Crush Was he checking me out, and has anyone experienced something similar?

I (21F) have a close male friend (30M), and something happened recently that I'm still trying to make sense of.

I went to approach him to a gathering and the very first seconds while we were talking, he looked me up and down (face - waist - knees) before looking back up and repeating it yet again! It wasn't a quick glance or a subtle, fleeting look. It was a very noticeable, repeated scan of my appearance and particularly to certain parts of my body. Not "look quick and return to her face" type of look. Each glance had a significant duration more than just a fleeting stare.

What made it even more confusing was that it almost seemed like he wanted me to notice him looking. He didn't appear to be making much of an effort to hide it, and he also seemed to struggle a little to get his words out as he began speaking before i got to say a word to strike up a conversation.

After the "suspicious" stares, while we were talking, he seemed unable to look me in the eyes for more than 3 seconds straight. He would look away, left or right, and back to my face only to repeat that. And the thing is, it was his first time acting this nervous. He always looks me in the eyes and can maintain eye contact when we're chatting. But today something shifted.

I'm curious about two things:

  1. Would you interpret the repeated, deliberate up-and-down glances as him checking me out?

  2. Has anyone experienced someone looking at them this way, particularly when it seemed like the person wanted them to notice?

I'm not trying to conclude that he has feelings for me ofc. Only he knows about that and time will tell.

I'm interested in whether this kind of behaviour sounds like checking someone out (i think im not being delusional lol), and what other people's experiences have been with similar situations.

Edit: word corrections

Dating Is my co-worker just being friendly and affectionate, or flirting?

For context we were at a work drinks, everyone went home and we stayed on together. We walked through the city talking about life at 3am. He gestured me to link his arm while walking, and kept placing his hand gently across my front protectively at crossings etc. we sat on the concrete at a service station yapping and he kissed me on the crown of my head mid conversation while we were kinda huddled beside each other.

I know he has sisters, and he’s very comfortable expressing his emotions.. so it could just be his personality. But I’m wondering are these subtle queues that he’s interested in me, or is he just being affectionate?

Workplace Guy keeps looking at me

I just started a new job as a Christmas casual last Monday. There was a guy that caught my attention who a permanent. I didn’t think much of it just thought he was cute. We got paired up on my second day. We didn’t really talk much and I didn’t catch his name. He only really talked to guide me through the process and the job so I didn’t strike a convo because I didn’t think he wanted to talk to me.

From then to now I’ve been catching him looking/staring at me. We make eye contact a lot but haven’t talked since last Tuesday and I still don’t know his name. He is very reserved. Sticks to himself. Idk. I wanna introduce myself but at the same time I feel like he doesn’t wanna talk to me.

Analysis Request Reserved guy gets me confused

There’s this shy, reserved guy I’ve known for a few months. He works in a different department, so we are not coworkers.

Yesterday we briefly greeted each other as we were leaving work and I was walking with a male colleague he doesn’t know, while he headed towards a bus stop. A few minutes later, his bus passed us, and I noticed him getting off further ahead.

Here’s the odd part: normally, passengers getting off at that stop walk sideways, perpendicular to the road, towards the nearby station.
Instead, he walked for several metres in the direction we were coming from, with his whole body facing towards us, before making a roughly 90-degree turn and heading towards the station!
There was nobody obstructing his way, and the detour seemed completely unnecessary.
I could clearly see his face, so I’m certain about the direction he was facing.
I found it rather funny because he could potentially have spotted us from the bus beforehand but I can’t be certain about it
Why did He did that?

Also, today, I bumped into him but He ignored me and didn’t say hello back. This left me confused. It breaks the routine of always saying hello to each other when we cross paths.
___
Some context:
I work in a male dominated field and I am usually quite sociable. Me and this guy attended a course together. After some interactions initiated by me, there were times where I caught him staring at me when I wasn’t looking and He instantly looked away. Weeks later, his close friend was also observing me with curiosity when they were together, until the day He introduced himself and striked up a conversation with me. He already knew my name, revealing me that his friend had talked to him about me.

Crush I’m very confused hahah

So there’s this guy who I like who gets very happy to see me every time and we hang out in the same social circle, but he ignores me and talks to another girl most of the time, he is polite and answers my questions quickly but doesn’t talk to me freely.

He often compliments my clothes or has said that I look good, but he also makes fun of me sometimes.
When I try to make plans with him, he invites more people and never just hangs out with me.

He gets very bashful when talking to me or very happy or completely disconnected, and avoids eye contact, pretends not to listen when I say something in his vicinity but makes a remark after.

