First time spotting this bird! The photos aren’t the best quality because it was REALLY well hidden in the tree. I almost didn’t see it lol. Are they common? I’ve never seen one before! 😂

Went for a walk at my local park and was pleasantly surprised to find this night heron among the domesticated ducks and geese that call the pond home.

This was my first time seeing one these in real life...bower and all. 😄 It is amazing how the feathers go from pitch black to bright iridescent blue based on reflective angle.

Edit: ID CORRECTION: Western Cattle Egret

Super chill. Found near Zion National Park in Southwest Utah

North Pond is located in Lincoln Park on the north side of Chicago. I have seen this same bird at North Pond for a few weeks now, the brown band on the bird’s chest indicates it is a female. The Great Blue Heron has been on the pond all summer.

I wanna buy binoculars for birdwatching as a present for my dad but I don't really know what would be a good pick, some help would be great thanks!
