Mod MEGATHREAD - Forever Names
Bunch of people excited about the names they're getting. Please share them here!
Any other posts about naming will be directed here.
Rules of thumb for naming:
It's not super strict. Generally, the first name can be anything, and you can base the surname off of your character's race's language, but anything that's not a meme or obvious username is fair game.
For races that don't typically have surnames, some approaches have been to separate syllables instead or to use a title.
It's fine if you use other languages even on English RPing servers.

Guide/Tips ♾️WoW 4E Pre-release FAQ♾️
Gosh and golly gee there's a lot of you. And you all want to know similar things! Now we have this!
What are the rules unique playing in an RP ruleset?
The big one is to have a reasonably IC name. No Staburbutt McStabbington the rogue. Another is that you do not disrupt RP activities; such behavior can be reported as griefing. Lore resources for figuring out a name are listed in the pinned READ FIRST guide.
How do I choose an appropriate name? How strict is it?
You can technically pick whatever name you want and adjust it using an RP profile addon. Generally, if you put in the bare minimum effort to make your character's name appropriate for their race, you will be fine.
For example, Alyssa is a fine human/dwarf/gnome/undead/tauren first name. Ikillugood is not. You can find a reasonable last name by looking at the language wiki page for the race of the character you're playing, which usually contains naming conventions.
What's different about the RP ruleset from the "Normal" ruleset?
From a social perspective, many players are seeking the RP ruleset with the intent to RP or for a more relaxed community and pace of progression.
On the technical side of things: no idea. As far as we know, it's otherwise identical to the normal ruleset.
Can I join the RP ruleset even if I don't intend to RP?
As long as you follow the rules above, it is impossible to distinguish someone who never RPs from a roleplayer who is out-of-character at any given time. RPers can be of any skill level, or level of commitment, or knowledge of lore. Please respect that the ruleset is made for RPers first and don't take the community for granted.
I want to learn RP etiquette and other basics of RP or lore so I can participate!
Please read the pinned [READ FIRST] guide for the general FAQ.
Are there communities specifically for WoW:4E RP? (Discord servers, guilds etc)
Yes. Please check out the pinned Monthly Hero's Call Board.
- 4E NA RP Discord https://discord.gg/UEqaNnWTq9
- 4E EU RP Discord https://discord.gg/bZbBSpatXJ
You can also filter this subreddit using the flairs, which include tags specifically for 4E communiuties.
Is the population big enough for PvE/PvP activities?
Yes. You can expect a comparable amount of PvE/PvP activities to a normal realm.
Do I have to RP during PvE/PvP activities? What about "normal" PvE/PvP?
More on this in the pinned READ FIRST guide. Basically: you can do all regular game activities as you would normally do them on a non-RP realm. You just additionally have the option of RPing.
Won't it die off like all the Classic realms?
Classic realms are meant to capture a specific point in the game's development and are by design static. 4E is specifically advertised as a game that will evolve and receive content updates. RP populations are persistent, and the new megaserver technology means that players will not be divided between realms. Whether or not it dies off for RP or any other activities will depend on Blizzard's dev investment in the project. It'll be fine. Just play and have fun. We'll see where it goes together.
There's no RP-PvP ruleset and I am upset about that :(
WELL WORRY NOT because literally a few minutes after I posted this guide Blizz announced that there WILL be an RP-PvP ruleset. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/the-roleplay-pvp-ruleset-is-coming-to-wow-forever/2389502 (thanks u/jmcq and u/tacey-us)
For the RP ruleset: u/jmcq is developing Honorbound to recreate the spirit of an RP-PvP realm on any ruleset.
But... But what's any of it going to be like? Am I going to regret my decisions?
I put my hand on my shoulder and look you in the eye. It's a video game. A new video game. No one knows how it will go until its out, and even then it will change over time. Follow your heart. No one has a crystal ball that can tell you if you have made the right choice for you. It will be ok. Have fun.
What should I know about RP-PvP realms? Should I choose that or RP-PvE?

