Politics Yukon Government invites pro-alberta separatist with anti-vaxx, anti-LGBTQ2S, and anti-immigrant views to be part of its pro gun media event.
Yukon gun enthusiasts like the idea of an official Yukon firearms advocate | CBC News
Its rather unbelievable that the Yukon Party gave this guy a spotlight. Check out his content across social media as "Yukon Strong". YouTube, X, Facebook and probably more.
I also wonder how no other political party or news outlet came across this stuff.
Here are some of his words.
"A Left wing therapist coddling violent transgenderism is what got those kids killed" he said referring to Tumblr RIdge shooting.
On Alberta separation he says "The ONLY reason they want you (Alberta) to stay is to continue the ROBBERY" and "Alberta is better off free, master of her future & resources than an economic slave to hateful socialist fools" and "I’ve convinced my uncle, two of my aunts, my grandmother and my cousin all to vote for Alberta independence. I’ve pulled every string I can folks."
"I don't want to go forward together as a country. I want to escape our flawed charter, Ottawa's corruption, compound taxation, property confiscation, runaway deficits, state sponsored child mutilation, Euthanasia, fentanyl, election rigging via hyper immigration and above all:
...race based law...
Skin color does NOT determine rights"
On vaccines, "Detective Helen Grus notices an alarming pattern of infants suddenly dying post vaccination, then gets fired for not shutting up." and "When power changes hands, remember how they relentlessly persecuted us
Shout out to covidians: For the rest of your lives, you are literally only one election away from life altering payback."
On Canada vs USA he says
"Sincere message to realDonaldTrump
Ottawa is dangerous, emboldened and a very real threat to freedom everywhere and must be punished. Crush them, especially Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic canada.
Close the bridges
Cancel all travel
Shut the border
NO MERCY "
"Unless steps are taken immediately
America will fall to islam."
On immigration "Replacement Migration isn't a theory."
"White feminist females are committing genocide against their own race."

Politics Has Anyone Seen Premier Dixon?
I feel like the premier/current government has really come up short in terms of the change they were promoting during the election. The only announcement I've heard recently is about keeping liquor off the shelves.
When are these guys going to start effecting real change in the Yukon to start fulfilling some campaign promises?

Politics Shelter at 405 Alexander looks worse than ever: Tents, stoves, etc.
The shelter at 405 Alexander in Whitehorse looks worse than ever. The sidewalk in front of the shelter is now full of tents and tarps. There is garbage all over the sidewalk and into the street.
It looks worse under the Yukon Party than it ever did under the Liberal Party. I am sure this is not what their voters were expecting a year into their mandate.
What has changed? Did Connective just give up and start allowing tents?
In addition to the tents, people are cooking or warming themselves on BBQs or camp stoves on the sidewalk.
Behavior is worse than ever in terms of noise and substance use in public.
Is anyone else really disappointed in Yukon Party's management of this file?
I know they have pledged to "decentralize" services but they haven't done anything yet and it's gotten worse.
Anyone who hasn't seen it recently just drive by and look, it's completely different now.
You have to walk through a tent encampment to access the building.

Politics Yukon premier touts 'improved fiscal picture' in territory with budget update
What exactly are they taking credit for here? inaccurate financial forecasting, a mild fire season in Yukon? I don’t think they’ve done anything directly with their actions to save money or make the deficit better. Had we had an average fire season this year that deficit would have been probably worse than forecast.

Politics NDP urges territory to grant Yukon River personhood
As far as I can tell this accomplishes nothing. Environmental laws already protect our water, and we have bigger issues to focus on right now other than a virtue signalling project. The NDP is so out of touch, it's embarassing.

Politics New to the Yukon -41 and going to work
Hi Everyone,
What are your thoughts on heading into work at -41 in the Yukon. I see everyone on Whitehorse anonymous telling people compliaing/concerned to go back down south haha, but really... I have to drive 20 min into town, cant see the car in front of me because of the fog and cold temp exhaust. And my brand new vehicle barley wanting to run, even though I plug it in.
Curious about what is acceptable with calling into work in regards to this.
Stay Warm,

Politics Sunshine and co
Thoughts ?
This is a makers market, as far as I can tell they don’t make or design anything themselves. There is nothing wrong with this.. but it doesn’t fit into the fireweed market. Curious why they wouldn’t just contact stores around town to stock their clothing, or simply- design things themselves ? Their campaign to paint the fireweed market as a villain is actually getting annoying at this point.

Politics Direct flights from Whitehorse to Juneau/Anchorage "topic of discussion"
When questioned about the potential of direct flights between Whitehorse and Alaska, Primier Dixon stated "I would love if there was a direct flight from Whitehorse to Anchorage. Even to Juneau would be good.
To answer your question: Yes, it is a topic of discussion. When I had a conversation with the (Alaska) commissioner of transportation yesterday, they actually asked about it, because there’s a company in the Yukon, Air North, that has in the past had direct flights into Alaska, mostly to Juneau."
Thoughts?

Politics I’m still waiting for answers from PSAC.
Why did PSAC remove our elected leadership? This question has not been answered. No information was provided at the townhall and nothing has been shared since. These people won’t answer the most basic question, yet we’re supposed to trust them to get us a new collective agreement?
In March 2026, PSAC placed the Yukon Employees’ Union under administration. The elected leadership remained in place and YEU’s bylaws continued to operate. In August, PSAC escalated the intervention to trusteeship. The democratically elected YEU leadership was removed, our bylaws were suspended, and Josée-Anne Spirito was appointed trustee. What changed between March and August that made trusteeship necessary?
YEU members should be told what problems led to the original intervention, what the administrator found, why the situation required the extreme measure of ousting our elected representatives. I was at the townhall, and the only thing I heard from the administrator is that the elected were asking questions about where the administrator was getting the authority to do some specific things. That sounds reasonable to me, and if the administrator was unable to answer those questions, that’s a problem.
YEU is not an isolated case. PSAC is toppling local union leadership across the country.
UNE was placed under trusteeship in 2022, returned to elected leadership in 2023 and was placed under trusteeship again in 2025. CEIU was placed under trusteeship in September 2026, shortly before its scheduled national convention. At Local 533, president Theo Lagakos received a lifetime PSAC ban shortly before an election in which he intended to run.
These cases are not necessarily equivalent, but PSAC national leadership has repeatedly exercised powers of removing, suspending or overriding elected union leadership. YEU members are entitled to know why PSAC exercised that power here.
There has been no transparency or consultation with union members. What circumstances justify trusteeship? What justifies removing elected leadership? Are those standards applied consistently? Maybe all of the above is justified, but there’s no way for the membership to know that.
For YEU members, the immediate priority should be clear information about the decision affecting our union, what are the governance problems PSAC identified, the evidence supporting the escalation, the reasons administration was insufficient.
