Any news about Giornale Restaurant?

Giornale was one of my favorite restaurants! It’s been almost a year since the fire, and I’m wondering if there’s any news about them reopening. Does anyone know if they’re planning to come back?

Alvast heel erg bedankt! 🌸

Looking for a serious Taekwondo club, BJJ, or Kickboxing in Eindhoven

I recently moved to Eindhoven and I'm really looking to get back into martial arts training specifically Taekwondo, which is my main background.

To give a bit of background:

I am a 1st Dan Taekwondo Black Belt with a competitive background including international medals. Because of that, I'm used to serious, structured, high-intensity training sessions rather than casual recreational fitness classes. I'm really eager to get back on the mat and push myself physically and mentally.

My current situation:

My Dutch is still very basic (A1), so I am looking for places where English is spoken and communication is smooth.

I've tried reaching out to a few local Taekwondo clubs by email, but unfortunately, I received no replies at all.

Because of this, I'm trying to figure out the best path forward and would love to hear what people think about a few options:

Taekwondo: Does anyone know of a serious, responsive club in or around Eindhoven that welcomes internationals?

Kickboxing: Since Eindhoven/Brabant has a huge striking culture, would this be a smooth transition for someone with a Taekwondo background? Any gym recommendations with strong adult focused/serious classes?

BJJ / Grappling: I'm also open to starting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu completely from scratch if it's a solid, disciplined environment with good English communication. How is the BJJ scene here for expats?

Any tips, gym recommendations, or personal experiences with these martial arts in the area would be hugely appreciated.

Also, I am open to consider any other martial art.

Thanks!

Physical Media Exchange @ Lab-1

Post image
72 Upvotes

Hallo daar!

Do you have at your home physical media that you don't use anymore? Things like cassette tapes, books, DVDs, vinyl records, Laserdiscs, etc etc.

We would like to exchange! So the idea is that we have a couple of tables set with our own stuff to trade for other stuff.

So no money exchanges via Tikkie, cash, and so on.

I contacted Lab-1 a couple of weeks ago, and they are more than fine to welcome us on Saturdays and on Sundays until 14.30 hrs, because every Sunday there's board game meetings at 15.00.

On Saturdays it's possible to exchange during the whole day.

All you and I have to sort out is a date. So, do you have physical media that you don't use anymore, or that it doesn't fit in your home anymore, and you would like to see if there is some other stuff that you may find interesting?

It's also possible to donate, if you're not interested in trading.

Here are the dates that fit us (my girlfriend and I) the best for now:

- Saturday 7 November

- Sunday 8 November

- Sunday 15 November

- Saturday 21 November

- Sunday 22 November

We will most likely be bringing in (comic)books (both English and Dutch), and DVDs. Maybe some vinyl records as well.

Let's see for one date, and if it's a success, we can later on look for other dates. Maybe other means of trading as well.

Any Singaporeans in Eindhoven ?

Just wondering if there's any other Singaporeans here! My wife ( Singaporean) and I (international dutchie) just moved here in the summer and we're hoping to connect with some others who have lived in/experience with Singapore or South East Asia.

Could be peeps from Thailand or Malaysia as well!

Lmk!

Getting Rid of Furniture?

Where / how can I get rid of furniture?

I'm moving out of my current room soon and I have a small couch and mattress left from the previous tenant that I need to get rid of as I don't plan to take these along with me.

I've been trying to sell these for a while now but I've been getting no bites. I don't want to just throw them away because they're still in perfectly good condition so I'd rather donate them somewhere.

Does anyone know where I can do so? I'm quite desperate to be rid of them.

Padel beginner zoekt groepje

Hoi allemaal!

Hello all, as the title says, if you have visited or participated in dutch design week this week, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the event as a whole. What exhibits did you go to? What did you enjoy the most so far? Would you say the ticket is worth it?

Cheers!