Discussion WoW Forever! What are you doing for your Skyborne characters?
Don't hate me, but I'm going to admit that elves have never appealed to me until now.
I've tried so hard to like them, but I'm just not a fan of having to study up on thousands of years of lore just to write a character who I can be confident in portraying. It's been a big mental barrier, despite my love of their aesthetics, but the Skyborne being more of a blank slate has lessened this fear and I'm (finally!) fully on board.
I'm planning on writing a character who was sent as an emissary of the High Order to map out leylines across Azeroth. I think it's a fun way to justify him getting out in the world and exploring outside of the political discourse on Zephras. I'm super excited to get into it!
Who are your Skyborne going to be?

Any suggestions appreciated.
The Skyborne has red hair and red feathers, he's going to be a fire shaman... fun fact fire only reason exist on earth due to our unique combination of elements... there's plenty of magma planets but the oxygen here flat out allows fire to exist.

OOC Human names
Hey everyone, having some name paralysis. I’ve got a human paladin character/concept I’d like to pursue and I’m having trouble with names. I’m torn between Derek and Halthan. I do enjoy being able to use a name like the former on an RP realm, but I also really enjoy the fantasy sounding tone of the latter.
It always seemed like more prominent human characters have fantasy names and there are really none that use real world English/anglo names like Derek or Jordan, etc.
Which would you pick?

Art Ssentlemen - Vathiss & Aethriss by Tohdai
A beautiful sketch piece by Tohdai! Featuring my Sethrak character Vathiss and my good friend's Sethrak Aethriss!
Vathiss and Aethriss went to visit the Brewfest gathering outside of Orgrimmar, it was there they stumbled upon a group who were heavily intoxicated. One of the goblins called them both 'snentlemen', given they are Sethrak and was trying to be polite at the same time. Vathiss was left puzzled, while Aethriss chuckled, for she found it very amusing! / The RP took place on September 23rd, 2026!

Advice Needed Bringing live music into WoW RP. Anyone doing something similar?
Hello!
I'm new to RP and kicking around an idea about bringing music into WoW Forever.
I am a professional musician and love this game. Basically, I want to play the bard and use the game as a playground to develop a repertoire of music I love but don't normally get to perform in my day-to-day gigging life. Tavern songs, sea shanties, campfire tunes, battle songs, parting songs, etc. Music that fits naturally into a high fantasy world.
Part of my motivation is to develop my skills as a performer and master of ceremonies. WoW seems like a fun environment to experiment and expand my repertoire.
I'm imagining a blend of gameplay, RP, live music, and streaming.
A few questions:
- Class! I am split between a human priest or paladin (but could see a case for rogue or hunter). Buffing people and healing them seems in line with a Bard fantasy. Needs to be human for my music taste and style. Curious what you would play?
- Is there anyone doing this? I've seen Jay the Bard and a couple campfire song creators. I'm looking for more creators and honestly would love to get in touch and start to build or contribute to a community.
- How do people handle live audio? I've looked into the Musician addon, but it doesn't seem to support live microphone or instrument performances. Would the best option be streaming to Twitch and coordinating with people in-game or on Discord? Are there other approaches people use? I have a pretty solid audio interface, mic, and camera set up already (from normal life).
- Is there an audience for this? I love the idea of spontaneous musical moments with other players, but I also wonder whether it'll be too clunky to share it in any kind of spontaneous way in the game. Inviting people to a stream or discord feels very outside of RP.
- RP-PvP or RP-PvE? Rallying the troops before a big faction battle sounds fantastic, but I imagine this might fit more naturally into RP-PvE communities. Curious what people think.
- And on that note, are there any guilds looking to recruit a bard? (and/or tank healer haha).
Ultimately, I'd love to find people and communities already doing interesting things in this space, learn from them, and hopefully find a way to participate.
Any recommendations, examples, invitations, or general advice would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Who is going to use the first name as a title?
I'm serious considering "Mister", "Headhunter" etc but I know that this can also be done through TRP so I'm not sure.

