Removals Company Review

We just moved from Finchley to Dunstable and used a Bedfordshire based company called Alltime Removals & Storage ltd. From start to finish the service was exceptional, we had previously used 3 companies for different moves and this was by far the best. From our initial call to there offices I felt we were in good hands, because we were in London we chose to use their AI survey tool which was really user friendly and very accurate, it enable Alltime to give us a very accurate quotation which was completely itemised from packing service, dismantling and reassembly, storage costs(which we didnt need in the end as we were able to complete on both sale and purchase on the same day) and the actual cost of the move. We opted for all services they sent a team the day before who packed everything accept for what we needed to get us through the next day, they returned with a bigger team the next day to complete the pack which was only about 5 boxes and load everything that they had packed, wrapped and dismantled the day before.delivering and placing everything were we said in our new property.5 Star service all the way.

Is this description of Bedford accurate?

Back in the early 2000s there was a website that collated people's opinions about towns and cities in the UK. A description of Bedford has always stuck in my head:

Nobody actually lives in Bedford. The middle class pretend they're living in Windsor, and the working class pretend they live in the East End of London.

Thoughts?

Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue now officially classify Universal UK as a county operational risk; Universal pledge food surplus to local food banks and Bedfordshire farmer supply chain

Few bits of Bedfordshire wide Universal news landed this week that are worth pulling together.

BFRS have officially classed Universal as a significant county operational risk

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service launched their 5 year public consultation this week, fronted by Chief Fire Officer Andy Hopkinson. Buried in the risk register is the formal classification of the Universal United Kingdom Resort as a significant operational risk for the county. It sits in the same tier as East West Rail and the planned Luton Airport expansion.

In practical terms, BFRS are now openly budgeting new resources, new emergency planning and new infrastructure to cover an 8.5 million visitor site. Quietly, it is one of the clearer signs yet that the Bedfordshire public sector is treating the resort as fully inevitable. You do not reorganise a county fire service around a project you think might not happen. The consultation is open now and worth responding to if you have views.

Universal pledge food surplus to local food banks and Bedfordshire farmer supply chain

Universal and Bedford Borough issued a joint reassurance push this week in response to recent negative press (Manor Road tenant evictions, Kempston Hardwick station access cut off). The messaging leaned heavily on long term local benefits, but there were two specific commitments worth noting.

First, park food surplus will be routed to local food banks and communities. Second, Bedfordshire farmers will be heavily preferred in the resort’s supply chain. Both are the sort of thing that only means something if they show up in actual contracts and MOUs, so worth keeping an eye on over the next 12 months.

If you want the full weekly write up on this stuff, I run parkplanner.uk with free newsletter The ParkPlanner Post going out every Sunday. Both linked in my profile.

Universal said at BedEx this week that Bedford is their fastest ever project

Universal reps spoke at the BedEx business networking event in Bedford this week and said on record that the Bedford site is moving faster than any project they have ever done. For a company that has built in Beijing, Osaka, Hollywood and Florida, that is a notable line.

One for the drivers

October rain has turned the main Core Zone grading area into a mud plain. Universal’s own temporary Manor Road plant crossing is paused because it is too slick to run heavy machinery over without tracking mud onto the public highway. The crossing is mandated to close at the end of November anyway under the SDO for the deep winter pause, so the weather has brought it forward by a few weeks.

Anything else people in the county are noticing this week? Curious what people make of Universal appearing in the fire service’s five year plan, and whether anyone has heard anything concrete about the food bank or farmer pledges beyond the press line.

Dating/meeting in Bedford

Is there any date nights or events that go on in Bedford at all? Especially for gay/bi.

32/m and little new but would rather meet people in person rather than try apps.

Girlfriend is running a networking event

Hey all, my girlfriend is running a networking event for people in the creative entertainment community.
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bedford-experiential-entertainment-network-been-tickets-2003261766871

With universal around the corner we thought it would be a great idea to make connections for people in the industry or those who are looking to get into it.

The event is completely free, and if you know someone that would be interested please pass it along.
Thanks!

Planning Your Own Wedding in Bedfordshire? I'm Offering Free Wedding Planning Support to 3 Couples!

Hi everyone! 🤍

I'm currently developing a wedding planning and coordination service, particularly for couples who are organising their own weddings but could do with an extra pair of hands along the way.

Having recently planned my own wedding, I know how much goes into bringing everything together, from finding suppliers and managing budgets to organising timelines and making sure all the little details are accounted for.

I'm looking for three couples in Bedfordshire or the surrounding areas who would be interested in some complimentary wedding planning support as I gain experience and build my portfolio.

Depending on where you are in your planning journey, I can help with:

  • Wedding planning consultations and advice
  • Budget reviews and planning checklists
  • Supplier research and coordination
  • Wedding timelines and running orders
  • Working through the logistics of your wedding day

This is completely free, with no obligation to purchase anything. All I'd ask in return is some honest feedback and, if you're happy to, a testimonial about your experience.

Whether you're newly engaged or already knee-deep in planning, I'd love to hear from you!

Feel free to comment or send me a message. 🤍

Been living here for years but had never tired one so headed over to Sandy to visit Gunns Bakery to pick a selection up to taste! Oh and I'm trying to get to 1K subscribers before 1 February when monetisation rules change so if anyone would be kind enough to give the channel a follow, it would really help me out. Thanks and hope you enjoy the video :-)
