Shopping Ads for Weight Loss Meds (UK)

• Upvotes

Is anyone else in healthcare or digital marketing in the UK constantly baffled by how telehealth brands like MedExpress, Voy, Bolt, etc., are running literal Google Shopping ads for prescription weight loss treatments? They even use terms such as “pills” etc.

How are their Google Merchant Center accounts not getting immediately suspended? Are they just taking the hit on disapproved ads/account bans and spinning up new GMC accounts continuously, or is Google’s automated review for Shopping feeds just ridiculously broken when companies obfuscate the drug name on the title?

Would love to hear from anyone managing PPC/Google Ads in the health/pharma space how are they bypassing Merchant Center policies, and why hasn't Google cracked down harder on these feeds?

Interview Questions

I have an interview with a hiring manager for client side within the media dept.. and I’d love to know your take on interesting questions to ask?

I usually ask the usual:
- what’s been your favorite project?
- why do you love working here?

Wondering if anyone has Q’s they’ve asked before that tells you a lot about the team/company.

Publicis London salary range

I came to know that Publicis London has a salary range for every role. Is this true or does it depend on the project/client/agency? The Glassdoor salary range is pretty wide.

If it's dependent on role, could someone share the range they offer for director and associate director roles?

Anyone here at Digitas Chicago?

How enforced is the 4 day a week in-office? My potential manager would be remote, so I'm like, is there additional flexibility there? I did ask about that during my interviews (most people who were remote lol), and was told there was flexibility, but wanted some actual insight from folks there how it goes.

Recruiter also mentioned something like, Fridays count as 2 days in office? Is that true?

Any other insights in general from folks there? How are we feeling about stability?

I worked at a different Publicis company a few years ago during covid, so I kinda know how it is in general but from what I understand it's changed a lot.

This would be for an Associate Director role. I have the verbal, waiting on concrete offer.

I'm currently working towards building my freelancing career, so any advice, referrals, or potential opportunities would mean a lot.

OMC 401k consolidation

Does anyone know what’s going on with this? My empower account has been emptied out, fidelity doesn’t see anything, and there’s been a complete lack of communication coming from Omnicom regarding what’s happening. Account consolidation was supposed to be done months ago, and now we’re days away from the one year anniversary of this dumpster fire, and it’s still not done. What an embarrassing shit show.

I'm a freelancer and the most striking thing I notice is the complete lack of warmth among teams.

Is this a post-covid thing? I always try to bring some energy and good vibes and present work with enthusiasm, and so often it feels like everyone is a stranger to one another in the rooms. I know everything sucks but doesn't not being able to joke around or be familial make it worse? Very weird vibes these days. It makes me miss how things were.

I feel like I’m banging my head against a brick wall

Ok, so I’m a conceptual copywriter. I often work with designers on reactive and proactive work. Multiple times this year we’ve been stung because the Accounts Manager briefs me on the “words” and then briefs the designers separately. So the whole project ends up completely disjointed.

Im currently working on a video with a motion graphics designer. I expressed multiple times to the account manager that both myself and the designer will need to work together on this. Script - storyboard - line up - then edit. We’ve worked together before and he’s great at taking creative direction and actually prefers me to direct. So we would be more efficient and the creative outcome would be much stronger if we were to follow this route. Has that collab happened? No.

Why are we still working separately and why does nobody understand that some copywriters are visual/conceptual?? I wrote the script a month ago and now I’ve been given half a day to work on this, from first line up to final edit. It’s ridiculous.

In addition to this, I was asked to work on a proactive brief with another designer. The designer basically told me to “stay in my lane” and just focus on the words. Following internal feedback after presenting V1, the CD has given exact same feedback as me - the design is just “meh”, expected, boring. I was constructive and supportive in my feedback btw, so this isn’t a case of me getting too involved in the craft of design.

My question is this, why are copywriters now seen as people who just chuck words on a blank page? Where has the creative collaboration gone?? If someone tells me a line sounds shit I laugh and either agree or gently push back. It’s part of being CREATIVE.

I dream of working with an Art Director who is open to ideas and isn’t sensitive all the time. I feel like I’m constantly stepping on eggshells and I feel sad for the future of creative advertising if this is the way the world is going…

When did the culture change? What do I do? HELP!

Just saw a post elsewhere about hiring season but I guess this also varies on industry? As I am keen on companies like Dentsu, WPP Media etc, when is it usually peak hiring season?

Corporate agency workers: how do you dress for the office? (men)

It seems to be business casual, unless presenting something, but I have many polos and khaki/ chino pants for untucked casual days.

Do I wear a quarterzip over my polo since it's winter? or is the Qzip too tacky these days (i've seen the memes)

I know how to dress for an important presentation, but i don't want to be in a full blown suit unless i have to.

Feel free to recommend brands/links!

Post agency life (Account)

Where do account people go after agency life if they don’t want to stay at an agency forever?

Would love to hear from people who started in pharma and moved out of an agency role, what do you do now? What are some good companies to look into? Is there a sweet spot for leaving that chapter, like becoming a VP at an agency then hopping to something else? Thank you!

How Air India Express turned Indian English into a 94-page dictionary (Spikes Asia Grand Prix)

The “Express Yourself” English dictionary has about 400 Indian English entries. “Jet spray” is described as a completely straight-faced bathroom fixture. The campaign crossed 25M+ digital interactions and won at Kyoorius, The Drum and a Grand Prix at Spikes Asia.

I made a video essay that puts it in a 140-year line, from colonial dictionaries to Kachru to the OED. The campaign ended up doing what academics had tried for decades: it got Indians to claim their own English.