Guide/Tips How to choose between RP-PVP and RP-PVE. A simple guide.
Okay, I see so many threads about this, I thought let me explain this in a simple way. So you are one of those people that are torn between the two. You've heard the arguments of the different types of RP between the server (emergent (RPPVP) vs scripted on RPPVE), some have pointed out that the critical mass is of roleplayers is higher on RP, which is also probably true. Then you've got the people pointing to RPPVP servers that have failed in the past, but that leaves out that there have also been RPPVE servers that have eventually failed (such as every server not Argent Dawn in the EU). It also leaves out that some of the most magical RP PVP experiences ever where on Grobbulus US and Defias Brotherhood EU. I have personally played on multiple RP PVP servers and RP PVE servers including Argent Dawn EU RP, Defias Brotherhood EU RPPVP, Scarshield Legion EU RPPVP, Darkmoon Faire (RP) and Ravenholdt (RPPVP).Most of my high level ones where on Argent Dawn, Defias Brotherhood and Ravenholdt though.
But let's forget about all this, let's make the choice between the two server types more simple.
You don't know which to pick?
Ask yourself, if RP servers didn't exist. If there was only the PVP and PVE server to choose from, which one would you choose?
If your answer is PVP then go to the RP-PVP server. Especially now! Especially at launch!
Why?
The reason is that for people that love world PvP there is nothing nicer, more exhilarating, more electrifying and thrilling than a fresh virgin and unsoiled (RP)PVP server. During those early months, and everyone who was there during the first months of Defias Brotherhood can attest to that, the world PVP is so amazing. When the average level in pvp battles in contested zones like Ashenvale and Redguard is around lvl 30, the battles are so amazing, so much fun. 6 months from now, when the vast majority of WoW players including even most of it's casuals will have reached level 60 that magic is somewhat lost. An early server is so good that people in vanilla kept rerolling on new added servers during early WoW to experience this again and again.
That's why, if you love PVP and world PVP, you must start on the RP PVP server, because in WoW forever, this moment of a fresh server and a population that is all still levelling and not yet decked out level 60s in tier 2 will only come once. With the megaserver structure, you will never experience that feeling again (unless Blizzard finds a way to automatically put low levels in the same layers using the layering technique).
Go to RP-PVP, experience that early magic, become part of the real war effort. Fight for your faction, live your character and in 6 months, when the freshness wears off, you can always go to the RPPVE server if you decide that the type of RP there is what you want. It will still be there, the RP will be just as good but you will have had the best World PVP experience of your life time that can probably never be recreated again.
Now if you only had the choice between a normal PVE server and a normal PVP server and you would choose the PVE server, then obviously you should choose the RP PVE server. You will be attacked, "ganked", corpsecamped, etc on the RP PVP server and you CAN avoid that on RP PVE. Even if you prefer emergent roleplay, you will get really annoyed at being camped on an RP-PVP server and you will not like it (unless you are a rogue, the only class that can truly avoid PVP on a PVP server).

Advice Needed Surnames in your mother tongue or in English
I RP in a guild of my mother tongue, and for example I RP a nelf with a the typical noun+adjective surname.
I really like the name in my language, it's also sound nice in English but I really feel attached to the native one.
I will RP in English too so, maybe will be better the English one for everyone to understand?
We will have the Total RP to maybe fix that if I wanted to switch?

