Newbie Issue Importing to Project Library
Hi everybody, so here’s the situation: I’m working on a documentary and I need to get all 10 TB of footage (transcoded) into Final Cut Pro before we ship it to the editor.
I was reviewing some of the footage with the producer and put one file, let’s call it 18.mp4, directly into the storyline. I made some Marks on it as notes but notice it didn’t appear in the project library. I went back to import and now when I attempt to move all of the files, 18.mp4 is still missing- everything else imports just fine. I try it again and the process just blinks. I’m also having this issue with two out of three of my audio files… I want to get ahead of this solution before I run into more issues with 20,000 remaining clips, photos, etc. Should I just restart on a new project? Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.
Edit: I remembered that I backed up all the footage to a QNAP NAS. Went to the folder and tried to move the .mp4 from there into the project event, it did the same thing where it just runs a Backup in the background tasks, blinks and doesn’t add the file.
I’m able to right click the file in the Storyline and select “Reveal in Browser” to display it in the Events: however this doesn’t let me transcode it, and it has a big red line on the top of the file, which I don’t know what it means. Will do more research but feel free to chime in if you know what could be going wrong.
Edit 2: i did something to find a “Proxy Media” and “High Quality Media” folder, fortunately 18.mp4 is in there along with the rest of my footage! Not sure how I did it, but I’ll try to be a little more careful. Post is mostly resolved now 😮💨
Edit 3: in response to the big red line in Edit 1, I found out that it was a “rejected” rating which I was able to remove by selecting the clips and pressing U
