The Colts are trading three-time Pro Bowl DL DeForest Buckner to the 49ers for a 2027 fourth-round pick, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports. Buckner came to San Francisco as the No. 7 overall pick in the 2016. A decade later, he’s back.

Chris Godwin is the first player in NFL history to have 5+ fantasy points all first 7 weeks, but never crack double digits.

He has been within 5-9.9 PPR points in all 7 weeks of the fantasy season so far (more specifically between 5.5-9.1). The closest comparison here is WR Emmanuel Sanders in 2012 who had a bye week 4 but otherwise did this in his first 7 games, with a higher high of 9.5, and a lower low of 5.2. He broke the streak in week 9 (his 8th week) with a 10 point game off 2 catches, 20 yards and a TD. Also close is TE Jeremy Shockey in his last season who almost hit this special target, but hit 10 PPR points exactly in week 6, overachiever.

No one else has been able to achieve this (including byes, or 10 point barely misses).

Is Chris Godwin the greatest high floor, low ceiling player of all time??

Player Discussion Detroit is building red-zone plays around Jamo's speed now

Thumbnail prideofdetroit.com

“Designed for Jameson Williams

Below is my favorite schemed play of the game. Jameson Williams is a nightmare for defensive coordinators because he can take the top off the defense at any moment with his speed. But in the red zone, that vertical threat is mitigated by spacing. Here, offensive coordinator Drew Petzing does an awesome job designing a play for Williams using his speed horizontally.

Below, Williams is set in motion presnap into the box behind the offensive line. At the snap, he continues horizontally into the flat. His speed is already hard to keep up with, but when he is hidden and mixed with the traffic and movement of the play action fake, it is a near impossible assignment for the defense.

The other critical element of the play design is Amon-Ra St. Brown lining up at the wing slot, and inserting inside the B-gap with the run-action. Most safeties and/or linebackers have keys that read this action as a run principle resulting in the first steps of the play side linebacker and deep safety to be downhill at the B-gap. From there, it’s an easy pitch and catch for Jared Goff.”

Mod Post [Mod Note] Our subreddit and the war on bots.

Earlier this season, we implemented a new Rule 6, which allows for users to post about AI-generated or vibe-coded tools within the confines of our general rules regarding self-promotion, but strictly prohibits the use of AI for generating your own written content (posts, comments) here.

Over the course of this season, we have recognized with dismay—as have you—a lot of weird bot activity on our subreddit. Not just AI-generated posts, but comments in the index threads purporting to offer advice while getting basic things wrong about who's playing for which team in 2026. Clearly, they're trying to use our subreddit as a training ground for future AI-fueled something something bad.

So when you see something suspicious, stomp it like a spotted lanterfly. Tap that three-dot button under the comment, and report the comment or post as breaking our sub's rules, then select "No Generative AI Content." That'll flag it for the mods to review, and from there we can take all appropriate action to keep the sub well-functioning and keep this sub devoted to half-formed and often-wrong analysis only from flawed human beings.

We can win the war on bots if everyone does their part. Because otherwise the robots will take over, and we're not going to let that happen.

18 Players To Add Before Week 8

Hey, everyone!

Below are the 18 players I believe are most worth adding on the waiver wire this week (featuring some deeper upside stashes), as well as a few charts I made breaking down WR, RB, and TE utilization.

I'm most excited about Makai Lemon and Jonah Coleman - those are the two I'm prioritizing this week.

P.S - to join the 2,100+ fantasy managers who receive my weekly writeups directly in their inboxes for free, enter your email here.

As always, here are some of the terms you need to know for today’s writeup:

TPRR - Targets Per Route Run

WOPR - (Weighted Opportunity Rating) - Calculated by combining a pass-catcher’s air yards share and target share. A metric created by Josh Hermsmeyer.

Rostership % - Percentage of Yahoo leagues player is rostered in. I write about players rostered in 40% or fewer of Yahoo leagues, AKA guys who are widely available.

Recommended FAAB - FAAB range recommendation based on FAABLab, which is an awesome crowd-sourced FAAB estimation tool. This is just a starting point - you’ll need to tweak your FAAB bids based on roster needs and leaguemate tendencies.

Note: I went back and watched every play in every game for each player I wrote about below. While I’m a data nerd at heart, I’ve found that watching the film allows me to pick up on certain sequences, momentum, and honestly, vibes, that the data can’t capture. This helps to provide a complete picture of a player’s performance rather than simply leaning on box score or even advanced stats alone.

All data in this post comes from FantasyPoints Data unless otherwise noted.

Without further ado...