Question for the sub: why do you think it landed? Was it the humour, or the pride? (Video in comments.)

Publicis NYC-Operations Role

I have an offer for a senior role but am also in the final stages of an offer from a the top bank in nyc. I was in a mid-senior role at a CPG and both these industries are new to me, but I am well suited in role based on my experience for either of them. The Publicis role official title is higher than the banking one, but the bank has 5 days a week and I think it won't be a relaxed environment. I also feel like the titles at agencies are a bit inflated so not sure that having that title will mean much on the resume.

I've dealt with agencies and have know people that worked at agencies but mostly on the advertising side not on the operations side. They never looked very happy and were young so the "perks" --what ever those were, kept them there.

I don't think Iwill stay in corporate America for more than 3-5 years, but I don't want them to be miserable 5 years. Does anyone have any insight into what it is like working for Publicis that they can share? I've generally heard good things about the leadership, but I don't know how that translates to people on the ground. How is the culture? what is work life balance like of the non creatives or those assigned to a client?

Feeling stuck in an agency Planner role. What’s next?

I’ve had this role for about a year and a half now as a Media Planner. I’m at a boutique agency, where things can get pretty messy and there’s definitely some disorganization. I got put onto a MESSY account, where I’m still cleaning up the old team’s messes from late 2025/early 2026.

I feel overworked and underpaid. Wondering if the grass really is greener on the other side, aka Holding Cos with way more structure and organization (clock me if I’m wrong).

I don’t know if I should be looking for Media Planning roles specifically for my next step. I get anxious as to how client-facing I am on the daily, that makes me feel like all the eyes are on me and I can’t ever make any mistakes.

Is it truly fulfilling to be less client-facing, and more in tune with backend data, like analytics, or programmatic?

Since my agency is small, we touch every aspect of planning, all the way from finance, planning itself, analytics and reporting, to optimization. I feel lost trying to juggle everything at once; and I’m not able to focus my full attention on one matter because a client emergency always pops up.

I desperately want to stay in the advertising world. I love it. But my feelings of anxiousness and feeling overworked are too much now, and if this continues for a while then I need to leave this boutique agency, to have a better work life balance.

Any and all genuine advise is appreciated here, thanks.

New Role/ Maternity Leave

Hello,

I have been in various Ad Agency roles over the past 10 years. The last 6 have been with the same company. I am in a place where I’ve fulfilled expectations for a promotion and it hasn’t come yet. I am going on maternity leave shortly and don’t really feel like I need to prove anything more to validate a promotion. I’d like to apply for roles at other organizations and there are quite a few roles popping up on my LinkedIn. Has anyone been in this situation before. Do I sleep on the roles/job applications until I am back at work? Do I reach out transparently and let the company know I am interested and a great candidate but cannot start for another 5-6 months?

Has anyone had to navigate a similar situation in the past?

How do you know if linear and streaming are finding different audiences or overlapping?

We’re 4 months into a linear and streaming campaign. Branded search and site traffic are up, but the people who converted mostly already knew about us before any of this started. Did we just spend money to remind customers we exist? Every time I bring it up, the team points at the brand lift study or GRPs. Is there a better way to measure whether TV is reaching new people and driving new purchases?

Omnicom Or Publicis

Publicis: Conditional offer for now, starting end of November. Lighter on data but still analytical.

Omnicom: Much more data-focused. I'm the preferred candidate, with an interview the first week of November and a start in the new year.

Can I probably hold off on Publicis until mid-November.

Which would you take?

And if the Omnicom interview goes well, is it reasonable to ask them for a signed contract straight away, even though formal onboarding isn't until January?

It’s a very sticky situation right now and I’m not sure, Omnicom did say they can’t formally onboard anyone till January but could they offer me a contract before publicis?

Pitch consultant costs

I’m trying to get some context as to how much consultants charge to manage pitches, particularly media agency pitches.

I’m keen for any info or reference points. There’s not a lot online.

I understand the price will change based on scale and complexity but I wonder if there’s any rules of thumb, like a % of annual billings or a % of first year agency fees?

Any info would be most appreciated

Anyone Actually Making YouTube Ads Profitable in 2026?

I'm looking to connect with other advertisers who are currently running YouTube Ads with the goal of generating profitable conversions and a positive return on ad spend (ROAS/ROI).

I'm specifically interested in connecting with people who are either already achieving profitable conversions through YouTube Ads or are actively testing and optimizing campaigns toward that goal.

I'm aware that there's a fair amount of skepticism in PPC communities about using YouTube Ads for direct-response conversions rather than awareness or branding. I understand that perspective, but I'm not looking to debate whether YouTube Ads can or should be used for conversions.

I'm looking to exchange ideas with people who are actually doing it, or seriously attempting to make it work.

I'd be interested in discussing bidding strategies, targeting, traffic quality, conversion optimization, and what's currently working or not working as of October 2026.

If you're actively running YouTube campaigns with profitability and conversions as your primary objectives, I'd love to hear about your experience and connect.

Feel free to comment here or send me a DM. It would be great to exchange insights with others working toward the same goal.

Advice going into a new business role in today’s world for a startup indie ad agency?

it just seems so insane right now for agencies. I’m down to try new methods. Gonna have to. I certainly can see the advantage of not being a hold co and I believe in the creatives… but it’s all madness. Could use some positive or innovative pov. Yes, I know it’s Reddit, but sometimes…

How is Omnicom now?

I left right before the merger started (IPG). I do miss it, but not sure what things are like now. I keep seeing negative feedback.

I know the benefits got slashed. Otherwise how are things there? Is it worth returning to?
