They said adventure games were dead. They were wrong. — After the Golden Age
Almost thirty years ago, adventure games lost their place in the spotlight.
The gaming industry moved on. Bigger budgets, better graphics, faster action, new trends... There was apparently no room left for pointing at things, picking up useless objects, and spending three hours figuring out what to do with a rubber chicken.
But adventure games never really went away.
And now, in After the Golden Age, they're facing a new threat.
Omni3D, a powerful software corporation, has plans for the future of gaming. Plans that don't exactly include keeping the old ways alive.
Enter Chester Sonoma. Not exactly the hero anyone would have chosen, but possibly the only one stubborn enough to refuse to give up on a lost cause.
A missing friend, a corporate conspiracy, and a world that seems determined to leave the past behind. What could possibly go wrong?
After the Golden Age is a traditional point and click adventure developed in Adventure Game Studio, featuring hand drawn pixel art, a classic four verb interface, inventory puzzles, exploration, and the kind of absurd humor that made us fall in love with the genre in the first place.
I'm developing the game solo, and trying to build the kind of adventure I'd love to play.
There's already a free playable demo on Steam:

The Golden Age may be over.
But the adventure is far from finished.