[NA] 4E Community/Guild < Knights of the Grave >
☠️ Knights of the Grave ☠️
Horde RP - Heavy RP - Raiding - PVE Ruleset
A Call to Arms has sounded out to all able-bodied members of the Forsaken. We are the frontline not only against the Scourge, but also against the vile Scarlet Crusade and anyone who would seek to stand in our way. Our cause is just and our course clear; we shall eradicate Lordaeron of the enemies of the Forsaken and, in turn, the Horde.
The Knights of the Grave are led by Executor Artoyia Pendraig and are to be on the front lines wherever needed, whether that be in Lordaeron itself or called to fight alongside our new allies within the Horde. In death, we are still the sons and daughters of Lordaeron, and we will fight for our home 'til death claims us once again.
⚔️ OOC ⚔️
The Knights of the Grave are a Heavy-RP Guild with plans to do PvE content as well. While the guild has a 'Gothic Knight'-like focus we are accepting all Forsaken from any path from apothecaries, to those that dabble in the arcane, you have a home here amongst our ranks, with eventual story progression in the guild aiming to eventually open up to other races of the Horde, but with a focus still being on the Forsaken as a whole.
Currently, we're looking for anyone, whether it be people curious about jumping into the RP scene for the first time or long-standing veterans within the community; the < Knights of the Grave > is open to you.
I am looking to create a friendly space OOC as well; whether you be coming from Retail or Classic does not matter. The aim is to create a sense of found brotherhood and sisterhood in our ranks both out of character and in character, and the end hope is to foster an RP community around Northern Eastern Kingdoms that allows for world-RP in places like Brill, Tarren Mill, and potentially other parts of the world as well.
Why should I join?
• You're a Forsaken Paladin and/or Knight looking to contribute to the Forsaken and join an order that is led by someone who is like-minded.
• A place for Military-minded Forsaken, whether they be a Mage, Warlock, Rogue, or Priest, and wanting to contribute to the Forsaken War effort to secure our lands from those who would try to take them from us.
• A place where you're allowed to be who you want to be OOC and IC, with the aim of being Pro-LGBTQ+ and Pro Neurodivergent.
• A hope of getting to explore what it truly means to be 'Forsaken' as we carve out a path for ourselves in this world. If You love the idea of roleplaying out in the world and eventually doing large storylines that may take us beyond the borders of Lordaeron itself and potentially collaborating with other guilds. A place whether you be casual or a veteran to RP you'll be welcomed.
Does all of this interest you? Feel free to join the Discord below!

[NA] Community/Guild Ad <Eastwind Merchants> [RP-PVP] [NA] All Players welcome.
About Us: <Eastwind Merchants> is a new guild for the release of WoW: Forever!
We are making our home as Alliance on the RP-PvP Ruleset.
We are looking to build a community and crafting focused guild with monthly events. We want to foster a community of players who enjoy playing WoW Forever and other games during downtime. Some of us will rush to 60 and others will take a more relaxed approach.
Raiding:
We're recruiting Tanks, Healers, Melee DPS, and Ranged DPS for efficient raid clears.
If there are enough people ready for the December 9th launch then I intend to hold Weekend raids.
[Raid 1] Saturday Mornings: 11:00am - 2:00pm PM PST.
[Raid 2] TBD
Raider Expectations: While we will be casual in schedule, we value players that do their research, show up prepared and are on-time.
Everyone is welcome to participate but some roles will be in more demand than others as is the nature of raiding.
Loot will be handled by Loot Council for 20/40 mans.
10-man raid will be at the raid leader's discretion for now.
Any changes to this will be voted on by all guild officers.
RP: We will be hosting a bi-monthly guild event in Powderfuse Port. My vision of this is that we are a Merchant company and we will use Powderfuse Port as the Home base where we will sell our goods to other players. Those participating in the event are encouraged to do so in character.
PvP We plan to participate in world-pvp as well as the Rank 14 grind with whoever is willing.
We will form groups for those looking to push ranks if there is enough interest.
Guild Officers — OPEN
We're seeking dedicated members to help lead and grow the guild.

Advice Needed Is RPing a tribe with bad ties causes issues?
So am getting more into roleplaying, and one of the ideas i had for a character was a troll from the hakkari. I mainly thought it be a fun idea but looking into it idk if it's the best.
The hakkari are a tribe of trolls who worship hakkar, but the Atal'ai are the more evil side of the tribe/extreme group from the hakkari.
I just wanna know if having a character being apart of the hakkari be a bad idea?

[NA] 4E LFRP Are there any RP guilds recruiting for WoW Forever?
If you are, can you please post a short description of what your guild is about.
I'm an Australian man in his 30's, but my playtimes don't really align with most Aussies so it doesn't matter where most the guild members are based. I've never really done RP in WoW seriously, but I have a few years of experience in a few different D&D campaigns IRL so I understand basic RP principles. I also might be interested in running events or developing my own storylines in the future.

OOC Looking for a title for Troll Rogue
I know there is possible trouble using titles as names but I like the Idea of my first name being what an enemy sees like Sen'jin Axethrower but allies see Axethrower Gul'Jin. I was curious if there were troll specific rogues I could pull from, I saw the retail Org trainer was "Nightstalker" but I was curious if I missed some. "Shadowhunter" felt too lore important to pick. I plan on doing skinning and leather working as well so "Hunter" *could* work but its also a class name.
