top editors get onboarded onto the team

The trial is unpaid and your edits won't be published or used commercially.

DM me on Reddit for more details.

Giving away my QA freelancing playbook for free like this (No strings attached)

I’ve been freelancing for about 7 years and it took me tooo long to figure out where clients actually come from and I've seen many of you feel the same way so here’s everything that worked for me. I'm in the QA side of freelancing so everything will be around that only, some relevant niches are android app dev, app testing, etc.

the doc contains where to find clients, how to approach them, what to say, what not to say, how to price, how to close without selling and will also send an untouched lead list to any 10 of you (all different) randomly picked from comments.

Not posting the whole thing here, comment and I’ll send you the pdf.

Looking for side hustle tasks

Hey everyone, I'm a Computer Science student trying to pick up small online side tasks (like helping people with AI workflows, script debugging, or data organization) to cover expenses while studying.

For those who started out taking on small tech tasks, where do you usually find people who need quick help without spending hours pitching on saturated gig sites? Any advice on finding casual, short-term client work would be appreciated!

Looking for someone to collaborate with on a website design business

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for someone who would be interested in collaborating with me on my website design business.

The idea is simple: you handle outreach, and I'll handle building the websites.

I'll provide the list of leads, and we can work together to reach potential clients and start conversations.

I'm looking for a genuine business collaboration, not hiring someone for a fixed salary. We can agree on a commission or revenue-sharing arrangement for each client we bring in, with the terms discussed upfront.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me. I'd love to discuss how we could work together!

How do you manage your work load and time?

I am a new freelancer seamstress who focuses on clothing and gear repair. I also have a couple side contract jobs. If there are other repair sewists or repair specialists, how do you balance the work load of the larger sum contracts while maintaining your day to day repair work?

Need a Content writer, no AI

I'm looking for a freelance content writer for ongoing work.

The main thing is that you write it yourself, without AI, not even for outlines or tidying up. I check everything before paying.

If you're interested, DM me a couple of things you've written

2 days in β€” 60 DMs, 30 follow-ups, 8 replies. Found a cold DM script that works, but now I'm drowning in design work. Can I actually do this solo?

Hey everyone,

I just started outreach two days ago and here's where I'm at:

Β· 60 DMs sent

Β· 30 follow ups

Β· 8 replies

I genuinely feel like I've landed on a cold DM script that works and I'm actually targeting the right audience. The response rate feels unreal for day two.

But here's my problem:

I promised every account that replied two designs each, and now I'm completely stuck on where to pull ideas from. I'm stressed out trying to deliver on what I promised.

If two days of work looks like this... can I realistically keep this up on my own?

Would love to hear from anyone who's been in this spot β€” how do you handle the design workload when outreach starts working faster than you expected? Any systems, templates, or boundaries you wish you'd set earlier?

I also use AI sometimes and I have multiple accounts in case I run out of credits

Thanks in advance.

Experienced pros who moved into freelancing β€” what's the moment that finally got you your first client?

Curious about this, especially from people who came from a solid career before freelancing (not fresh out of school) β€” what was the actual turning point that got you your first real client?

I'm a few months into freelancing on the side (construction scheduling / project controls, 10+ years in the industry), and it's a strange feeling β€” plenty of real experience, zero platform history. The usual advice is "just get reviews," but some of what I do isn't exactly a $20 starter gig people take a chance on.

So: what actually worked for you? A referral, a stupidly low first price, a specific platform, cold outreach, something else entirely? And looking back β€” anything you'd tell yourself to do differently at month one?

Looking for a quick $40 Gig

Hello! I'm urgently looking to earn $40 to help pay my bills.

I'm open to taking on any small offer you have. I'm sorry if I sound desperate, but I'm currently going through a difficult financial situation and could really use some help.

If you have any tasks you need assistance with, no matter how small, please feel free to reach out. I'm willing to put in the effort, learn new things, and do my best to get the job done.

Any opportunity would mean a lot to me right now. Thank you so much for your time and understanding! πŸ™