WIDE RECEIVERS

Makai Lemon (37% rostered)

I was big on Lemon coming into the season, and he was one of my most-drafted WRs in best ball drafts this summer (on 21% of my teams). It was a frustrating start to the year, as it felt like every Lemon target was a screen with no blocking that got blown up behind the line of scrimmage for a ~4 yard loss. That’s why Lemon’s rostership finally fell below 40% and I’m able to write about him at last.

In Week 7, however, we saw signs of life. With DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks out, Lemon led the team with season/career-highs in targets (8), receptions (7), and receiving yards (67), all while scoring his first TD as a pro.

So far, Lemon is being used mostly in a lower-aDOT role, but it’s encouraging that he showed chemistry with Tanner McKee, who is slated to start at quarterback for the rest of the season with Hurts out. In a lost season for Philadelphia, it makes sense that they should continue to see what they have in their first round receiver.

Recommended FAAB: 7-12%. I personally want to make sure I get Lemon - he is a legit first round WR who projects better in PPR leagues. Could see Philly putting more on his plate in the second half of the season.

Caleb Douglas (10% rostered)

In his first game back since injuring his ankle in week two, Douglas scored a season/career-high 21.0 fantasy points on just TWO catches. He turned those two grabs into 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

His first TD was a 7-yard grab on 3rd and goal where Douglas did a nice job of getting open and getting his feet down in the back of the end zone.

His second score, however, was freaking sick. He caught a simple 6-yard out route near the sideline, cut upfield and turned on the jets, caught a block from Malik Washington, and took it 63 yards to the house. This really should’ve only been a 12-15 yard gain, but due to an egregious missed tackle and some excellent footwork by Douglas to stay in bounds, this one went for six.

Now, given the offensive environment, I'm not expecting Douglas to be a reliable fantasy contributor - Miami ranks 30th in passing yards per game (162.0) and dead last in dropback rate over expected (-11%), according to FantasyLife.

However, the rookie has made some big plays in just under three games of NFL action. I like the idea of adding him to the end of my bench and seeing where things go.

Recommended FAAB: 6-11%. Douglas is exciting, but his volume outlook isn’t particularly strong on and he’s on a bad passing offense. Don’t go crazy here.

Ja’Kobi Lane (17% rostered)

Lane had a quiet 5-3-25-0 performance in Week 7, but he continues to show strong hands and reliability. Two of his three catches came on 3rd downs in the 2nd quarter, both of which he secured for first downs. The second one was particularly impressive as Lane went to the ground to bring in the low-thrown ball from Tyler Huntley.

In the 3rd quarter, Lane had an awesome grab on a comeback route with a defender all over him. Huntley later missed an open Lane downfield for what would’ve been a 20+ yard chunk gain.

Most importantly, however, Lane logged a season/career-high 65.0% route share WITH Rashod Bateman back in the lineup (due to injury, Bateman only played 29.8% of snaps in Week 6). It was Devontez Walker, not Lane, who saw his role reduced from a 63.2% route share without Bateman in Week 6 to 20.0% in Week 7.

I really want to see how Lane performs when Lamar Jackson returns to the lineup, which seems like it could (should?) be as early as this week against the Bills. This offense looked unstoppable with Lamar at the helm, and Lane has been impressive as a big-bodied, sure-handed receiver.

Recommended FAAB: 4-6%. Strikes me as a nice under-the-radar stash who could prove to be fantasy-viable when Lamar returns.

Antonio Williams (9% rostered)

With the Commanders on bye in Week 7, Williams probably flew under the radar on the waiver wire last week.

He had an overall quiet game in Week 6 on Monday Night Football (4-3-50), but I once again thought he looked really solid on his opportunities.

He didn’t get going until the 4th quarter, but had three awesome 3rd down conversions, the first of which was a fantastic 23 yard catch and run on a comeback route.

His final 3rd down grab was an awesome catch across the middle for 17 yards, which got the Commanders in striking distance with just 30 seconds left in the game. Washington wasn’t able to finish the job, but Williams proved to be a reliable target during their 4th quarter comeback effort.

More relevant to Williams’ outlook, however, is that Terry McLaurin is out for the season with a patellar tendon. The rookie should see more opportunities as a result.

Recommended FAAB: 4-7%

Travis Hunter (9% rostered)

Like Williams, the Jags were on bye in Week 7, so I’m sharing below what I wrote about him last week. Unlike Williams, however, Hunter has a less direct path to playing significant snaps at WR.

I may catch some flak for this call, as Travis Hunter is such a polarizing player in the fantasy space. However, I’m willing to say it - I think he’s worth stashing. He looked freaking awesome as a receiver in Week 6.