He talks in a sweet, happy tone to me mostly and is very gentle. Is he just nice or what is it? He constantly talks to another girl from the group though and hangs out with her comfortably. What does this all mean?

A coworker seemed interested in getting to know me, but now barely acknowledges me. What should I do?

I'm 25M, and there's a girl at my workplace I'm interested in getting to know. We work in different departments, so we don't interact that often, but we used to cross paths occasionally.
We had a few conversations that lasted around 5–7 minutes each. They were genuinely nice conversations, and we talked about things outside of work, like our backgrounds, school, and personal interests. The first conversations felt kind of special to me. We both seemed a little shy, and there was a certain awkwardness that felt mutual, if that makes sense.
At one point, I suggested that we have lunch together. She said something like "yeah, why not," and when I added that maybe we could do it that week, she said "we'll see."
Later, one day when she was coming back from the bathroom and saw me, she actually came over to talk to me and asked how my day was going. We had another nice conversation.
Then, on another occasion, she was going downstairs to get coffee and invited me to come with her. We went together and talked for a while. I was happy she initiated it herself because I felt like she genuinely wanted to get to know me better.
The next day, we spoke briefly again. A little later, I asked if she wanted to get coffee with me during lunch, but she said she was working and "maybe another time." She didn't suggest an alternative.
Since then, we haven't had a proper conversation in over two weeks. When we used to cross paths in the kitchen, she'd at least say hi, but now she sometimes doesn't acknowledge me at all. I haven't asked her again or pushed things.
What confuses me is the contrast between how things started and how they are now. She was the one who approached me to ask about my day, and she also invited me for coffee. Our conversations felt natural and nice, and I thought there might have been some mutual interest. Now, it feels like she's keeping her distance.
She's an intern at the company and will be leaving in mid-December for an exchange abroad, so there's a limited amount of time left to get to know her.
I'm trying to figure out whether I should approach her again if we naturally get a chance to talk, be direct about my interest, or simply leave things alone and let her make the next move.

Am I Overthinking? Is it casual?

Actually, this thing has been happening for almost a year. I don't want to assume things but I also don't want to "overlooked" something again.

For context, I've known this guy for years and he also knows me ofc. We barely exchange conversation during those years except when we were younger, lets say in our school decade ago we were around 9-10 years old back then.

Anyways, so our interactions around 2025 was something casual.. he'll ask me to join him in a specific schedule and because I'm free I'll join him. It's like a loop, everytime he gets the chance to ask me, he'll ask me.

Then around july, he became more persistent, really going as far as messaging me just because I left the choir prac too early. This month, he became more casual with me. He'll ask me some questions, random questions, ask me for some favours, tease me or other stuff

The thing is, my friends noticed all those things before I even tell them about my interactions with him.

The thing is, I told them "it's probably nothing" and "oh, he's just like that" but a friend of mine said something like "no he's not, he doesn't even ask me to join him or strike conversation with me. He's just like that with you" and more and more and more

But again, they might be just overthinking it or Idk, maybe I'm overlooking stuff again

gals checking out men together

Post image

ive seen this happen countless times where a girl and her friends will be together and a man passes by and one of them starts staring at him. usually her friends will join in or just ignore her.

so when your girl starts looking at a man, do you notice?? do you care? does it feel weird? or is it eh and normal? is it like a 'fun girl bonding moment' where you gals are just in sync looking at the same man?

How often does a reasonably attractive college age girl get hit on by guys her age?

Let's say like ~22ish. Not a supermodel but goes to the gym and looks pretty good. If a girl like that is single through college it cannot be because no guy has tried right? Let's say she lives in a college town and is at least somewhat social.

Curious because of his girl I met. Basically

Analysis Request Resting Bitch-Face

I start to believe I have an issue with my resting face. When I am relaxed and in a good mood (apparently only inside) this feeling is not reflected in my face. I myself always think I am making a neutral, even kind face if not interacting. However, I was now twice even told by a guy and some time later a girl to “smile” and “why so grumpy”. Took me each time totally by surprise because I did not at all feel in that mood and that this is the vibe I am sending out. Is anyone out there actively controlling their facial expression to kind of exaggerating what they are truly feeling. Because apparently, to look neutral I would have to actively smile like a mad man. Are there some live hacks to get better at this. Please don’t just tell me to smile more 😅

Workplace Is a woman really displaying interest when she stares you down even after being caught?

There’s a girl I’ve recently started noticing around my department at work. I’ve seen her on two separate days over the past two weeks, and both times, whenever I walked past her, she would turn her body toward me and stare at me the entire time. I had to walk past her multiple times, and she kept doing it. Even when I caught her staring or got close to her, she wouldn’t look away or smile.

