First time spotting this bird! The photos aren’t the best quality because it was REALLY well hidden in the tree. I almost didn’t see it lol. Are they common? I’ve never seen one before! 😂

Went for a walk at my local park and was pleasantly surprised to find this night heron among the domesticated ducks and geese that call the pond home.

Mindo Ecuador 📍

North Pond is located in Lincoln Park on the north side of Chicago. I have seen this same bird at North Pond for a few weeks now, the brown band on the bird’s chest indicates it is a female. The Great Blue Heron has been on the pond all summer.