Which brings me to my next point. We know the talent has never been the issue, it’s just been his offensive snaps. He played just 9 snaps and ran only 7 routes in Week 6, and those were SEASON-HIGHS as he’s mostly been a cornerback for the Jags in 2026. But he was able to turn those limited looks into a 4-4-59-1 performance.

More importantly, though, I think he’s worth stashing with the potential that his role could grow coming out of the bye week. I thought this social media post after the Week 6 game from NFL on Prime Insider James Palmer was interesting:

“The conversations I had with the Jags at the start of the season ... the usage and the role of Travis Hunter is going to be very different at the end of the year compared to the early part of the season. It feels like we are starting to see the progression they're predicting.”

On top of that, Brian Thomas Jr. was benched for the second half of that game after he followed a brutal drop in the first quarter with a poor attempt at a slightly less catchable ball before halftime. BTJ’s name has been thrown around for what feels like forever now as a potential trade candidate.

Regardless of whether BTJ gets traded or not, I highly doubt he is going to be playing any sort of prominent role in this offense moving forward, which opens up the door for Hunter to earn some more opportunities as a receiver.

He’s merely a stash and I’m not promising anything here, but man, he looked freaking awesome in Week 6. He would be really fun to roster if he’s able to carve out a more substantial role on what is already a great offense.

Recommended FAAB: 1-3%.

Malachi Fields (4% rostered)

Alright, this one is for my sickos in the deepest of leagues, and is an especially deep cut as the Giants are headed on bye in Week 8. You can wait a week to make this move if you’d like.

Fields has been on my radar all year as he’s looked really good when given the opportunity - those opportunities just haven’t come all that frequently.

In Week 7, however, the rookie posted career/season-highs in receptions (4) and receiving yards (83). His 16.0% target share since J.J. McCarthy took over is 3rd on the team, just behind Isaiah Likely (17.3%).

He had an incredible 47-yard chunk play in the first quarter in which he got open near the sideline 15 yards downfield, shed a tackle while staying inbounds, and then picked up an extra 30 yards with his legs, literally dragging Kamari Lassiter along with him for the final 10.

In the third, he caught a beautiful ball from McCarthy on a corner route for 20 yards. On 3rd & 9 in the fourth, McCarthy connected with Fields for a clutch 14-yard conversion that showed nice chemistry between the two.

Long story short, Fields has flashed throughout the season and McCarthy has actually looked pretty solid himself through two games as a Giant. If you have the bench space over the next couple weeks and want an upside rookie to stash, you could do worse than taking a stab at Fields, who could benefit from a post-bye rookie bump.

Recommended FAAB: 1-3%

RUNNING BACKS

Jonah Coleman (35% rostered)

Hopefully, you were able to add Coleman for cheap when I wrote about him as an add last week before he was activated off IR. If you didn't - make sure to subscribe to my newsletter (free!)

He’s worth spending some FAAB on this week, as he looked really solid on his opportunities both on the ground and through the air while leading Denver’s backfield in carries (9) in Week 7. He turned those 9 totes into a nice 54-yard rushing performance.

Coleman looked good as a pass-catcher on a pair of checkdowns for 1st downs in the first quarter, and he had a sweet block to help secure a 1st down on a Bo Nix scramble in the third. The highlight of his game for me was a run in the 4th, where Coleman was pretty much stuffed up the middle before he turned on the burners and bounced it outside for a 15-yard gain.

I think the rookie looks really promising and could continue to see his role grow while J.K. Dobbins (3.37 yards per carry on the season) continues to struggle.

Recommended FAAB: 10-20%. I’m fine spending up for Coleman, he looks better than Dobbins IMO and it’s hard to find waiver wire RBs with immediate paths to a real role.

Seth McGowan (8% rostered)

McGowan hasn’t necessarily flashed to me so far, but he strikes me as a powerful between the tackles runner. He had an impressive 14-yard run in the 3rd quarter where he broke through to the second level, and overall looked solid while mixing in throughout the game.

More importantly, however, McGowan logged a season-high 34.4% designed carry share to Jonathan Taylor’s season-low 56.3%. The Colts already dealt guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks today, so McGowan is worth stashing as the clear next man up were JT to be traded as well.

Recommended FAAB: 4-8%. Fun stash based on a potential JT trade.

Dylan Sampson (8% rostered)

In his first action of the season due to missing time with a knee injury, Sampson logged a 20.7% designed carry share and an 8.6% target share, operating as the receiving back complement to Quinshon Judkins. He looked pretty good, too, turning his 6 carries into 45 yards and catching all 3 targets for 32 receiving yards.

