So in 2023 we went to this elderly run thrift store that's local, and mom said why not get the first and second Dresden Files book. So, despite there being 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, and 10, I grabbed 1 and 2. Next trip to that same thrift store, I found Death Masks, Dead Beat (broken spine so I taped it and the cover on the back was damaged so I used cardboard), Proven Guilty, and White Night. So I had 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9.

Last week Tuesday, we went there to shop for Halloween costumes we can make ourselves (I got stuff to be Ted Mosby from HIMYM) and i thought "well ig no more Dresden Files. Thats alright--- wait, is that Grave Peril?" This was around the time i damn well nearly forgot i was gonna look for DF books. Also got Alex Rider Skeleton Key, another series i literally only find in thrift stores. Same with twilight.

they had 4 5 7 8 9 10 of Alex Rider at this thrift store with blue stripes over the near top and a bee in a blue and white circle. I got 4 5. Tuesday the thrift store i went to, i found book 3. Twilight i found books 2 3 4 at the thrift store i found Alex Rider originally but got 2 (mom denies ever liking Twilight or convincing me into getting the books 😭) and i found the rest of the series magically at the old person run thrift store.

I haven't gotten a Alex Rider book since I was 13 years old and I'm 19. Haven't had a Dresden Files book since I turned 15. That's how long it was since I last seen books of either series.

Why the hell is it i can only find Dresden Files books in thrift stores?! For a dollar each?! Yeah I can go to Amazon for box set 1, which includes 1 2 3 4 5 6, but I'd only need 4 and 6 and get duplicates of 1-3/5. Yes I can get box set 2 which is 7-12. But I got 7 8 9. So I think I would might get 10-17. Yeah I'd need 4, 6, 10, 11, and 12, but idk. Should I just jump the gun this Christmas? I said I was determined to find the books in the wild cuz i literally only ever heard of this series because of my thrift store but finding only Grave Peril and not even Blood Rites and Summer Knight kinda made me lose confidence in finding them, and I don't wanna be 25 when I finish the series.

Besides Rudolph surviving and not becoming Shagnasty's chew toy, what would be an ending that ruins the series? For me it would be Harry getting rid of magic and making it a mundane world.
