Help How can I contact Bell about "new build" Internet offers?

• Upvotes

Fibre recently installed in my condo building. Supposedly Bell was going to come to our building and present us some "very good" "new build" offers for Internet when the install was complete. Either that hasn't happened, or it wasn't announced very well and I missed it.

I need to switch my Internet service ASAP, so waiting around to see if/when they'll show up isn't an option.

Question HOW LONG SHOULD ONE HAVE TO WAIT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE AT BELL, ROGERS, OR TELUS?

1,173 Canadians have signed. Now I'm taking this to the CRTC and Parliament.

A quick update for anyone who's followed the telecom customer-service discussion here.

This started with my experience trying to get help from Rogers. A 45-minute hold ended with a disconnection. Another long wait ended with a dropped transfer. On my third attempt, the main switchboard told me, "We have too many calls today, please try again another day."

I started a Change.org petition to find out whether this was an isolated experience. The response suggests it isn't.

My post in this community generated significant discussion, and the campaign has now reached 1,173 signatures.

I've since launched an official House of Commons e-petition calling for enforceable telecom customer-service standards, including a maximum 10-minute telephone wait to reach a human representative.

House of Commons petition:
https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-7863

There's more happening, too. CBC Go Public is interviewing me this week, and on December 1 I'll be appearing before the CRTC as it considers Canada's consumer protection rules.

I'm not suggesting every problem can be solved in 10 minutes. I'm saying customers should be able to reach a human being who can start helping them.

If you've had similar experiences with Rogers, Bell, Telus or another provider, I'd be interested in hearing what happened.

And if you agree this needs to change, please consider signing the parliamentary petition. The goal is to turn widespread frustration into an enforceable standard, not just another round of complaints.

Rant TV Guide filtering does not work to see only subscribed channels and TV can’t manage PVR recordings.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with different tech support levels and they confirmed it won’t filter so my guide will only show channels I subscribe to. It also won’t let me delete PVR schedules or recordings. Funny enough, discovered in my own everything works in the app on phone and iPad. This makes no sense. So to know what to watch on TV, I have to use my devices as the guide then select the channel I want on the TV. I have to use my devices to delete PVR schedules and recordings.

Question Fiber optics question

Today the technician came to install the modem but found out our fiber optics line was broken and needed to lay a new line to the house, he said it will be done before winter, I wonder how long it usually takes to get it done?

Question Telus (Bell) purchased Reliance Security and does not support our hardware anymore. Suggestions?

I have a "DSC Powerseries alarm DSC PC1832", an old security system from the 2010s: https://www.geoarm.com/pc1832-dsc-powerseries-security-system.html?srsltid=AYCX9vKDzs0-TXf1FRZYiRkZQ8WXcYFO7OgeT-LJLkNjZBJh94ZOLQc2

It works perfectly and provides the level of security that gives my family peace of mind (I don't want to change).

The issue is it requires the landline to call authorities (when the alarm goes off and the pin is not entered). Everyone in our house has a cell phone though so we want to cancel the landline, however, again, the alarm requires it.

I looked online and you can install an add-on enabling cellular communication.

I called Bell and the problem is they only support their hardware. Their technicians won't do this, even if I bought the parts. They said just buy their own security hardware/subscription. My guess since they purchased Reliance Security they've been saying that to all acquired customers.

Anyone have a similar issue? What did you do?

Question Phone plan + eSim + Watch cellular

Currently with another carrier. Any ideas of what Bell charges? I know it can vary BUT just going by their Website, bring your own device is $60 per month. (https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Cell_phone_plans)

What isn't clear is how much the second line costs. It is an eSim. With Rogers for example, you have a plan for let's say $50/month, then an ADD-ON to the plan for $30 for the secondary number to the same device. I have had one agent tell me it is the cost of a whole new plan. I had another say $0.

Additionally, cellular for the watch. Seemingly $10?