On a 3rd & 4 in the third quarter, Sampson looked explosive, taking a screen pass 22 yards. He again showcased his speed on a 19-yard scamper on a pitch along the sideline in the 4th.

Sampson could offer some standalone value given his role in the passing game and is worth consideration off the waiver wire due to the state of the running back position.

Recommended FAAB: 2-4%

TIGHT ENDS

Mason Taylor (0% rostered)

Admittedly, I’m not the biggest Mason Taylor guy as I am a huge Kenyon Sadiq fan. I have been begging for Sadiq to get more opportunities, and it seems as though Mason Taylor just keeps on blocking his path.

However, after Taylor’s Week 7 performance (6-5-62-2), it’s time for me to acknowledge that he himself is deserving of our consideration on the waiver wire this week. Taylor posted a career-high 25.5 fantasy points on Sunday, and has seen a 20.0% target share in each of the past two games.

Against the Dolphins this week, Taylor absolutely mossed his defender two separate times for a pair of genuinely sick touchdowns. I didn’t really know Taylor had that in him. He followed up the second TD by bringing in the 2-pt. conversion as well.

On top of the two sweet TDs, Taylor had a nice 20-yard reception along the sideline in the third as well as a clutch 6-yard grab to convert on a 4th and 1.

I love Kenyon Sadiq and still expect him to emerge throughout the season, but for the time being, Mason Taylor has proven to be deserving of his role.

Recommended FAAB: 3-5%

Chig Okonkwo (17% rostered)

As I mentioned above with Antonio Williams, the Commanders were on bye for Week 7, so Chig may have been overlooked on your league’s waiver wire last week.

Okonkwo put up a season-high 13.9 fantasy points in Week 6, going 7-69 on a team-high 7 targets. Per Next Gen Stats, that was Chig’s most catches and yards in a game since late in the 2024 season.

I’m not sure what the ceiling is here for Chig, but with Terry McLaurin out for the season, his target outlook has certainly improved. He’s worth an add for TE-needy teams.

Recommended FAAB: 5-7%

Terrance Ferguson (15% rostered)

With Davante Adams out for the foreseeable future with a hamstring injury, the Rams leaned on their tight ends in Week 7, leading the league in TE target percentage (48.3%), per TruMedia.

TFerg is eligible to return from IR in Week 8, but it sounds like he may need some more time to recover. Ferguson was described by beat reporters this summer as the Rams’ de facto WR3, and he looked awesome in his 9-6-54-1 performance in Week 2. I think he’s worth stashing for when he’s healthy given the upside.

If he’s able to return to the lineup soon, Ferguson should see plenty of opportunities with Adams out, especially considering the Rams already lead the league in 13 personnel usage (31.0%, per TruMedia).

Recommended FAAB: 3-5%

Player Discussion Bengals D/ST are near set-and-forget for the rest of the season.

• Upvotes

The Cincinnati Bengals D/ST is a top waiver add this week against the Tennessee Titans. If you picked them up, already roster them, or still have the chance to add them, they are worth serious consideration.

There’s always some variance with D/STs throughout the season, but the Bengals could offer one of the safest floors at the position. They have the potential to be a near set-and-forget option moving forward.

The Weekly Eye Test Report: Who passed and failed the eye test in week 7?

This is a weekly post every Tuesday where we talk about the unquantifiable stories behind a player’s actual performance that aren’t always shown in the postgame write-ups or the highlight reels.

Did a player put up a great score as a fluke but not look great on the field? Did they put up a terrible stat line but look good when given the chance? Who was purely the beneficiary of an unusual game script? Who was uncharacteristically written out of this week’s score book by factors beyond their control? Who is fading, who is rising? Discuss the players you watched, and ask about those you didn’t.

The stat line winners and losers are in, but now it‘s film room time. For those who watched the games: Who passed and failed your eye test week 7?

Buy, Hold, Sell, Drop: Week 8

How it works: parent comments the name of a player they want feedback on. People respond to your comment with either Buy/Sell/Hold. Try to Ctrl/Cmd + F to find a player before posting a player name.

• Buy- you think a players value will go up compared to trade market price currently

• Hold- you think a players value will hold steady

• Sell- you think a players value will go down but is worth trading away right now

• Drop- you think this player is no longer worth owning

Reminder many people use buy and hold interchangeably. If you think a player is generally undervalued then he’s a buy not a hold. If a players value looks steady and valued correctly then he’s a hold not a buy/sell. Looking forward to helping each other out in this thread!