I know staring can be a sign of attraction, but the fact that she doesn’t smile or look away makes it hard to read. The last time a girl acted this way toward me, I approached her and asked her out, only to get rejected. Because of that experience, I’m hesitant to approach this girl, but at the same time, I’m curious about what her behaviour means and whether I should try talking to her. I’m not sure how to interpret the situation.

Feedback Wanted My wife and I have a weird dilemma: people make eye contact with her, but not me

I’m a man in my 30’s. My wife is a very extroverted person. While I lean slightly introverted, over the years, I’ve become relatively extroverted myself. I’m often pretty good at talking in groups. I think I use eye contact well, hand gestures, and can help keep convos going well enough. But I noticed a pattern forming a few years ago: almost everyone makes 75% more eye contact with my wife than with me. I’ve noticed this pattern long enough to see specific behavior:

  1. With just one additional person, my wife will usually get 75%+ of the eye contact, and I’ll receive “a quick bounce” of eye contact every 30 or so seconds, which can feel like they’re just keeping me in outskirts of the conversation, but it often feels like not the main target of the conversation and can make me feel like a 3rd wheel.

  2. In larger groups, say 4-7, I notice an even stranger (honestly kinda hurtful) phenomenon. The speaker will be exchanging eye contact amongst the group, but will often bounce past me entirely to the person next to me. It can actually go from the person to my left to the person to my right. I feel skipped.

  3. I largely notice this in women. Most of our friends happen to be women. Considering I’m sometimes the only man in the group, and I tend to get “skipped” in eye contact, it can definitely feel like gender could have something to do with it, but I don’t have enough male friends to test this theory with.

Any idea what could be going on? My theories have been that maybe I have resting bitch face and it makes people uncomfortable. I also considered that maybe men just tend to make women uncomfortable. I guess what I don’t want to believe is that most people don’t really care much about me being in the conversation and would rather be talking to my wife. I’m really unsure

Discussion How can you say who a guy or people finds more attractive in public if your with your friends?

Wether in 2s, 3s, or more.

For example who people talks to when asking question, how they talk to you , their facial expression.

If with 2s will a guy talk to you more than your other friend because he is intimidated by your friend?

Feedback Wanted My own body language?

I have struggled with social anxiety and whatnot for my whole life and tend to have awkward interactions with people, which then leads to them avoiding me like the plague. (Mainly at work). But something I have noticed is that even if it is someone I have never seen or met before, they naturally just seem to avoid me or seem uncomfortable by my presence alone. I am curious as to why this is? Do I naturally give off weird vibes? Am I ugly? Why is it always me who has to not be awkward for the interaction to lead somewhere?

Trying to make eye contact with girls and this gym girl asked me for a spot?

I'm really bad socially lol but I'm trying. Recently I'm trying to make eye contact especially with girls which I've never been able to do. I noticed this cute girl at the gym today and she kept looking over I noticed and when she walked by I made eye contact and tried to smile and I noticed she held eye contact a few seconds. She walked by again and we did it again but then she approached me and asked me to help her with a drop set(removing weights and you do another set). So I helped her but that was kinda it she just said thanks and I didn't want to keep waiting as she was doing her final set so I left.

Do you think I should try and say hi to her next time or am I over thinking it? There were plenty of people so I don't know why she approached me..

Do men like kissing in the club or does it become boring?

I was at the club last night and I met this guy. We ended up kissing the whole night and honestly I was kind of over it. I like one kiss, but the constant kissing gets too much. Do men actually enjoy the kissing?

I think I’m still heartbroken about the last person I liked so I’m sure that numbs my enjoyment.

I think if he messaged, I wouldn’t be interested in seeing him again.

Do you actually like kissing girls in the club?

Discussion Can the right person bring someone out of their shell?

My fuckbuddy who’s very quiet both in person and over text told me he doesn’t have the energy to get to know people.

Can someone like this become more open with the right person or is this just something you have to accept? How do you get someone like this to talk more without forcing it?

Have you been in the same situation?

Crush Is the fact that he says “hello” with a resting bitch face a sign my crush doesn’t like me?

He’s a guy I know from work. I’ve caught him staring at me when he thought I wasn’t looking, only for him to quickly look away when I noticed, among other possible signs of attraction.
We talk occasionally, although I’m usually the one initiating conversations.

However, whenever we cross paths, he looks me straight in the eye and says hi with a completely straight face, sometimes even looking tired or mildly annoyed. No smile whatsoever.
The confusing part is that he does sometimes smile at me during conversations, even if it’s just a subtle smile.
Could this just be his natural expression, or should I take it as a sign that he’s not interested?