Question Duo Screen Checkup

How are people’s screens doing so far that have ordered their devices through Bell? I haven't seen many complaints from many Canadian pages and I'm wondering if Canadian batches may have avoided the hinge QC issues.

I still haven't received my pre-order with bell but my purchased Duo from Apple hasn't shown any issues or weird bumps on the hinge 🤨

Help Noise in Line just after repair

We recently had our home phone not working for months, there was a fault wire connection. Less then a month later after repair noise in the line is returning; although after repair it was clear. I'm getting suspicious as to what may be going on where all the connections are where I live. The noise has increased alot in just a week.

How do you have clear landline, then in less then a month; noise returns. Unless someone is playing screwy with the wiring or know someone who knows how to screwy with wiring as a game.

Rant Bell callback

Post image

Was on chat with Bell support looking to potentially switch over from Rogers. Rep asked if it would be okay to call this is the number I received a call from. Sorry but no thanks. The least they could've done is pretend it's a local number. I thought Rogers was bad.

Rant Is Bell Enterprise this incompetent?

Has anyone ever had to get a change to ports or certain configurations in the IPVPN Service? I've been trying to have someone make changes to a few of our routers configurations and its been 3 weeks without any sort of response from Bell.

Anytime I call, its a loop of getting transferred to other depts, being told that my ticket is waiting to be assigned, or someone will call me back. I've been told to request callbacks in my ticket which I have and no one has for more than the 48h stated when they'll call back. I've asked if we could speak with our account manager to sort this out and have been told they can't give me that information or help me in that regard.

Meanwhile we have barely functioning phones at every Bell Internet managed location. Customer getting pissed because they can't call in, Staff getting pissed because the phones are basically hit or miss, and basically 0 help from Bell in any regard for a critical issue.

Is it just bell that is this absolute dog shit for service or is Rogers this bad too? Like why are we paying thousands of dollars a month for Bell to manage our network if Bell can't do a simple configuration change that SHOULD take maybe a day or 2 at most.

Service Promotions Bell MTS/home - loyalty offers

Wondering what others are doing? I did search here and found nothing recent.

In Jan 2025 (expires in January) we got a 2 year offer from a door to door guy in Manitoba. $110 taxes in a month with 1.5 and tv with Sportsnet and TSN which both allow app access.

To continue around this price point am I best to wait for rogers door to door? Bell door to door? Call bell and see what they are offering?

No desire to switch. But no desire to pay out crazy money either.

Thanks

Rant Three failed fiber installs and multiple promo calls per day.

Just as the title states. I've had three failed install appointments conducted by Bell techs in the past two months or so, first one was due to presence of trees (not on my property) near the pole. They called their tree cutting service and rescheduled.

Second one, new tech showed up, said the tree cutting service didn't go all the way to the pole as required and they'd have to come back to finish trimming things up. Rescheduled.

Third guy came around, worked for his entire shift and said there was so much stuff in the way of the pole that he couldn't get the lines connected, or whatever. Rescheduled.

Meanwhile, I swear I'm getting like 3 calls per day to confirm my upcoming appointment and with new promos.

Should I just give up at this point or just let this company eternally promise me internet? I cannot see this getting better if it takes until its snowing out.

Question Switching to Bell Gigabit Fibe 8.0 worth it?

I have been using Bell Gigabit Fibe 3.0 and the internet connection is great when devices are directly connected to the Bell modem.

Wi-fi sucks though (except on smartphones). The signal is very poor in the basement and second floor. We tried the Bell pods and it was still not working great (speed was very slow and the connection dropping daily).

There are 19 devices regularly connected to the Bell modem (2 routers, 6 cellphones, 1 TV, 4 laptops, 1 garage door, 2 security cameras and 3 tablets). The TV and routers are directly connected to the Bell modem.

The Bell Gigabit Fibe 3.0 is $112/month with discounts.

Bell Gigabit Fibe 8.0 is available in my area now and it's going to be $115/month with discounts.

Is it worth to switch over? Will the wifi work better?

Rant This week has been an absolute nightmare with Bell

So Monday night around 8 PM, my network randomly goes down, Im like "Hmm weird, guess ill reset my modem", so I do so. 1 hour later, modem is still not connecting, so time to call technical support.

They put me on hold for about 30 mins only to come back and ask me questions like "what kinda modem do you have" "are you home rigth now" "what kinda ligths do you see on it", finally the "technician" decides that its a hardware issue... Im like I dont really believe that but okay, send me another modem asap, please expedite that sh@#$, and so they send it.

I still dont beleive the guy tho, so I call to try and connect to a different person, to get a second opinion, after the long waiting time to connect, I finally connect with someone who actually sounds like they are there cause they want to do their job, they finally convince me that it is a hardware issue, so ill just wait for the modem, but I first ask them to make sure its not sent through Canada Post, since they are know for their slow, inefficient service.. the dude is like "Its Purolator, I double checked, it could even arrive tomorrow morning! You can rest easy"

Next morning, I look at my email, it tells me there is tracking on my modem.... ITS FUC@#$ CANADA POST!!!!

So the modem eventually arrives, I plug it in and.... what do you know, network wont connect, still the same lights, still the same issue. I am pretty furious at this point, but I call Bell technical support rigth away, I ask the first person I connect to, to please connect me to a supervisor, they are like "sure *hangs up*" ...... so I call again, I ask to connect to a supervisor, they dude asks me why I want to a supervisor and I explain I been having all these issues and everyone just keeps half-assing their job and not trying to actually help me, they swear to me they will help me, I tell them that I need a technician to get sent over right away and they agree they will send one. (I should had mentioned in the past, technical support refused to send a tech over and just kept telling me to use their shitty online tool thing that never fixes shit and just ends up telling me to call them anyways!!)

I get the message saying the technician will come anytime between 12-5 pm next day, times I am at work like most people...so I let me job know, I have to leave 1 hour early so I can at least make it to 4. However in the morning the tech messages me letting me know they can be in my house in 10 minutes... around 11 AM.... Im like @$#% it, Im not home but someone else was, they aren't really tech savvy but I give them simple instructions, get the guy to connect the big white box, then the 2 little white boxes, make sure they all have connection and excellent signal.

40 minutes later the technician calls me, and lets me know, it was never a hardware issue, my modem was just not configured properly (no clue how it got deconfigured or w/e its called randomly tho), also, my account only has 1 pod on it, so he has no way to connect the second one...Im like how tf does my account delete a pod just cause my network goes down??? Hes like im sorry my hands are tied, you have to call billing, HE STRAIGH UP FUC@#% GASLIGTHS ME AND TELLS ME I IMAGINED HAVING 2 PODS ON MY ACCOUNT EVEN THO HE CAN PHYSICALLY SEE THE SECOND ONE INFRONT OF HIS @#$%^ FACE!!!!

I should mention, the reason Bell gave us two pods, is because it is the only way for half of my house to get internet connection, the walls of where I live block wifi signals for some reason, so it requires two pods, the second pod is located where I hang out the most, my room, it also affects the other rooms of the people living in the same place, the modem basically just reaches the living room and thats it.

I was done with the guy at this point, I told him to please just evacuate my home, he set up my network, ill call technical support when I am not in the middle of my fu@#%$ work.

Whole work day I am hoping, ill get home, ill call technical support, they will activate my second pod, ill plug it in, after a long work week, ill kick back, put on some anime, maybe play some games.. just chill you know....

What actually happened when I got home, is that I had to spend over 4 HOURS of getting yelled at, lied at, hanged up on, put on hold indefinitely, insulted and so on and so on...they all also refused to connect me to a supervisor.

By this point I was almost in tears, I just wanted to get home and use the internet I paid fuc@#%$ money for each month, no wasted all these hours talking to support, so I try one more time, I tell the guy who answers... please I am begging you, please just connect me to a supervisor.. please...

And by a miracle, they listen to me, within a minute I was connected to a supervisor, her name was Hazel, she was super nice and actually listened to me, she resolved my issue within a few minutes, and even gave me an email I could contact her to, so that she would be able to call me back asap if there was an issue...

No wonder Hazel is the supervisor, she is clearly there to do her job, all these other clows that wasted my time just want to do as little effort as possible and get paid, they dont give a fu@#, I can only imagine how they would react if the tables were turned and they paid for a service and they dont get it even tho they paid their hard earned money....

So anyways, finally been able to chill but this shit totally ruined my week, and I know you may be asking, why not just tell Bell to f off and cancel their service? Well I live in a condo, that has a contract with Bell, so until that contract expires everyone in my building is kinda stuck with them....

Anyways, just wanted to say Hazel is cool, she told me her day off was today, hope she is having a great time.

Question New iPhone Duo Wait Times

Hey,

I decided to upgrade yesterday to the iPhone Duo 1TB Night Sky, which I know is next to impossible to get anywhere until next year. When I placed my order it didn't give me a timeframe beyond 1-5 days (which I know is not true)

the order is still "processing", I contacted support just to ask if they had a rough idea of how long the wait times currently are for the phone and they had no idea.

Anyone here happen to know or perhaps heard from a support agent?

thanks!

Question help with casting live TV onto older television

my dad and i are trying to watch a hockey game on the bell tv app live (on his ipad) and cast in into a non-smart TV using an hdmi cable. when we play it on the ipad, it works fine, but the second we plug the cable from the ipad to the tv, it stops playing and a message pops up on the screen saying something like “Cannot watch Live TV without unlimited internet”.

we are currently at my sister’s place and connected to her bell wifi. again, we can watch everything on the ipad perfectly, but the second we plug in into the tv, it stops working. the tv is older and does not connect to wifi or anything like that. my dad even watched recorded shows from the ipad to the tv using the same hdmi cord earlier today with no issues at all. it’s only when we went to watch something live that it seems like the app thinks we might be trying to stream using data or something.

has someone ever run into similar issues? if so please help us

Help Bell Bundle Madness!!

As my wife and I are looking for ways to reduce our monthly expenses I called Bell to inquire about changing our TV package to a less expensive option. I found the call to be incredibly stressful....the rep did everything in his power to avoid giving me a price. When the smoke finally cleared it seems that if I downgrade our TV package from the "better" (that's Bell's middle package) to the starter TV package my monthly bill will go UP by approx. $60.00. I ended the call and decided it's time to end my relationship with Bell. Which brings me here looking for advice. I've spent the last few days looking at my options and frankly, I'm overwhelmed, there are so many options. if someone could point out where I could get this explained to me like I'm 5 I would be most appreciative! We're located in Berwick N.S.

Internet 🌐 Not getting my full speed

Hi! So I recently switched from Videotron (Helix) at 100mb/s to Bell (Fibe Giga hub 2) at 500 mb/s.

However, I encountered an unforeseen problem.

So, my hub is downstairs. However, I have an ethernet extender, a TP-Link TL-PA9020P AV2000.

On paper, everything is compatible and fine. Except it's not. I get at BEST 300 mb/s with a feeew spikes at 400 according to my tp link software, and 90 to 150 according to speedtest. And that's after fudging with my advances network settings.

Is there any possible way to boost stuff to get the full 500? Mind you my pc doesn't have a wi-fi card, it can only take ethernet, and while I am upstairs I am right above the hub.

Also important to note, I checked all my specs and everything relevant can take up to 1gb/s, including my TP Link and its original cable, I tried to reset my tp link, the network settings even advanced ones and it made it somewhat betterbut not great. I did not have this problem with helix either while having the exact same setup. If anything I often had almost 20mb/s more than what I paid for.

Anything I should do? Someone told me maybe the bell pods would work better with a bell hub, but if I can avoid it I wouldn't mind.
